Cowgirls Set to Host TCU

Laramie, Wyo. -- The Wyoming Cowgirl Basketball team will host its first home conference game of the season on Saturday, January 12, against the TCU Lady Frogs.

The game is set to tip off at 1:00 p.m.

Wyoming is currently 13-1 overall and 1-0 in conference play after a 58-52 victory over the New Mexico Lobos on Wednesday night. The Cowgirls are ranked 21st in the Associated Press Poll and 22nd in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches' Poll. Senior Hanna Zavecz leads the way with 14.7 points and 4.1 assists per game. She is followed by fellow senior Justyna Podziemska with 12.4 points and 5.4 rebounds, and Aubrey Vandiver is chipping in 11.6 points and a team-leading 6.7 rebounds per game.

TCU is coming off an 86-63 conference-opening win against San Diego State and boasts an 8-7 overall record. The Lady Frogs are led by Adrianne Ross with 15.1 points and 3.8 rebounds per game. Lorie Rayford-Butler is adding 10.9 points and 7.8 rebounds. They return three starters and eight letterwinners to a team that went 21-11 overall and 11-5 in the Mountain West Conference a year ago.

This is the 11th meeting between the two schools. The series is tied up at 5-5. The last time the two teams met was February 22, 2007 when the Cowgirls defeated the Lady Frogs, 61-50, in Ft. Worth.
