Stainbrook selected to play in All-Star Game

Matt Stainbrook has been selected to play in the 2015 Reese's Division I College All-Star Game on Friday at Lucas Oil Stadium.

The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced rosters for the 2015 Reese’s Division I College All-Star game, which will be played as part of the 2015 NCAA® Division I Men’s Basketball Championship.

Xavier’s Matt Stainbrook is one of six BIG EAST Conference student-athletes that have been selected for the Division I East All-Star Team. He will be joined on the East team by Darrun Hilliard and Jayvaughn Pinkston of Villanova, Butler’s Kameron Woods, St. John’s D’Angelo Harrison and Providence’s LaDontae Henton.

Stainbrook, a 2014-15 Second Team All-BIG EAST Conference selection by the BIG EAST coaches, led Xavier in scoring at 12.3 ppg. and rebounding at 6.9 rpg., while shooting 61.3 percent from the field. He helped lead Xavier to a 23-14 overall record and a berth in the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16, while averaging team highs of 15.3 ppg. and 8.3 rpg. for XU’s three tournament games.

The game is set for Final Four Friday®, April 3 at 4:30 p.m. at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis following the afternoon team practices for the four Final Four teams. Admission is free to the Division I College All-Star game, which is part of the fan activities on Final Four Friday®. The game will be tape-delay broadcast at 1 p.m. on Saturday on CBS, including Local 12 in Cincinnati.

The University of Nebraska’s Tim Miles will coach the East All-Stars, including Stainbrook, and Jim Crews of Saint Louis University will coach the West All-Stars. The senior All-Star student-athletes were selected by member coaches of the NABC.
