Myles Davis will rejoin Xavier's team just ahead of its toughest stretch of the season.
Davis was indefinitely suspended from the program on September 1 but Xavier coach Chris Mack said he will be reinstated to the team on Sunday. The Musketeers take on No. 1 Villanova on Tuesday, No. 18 Butler on Saturday, and No. 10 Creighton the following Monday.
Mack read from a prepared statement after Xavier's win over St. John's on Saturday: "Beginning tomorrow, Myles Davis is going to be reinstated to our basketball program. He's met the terms of his suspension which were outlined to him at the beginning of the school year when he was suspended. I think he learned some valuable lessons from his mistakes, his 15-game long suspension, and his reinstatement. I think he needs to continue to make good choices in order to keep his standing within our program. He's obviously had a long road to this point. His role on our basketball team will be no different from the other 14 guys in our locker room. He'll earn everything he gets from this point forward. So he has a lot of work to do and I think he recognizes that and understands that. We now move forward with Myles as part of our team and I'm not going to make any other comments or answer any questions. Have a great day."
Davis averaged 10.8 points, 4.1 assists, and 3.6 rebounds while shooting 38.1 percent from 3-point range last season.
Update: Davis sent the following tweet out after Xavier's postgame press conference.
