Frogs' Duo Plagues Cowboys in Fort Worth

The Pokes had no answer for Henry Salter and Kevin Langford in Fort Worth on Saturday. Wyoming fell to 0-2 in conference play with an abysmal 27-point loss to the Horned Frogs…

It was a basketball game—not a WWE match.

Still, the Cowboys got knocked back, run over and tag-teamed by Texas Christian's Henry Salter and Kevin Langford on Saturday.

The duo combined to score 36 points in 56 combined minutes of play as the Horned Frogs broke the game open early and cruised to an 83-56 victory in Fort Worth.

Salter hit three 3-pointers and Langford knocked in a pair of turnaround jumpers to help TCU (9-6, 1-1 Mountain West Conference) jump out to an early 13-0 lead, and back-to-back buckets from Langford at the 13-minute mark sparked a 7-0 run that extended the Frogs' advantage to 22-4.

The Cowboys (6-8, 0-2) managed to trade buckets with TCU for most of the rest of the period but still trailed by 18 points at halftime.

A pair of baskets from Brandon Ewing cut the lead to 43-26 with 18:08 remaining in the second period, but Salter hit his fifth 3-pointer of the night moments later, sparking a game-sealing, 20-3 run highlighted by three straight Wyoming turnovers against the Frogs' full-court pressure.

TCU out-rebounded the Cowboys 44-28 on the night and forced eight more turnovers than the Pokes. Wyoming shot 43.1 percent from the field but finished the night just 2-of-16 from 3-point range.

Ewing managed to score a team-high 17 points, and Brad Jones chipped in 11 for the Cowboys. But it was the Frogs who struck first, holding Wyoming's star backcourt scoreless for nearly fifteen minutes as they all but ended things before intermission.

The Cowboys have now lost four of their last five games--their lone victory during the span coming in the form of a 76-69 win over Division II Chadron State at home Dec. 31.

They will be back in Laramie on Wednesday to face the Air Force Falcons in another MWC test.
