Add Jake Keefer to the list of commitments.
The 6-foot 4 215-pound linebacker from Baldwin-Woodville High School (Baldwin, WI) has committed to the Badgers.
"I went to a spring practice this past Thursday, and on Friday I watch the film session and a workout, and I loved it and wanted to commit right there, but I had already told the Notre Dame staff that I would come down to their Junior Day," Keefer told Badger Nation. "It would probably be a pretty cool experience to check out Notre Dame with the tradition that they have. So me and my dad went down and it was really cool, the whole facilities and stuff, but it just didn't feel the same as it did at Wisconsin."
"I guess you just know when it is the right time, and it definitely is right now," Keefer said. "Even if Notre Dame would have offered, or another big school would have offered I think I would have ended up at Wisconsin no matter what."
The Badgers have recruited Keefer at middle linebacker, where he knows that there will be two seniors in Blake Sorenson and Culmer St. Jean.
When Keefer arrives on campus he will have the opportunity to see the field fairly early. The Badgers recruited just one middle linebacker in the Class of 2010 in Josh Harrison.
Keefer is looking forward to stepping onto the center stage of Wisconsin athletics.
"Just playing in front of the whole state," Keefer said. "It has been a dream of mine forever to be a Badger and it is so surreal right now. I can't even believe that it is coming true. Playing with a great group of guys, I love the coaching staff. Just reaping for the whole state of Wisconsin. I just can't wait."
Keefer is the first verbal for the class of 2011 for the Badgers.
