Cincinnati --- Xavier University men’s basketball head coach Chris Mack announced that 6-8 forward Kaiser Gates has signed a National Letter of Intent to play basketball at Xavier beginning with the 2015-16 season. Gates is the first signee of the year for the Musketeers.
“I am very excited to announce the signing of St. Francis High School (Ga.) senior forward Kaiser Gates,” said Mack. “Kaiser is a multi-faceted skilled forward that can shoot, pass and dribble. His versatility on both ends of the floor is second to none. He can guard a point guard through the power forward position. In that sense he will allow us to use vastly different line-ups in the future."
“Aside from his skill level, Kaiser is a winner having won a state championship in Georgia as a junior. He fits the profile of a Xavier Basketball player and we are thrilled Kaiser will be joining us next fall.”
Gates, who is from Suwanee, Ga., led Saint Francis High School in Alpharetta, Ga. to a state championship last season. Gates averaged 14.4 points, 10.0 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.2 steals per game as a junior.
Gates is a three-star recruit on Scout.com, and plays AAU hoops for the Atlanta Celtics.
