Insider Audio and Stories from Badger Nation
Fr those of you who aren't premium subscribers - shame on you :) - and haven't followed my predictions, I've missed on Arizona, Gonzaga, Duke and Green Bay when nobody knew what exactly this team was. Since then, the Badgers have proven plenty of people wrong and have been a solid, cohesive unit, despite playing without Jon Leuer for nine games.
So what happened against Illinois? It was a debacle, it was embarrassing and yet, UW still had a chance to win against a bad Illinois team. Should UW start that way again, Wofford and leading-scorer Noah Dalhman will get them. Dahlman and his Minnesota teammates are the seconds that make the Terriers' clock tick, and a big reason Wofford has won over a dozen straight games. The Badgers, who some say can make a deep tournament run, need a complete effort to get by this team, which ironically some people say can pull the upset.
Yesterday was upset Thursday, as five double-seeded teams won, the most since 1991. I've got to think that the field (although teams were terribly over and under seeded by the committee) will start to balance out before millions of brackets are run through the shredder.
Eight of the 16 games were decided in OT or by three points or less (that hadn't happened on the first day since the field expanded in 1985), 11 of the 16 were decided by single-digits and three games went to overtime. This will be another one of them, as the Badgers advance, barely, with a seven-point victory.
Worgull's Record: 23-8
Points off Prediction: 333 (10.7 per game)
