It's Go Time!

Jake Current, a 6-foot-3, 280-pound, offensive guard, from Troy, Ohio, will be arriving on campus tomorrow morning to start his career as a Badgers. That career was put on hold for a split second when Current received a phone call from head coach Bret Bielema informing him that his offensive line coach was leaving for UCLA

"For a split second I had a suspicion that I might ride off into the wind and attend UCLA," Jake Current told Badger Nation.

"I'm still solid with Wisconsin, everything is good and I'll be in Madison this weekend. Coach Bielema called me when Coach Palcic decided to leave for UCLA.

"Coach Palcic is a great guy and we talked about him leaving and even early in the process, he told me that I needed to pick a school where I felt would help me as a student, as an athlete and as a person.

"Coach Palcic told me that coaches make changes and I understood all of that. I didn't realize it would be happening with him so quickly.

"To be completely honest though, I was more worried about the rumors that Coach Bielema might be leaving for Michigan or other schools.

"I wish Coach Palcic the best at UCLA. Like I said, we had a long conversation recently. Coach Palcic and Rick Neuheisel have been friends for a long time and wanted to coach together again and plus it's a big pay increase for him.

"I've got no problem with Coach Palcic wanting to follow his dreams and do what's best for him and his family."

Current will be in Madison tomorrow morning and he'll be rooming with quarterback Curt Phillips.

Both Current and Phillips will be attending several meetings with the football coaches and academic advisors. Classes start on January 22nd.
