Badgers at the top for Bennett

There's no question that Wisconsin head coach Bret Bielema and his coaching staff are expanding the recruiting map this season, having offered kids in Kansas, Maryland, North and South Carolina and Utah to name a few. Now, UW is headed into Georgia, where the talented Michael Bennett resides.

MADISON - Junior wide receiver Michael Bennett has been working hard this off-season; focusing on helping his team in his senior season improve after last season's disappointment. Bennett's Alpharetta (GA) High School team ended with a 3-7 record and didn't make an appearance in the playoffs.

That didn't stop Bennett (6-foot-3, 185 pounds) from having a great season individually, as he ended the year with a total of 25 catches for 550 yards and five touchdowns.

Bennett has been doing several things in the off-season to keep his mind and body right.

"I have been doing workouts with my team and working with my quarterback and wide receiver coach," Bennett told Badger Nation. "I'm also on the basketball team. Mentally, I'm focused on making the playoffs next year and making that goal."

Bennett has received offers from several different schools at a rapid rate. Just a month ago, Bennett had zero offers and now, he holds 10 offers from the likes of Indiana, Southern Mississippi, Ohio, Akron, Central Michigan, Charleston Southern, UAB, Troy, East Carolina and Wisconsin.

Bennett has three teams he's taking a liking to right away.

"I'm really interested in Wisconsin, Indiana, and East Carolina," He said. "Wisconsin and Indiana are in a power conference and I grew up a Big Ten fan. East Carolina is an underdog team that knocked off big schools last year."

In addition to those offers, Bennett will have a busy camp slate, attending camps this month at Tennessee, Florida, Georgia, Michigan State, and Vanderbilt.

The attributes are many that Bennett plans to bring to the next level.

"I'm explosive and have passion for the game and will do anything," said Bennett

Bennett is definitely interested in Wisconsin, as they are number one on his list of offers. He hopes to talk with the coaching staff soon in order to schedule a visit.

While that is going on, Bennett knows there are weaknesses in his game that he will be working on to improve.

"I plan to work on running my routes better along with improving my lateral movements and becoming quicker," said Bennett.

Bennett is planning to make his decision some time this month. Right now, things look bright for the cardinal and white, as Bennett would be a solid improvement to an already potent offense.
