Focus 2009 - LB John Tinkham

John Tinkham, a 6-foot-1, 200-pound, outside linebacker, from Evanston (Ill.), will be a prospect to watch in 2008. Tinkham will be a three-year starter for the Wildkits. He racked up 51 solo tackles as a junior and was named all-conference. Tinkham talks early recruiting with Badger Nation.

"I've started to get some heavy mail," John Tinkham told Badger Nation.

"Kansas State, Wisconsin, Vanderbilt, Minnesota, Michigan and Illinois have been sending the most mail right now. Then there are all the early questionnaires from schools.

"I haven't been offered a scholarship yet. The schools that I like the most right now are Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota, Michigan, North Carolina, UCLA, Duke and Vanderbilt.

"I've been invited to a few junior days, a few schools have invited me to come watch a basketball game, and I haven't set up any for sure dates yet though."

Former Evanston coach, Tony Johnson, had this to say about Tinkham.

John's got a good "Thud" to him." Coach Johnson said. "He really brings it and plays a physical style of football. John needs to get a little thicker but he's a major college football prospect in my opinion."

What are the strengths of Tinkham's game?

"My speed definitely makes up for my size," said Tinkham. "I'm smart, I'm a good tackler and I love the game. I also feel that I'm pretty good in getting into my drops in coverage."

John Tinkham carries a 3.6 GPA in the classroom.
