Q & A with O-Lineman Luke Knauf

Stratford's Luke Knauf was named player of the year in Wisconsin this year. He'll sign with the Badgers in February. Luke talks about his commitment and what advice he would give underclassmen about the recruiting process.

Why did you pick Wisconsin?

"Because of coach Hueber. He and my dad went to college together and I felt very comfortable with him and his system."

What position will you play for the Badgers?

"Center."

Which coach at Wisconsin is recruiting you?

"Coach (Paul) Chryst."

What are your goals going to be as a true freshman?

"I'm going to hitting the weights hard and whatever happens, happens. I want to be able to contribute in any way I can."

What was your most memorable moment as a high school football player?

"My junior year, we beat our rival (Edgar) 7-6 at their place. It was their last game on that field and it was just the best game I've ever been involved in."

Do you have a favorite college or professional football player?

"Jerry Rice. His work ethic and what he's accomplished is just incredible."

What did you like most about the recruiting process?

"Going to all the different schools and getting to know all the different offensive line coaches and hearing their different points of views."

What did you like the least about the recruiting process?

"Nothing really. I enjoyed everthing."

What advice would you give an underclassman that will go through the recruiting process in the future?

"Weigh your options and look at everyone that's showing interest in you. Don't close any doors."

Is there a person in your life that you admire or that has been instrumental in your success?

"My dad because he's been a teacher and a football coach for 30 years and he's taught me a lot about the game of football."
