Breaking Bread - Dex Jones

Dex Jones, a 6-foot-1, 225-pound, fullback/linebacker, from Lombard (Ill.) Montini Catholic, was one of the biggest surprises of the spring evaluation period last May and he was an even bigger surprise during the 2007 season. Dex talked to Badger Nation about several topics including which position he'll be playing next year for Wisconsin.

Badger Nation – Dex, what have you been up to since the end of the football season?

Dex Jones – "I've been playing basketball. I've been on the varsity since my freshman year and I'm playing again this year. Besides that, just lifting weights and working on my strength and conditioning.

Badger Nation – What are your plans for signing day?

Dex Jones – "We're having a little something at our school. My parents are going to be there along with our coaches. We've got a couple more guys besides me that are signing their letters of intent. Chuck (Porcelli) is signing with Northwestern and Garrett is signing with Ohio State, so things are going to be busy that morning.

Badger Nation – What are you looking forward to the most about being a Wisconsin Badger?

Dex Jones – "Just being a member of the football team. I'm looking forward to the atmosphere that surrounds the program. Just being a part of the football tradition. I'm also looking forward to the academics which are the most important thing to me.

Badger Nation – Have you been assigned a roommate yet?

Dex Jones – "I haven't been assigned anything official yet but it looks like I'll be rooming with Erik Smith from Bolingbrook. We've been talking a lot lately and it looks like we'll be roommates next year.

Badger Nation – What position are the coaches telling you that you'll line up at next year?

Dex Jones - "I've been told either fullback or running back. The coaches are telling me that they want to see how I look on some single back sets. There's a possibility that I could work into the rotation and travel next year.

Badger Nation – Which Big Ten stadiums are you looking forward to playing in the most?

Dex Jones – "I'd have say Ohio State and Northwestern just because my (high school teammates) Garrett (Goebel) and Chuck (Porcelli) are at those schools.

Badger Nation – Favorite video game console?

Dex Jones – "Definitely Xbox 360 Elite.

Badger Nation – What's currently on your IPod?

Dex Jones – "I have some Ludacris, some Lil' Wayne. Tupac and Biggie are also on my Ipod. I'm listening to a lot of different stuff right now."

Jones finished his senior season with 750 yards rushing with an average of 14.3 yards per carry. He had 72 tackles and 10 sacks on the defensive side of the football.
