The 6-foot, 215 pound OLB from Delray Beach, FL led Atlantic High School to a 12-1 record in 2008, including a perfect 11-0 record in the regular season. He recorded 94 tackles, 5 sacks, 2 INTs, and 26 tackles for a loss.
His play garnered a few awards including All-Conference, All-Area, and All-County in Palm Beach County. This has led to interest from a number of teams.
"Right now it is Buffalo, Pittsburgh, Iowa State, and Western Michigan. An offer from Buffalo is in the works and a lot of the coaches said they are coming down in the spring and after that they will start offering," Vasquez explained.
However, one school stands above the rest, in his eyes, and he hasn't even made contact with them yet.
"My favorite right now to be honest with you is Wisconsin," Vasquez said. "I looked at their depth chart and I feel that I could come in and contribute to the team right now."
So what type of player would a program be getting at the next level? "I can come off the edge really good. I am very good at reading the plays and reacting," explained Vasquez. "I am a very physical linebacker. I can guard the tight end and running backs coming out of the backfield and am very good at tackling."
As for the offer coming from Buffalo, Vasquez had this to say, "It is an up and coming program. The coaching staff is very young and I can contribute to the team as a freshman coming in."
Vasquez plans to continue to improve over the summer, when he will continue to work on his speed and agility to get an extra step on the competition, as well as draw more interest from college coaches.
He also will draw attention by attending camps during the summer.
"I plan on going to Minnesota with my team for a 7 on 7 camp. I also plan on going to another camp with one of my teammates, but I'm not sure what school yet. Probably Middle Tennessee or Cincinnati."
When asked when he will make a decision Vasquez said, "If I get an offer from Wisconsin. I mean I would want to take an unofficial visit to get to see the campus, the coaching staff, and the weight room. Then after that I would make a decision."
