After spending the holidays in San Antonio, playing in Sunday night's all-star game at the Alamodome, Joe Thomas has spent the last couple of days doing everything he can to catch up on his schoolwork.
Thomas will be unavailable to comment on his status until this weekend, because of a major presentation and paper due late this week.
But his mother said late Wednesday night that Thomas has two more visits remaining and everything is still up in the air. While Thomas was listed by one source as a commitment to Notre Dame, Mrs. Thomas confirmed that report was false.
Thomas has scheduled his fourth visit - Kansas on Jan. 24. He also will visit Notre Dame one more time, in order to meet a track coach recently hired by the university. Thomas will likely make that visit an unofficial one, in order to make his fifth and final trip to Stanford.
His mother reiterated the fact Thomas didn't want to make a trip to Wisconsin or Notre Dame because he has been to both campuses so many times and is already familiar with both programs. But he is toying with the idea of making his final trip an official one to Notre Dame if he decides not to visit Stanford officially.
We hope to speak to Thomas over the weekend for his thoughts heading down the stretch towards Signing Day.
