Van Dyke Talks About This Weekend's Visit

Doug Van Dyke will make his final official visit this weekend, before making his college decision over the next couple of weeks.

With Michigan and Purdue dead even heading into this weekend, Wisconsin will try to stay in the battle for Doug Van Dyke.

The 6-6, 245-pound defensive end from Marshall, Mich. (and younger brother of former Michigan State quarterback Ryan Van Dyke) cancelled a visit to Ohio State following this weekend, and is poised to make his final decision around Christmas.

Van Dyke, who has been to Ann Arbor a handful of times including an official visit last weekend, and Purdue on two occasions, has never been to Madison.

He said the Wolverines and Boilermakers are both great options and nothing is separating those two programs.

"I've seen pretty much everything I'm looking for," Van Dyke said. "There is nothing I haven't seen yet."

Van Dyke said his decision will come down to the depth chart, academic support, and how well he gets along with each team's players and coaches.

While he played defensive tackle this season instead of the position he would have preferred, defensive end, Van Dyke finished the season with 20 tackles-for-loss, 12 sacks and 58 tackles.

Van Dyke said he's looking forward to making his decision and getting on with his life.

"It wears on you," Van Dyke said. "I plan to make my decision (in the next couple of weeks)."
