Giants' Raheem Layne: Active at OTAs

Layne hurt his knee in Week 16 of last season and finished the campaign on IR. He'll have a chance to compete for a depth role in the defensive backfield during training camp.

Coby Mayo BAL 3B
Orioles' Coby Mayo: Could be recalled from minors
2h agoMayo is on his way to Baltimore and could be recalled by the Orioles, Andy Kostka of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports.
Mayo was scratched from Triple-A Norfolk's lineup Friday so that he could head to Baltimore, but it remains uncertain whether the Orioles will officially recall him from the minor leagues. Ryan Mountcastle is dealing with hamstring discomfort, which could prompt the major-league club to bring in Mayo's services if the former needs to go on the injured list. Mayo went just 1-for-12 during a brief stint in the majors earlier this season and is only 5-for-53 for his career with the O's, but he remains one of the top prospects in Baltimore's farm system.

Austin Wells NYY C
Yankees' Austin Wells: Lifts ninth homer
5h agoWells went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Friday's 8-5 loss to the Dodgers.
Wells has been decent at the plate lately, going 6-for-27 (.222) with three extra-base hits and four RBI over his last eight games. The catcher continues to see a majority of the playing time behind the plate. His homer Friday was his first since May 12 in Seattle, and he's up to nine long balls on the year. Wells has added a .209/.276/.449 slash line, 32 RBI, 19 runs scored, three stolen bases, nine doubles and a triple across 181 plate appearances.

5h agoGrisham went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run in Friday's 8-5 loss to the Dodgers.
Grisham has multiple hits in three of his last 10 games, but he's gone just 9-for-38 (.237) in that span. His homer Friday was also his first since he went yard twice in Seattle on May 12. Despite Grisham's recent struggles, he has still frequently hit first or second, though Paul Goldschmidt has also gotten more looks in the leadoff spot, particularly against southpaws. Grisham is batting .259 with an .892 OPS, 13 homers, 26 RBI, 28 runs scored, three doubles, one triple and no stolen bases over 49 contests this season.

For the season, Judge is batting .392 with a 1.236 OPS, 19 homers, 48 RBI, 52 runs scored, four stolen bases, 15 doubles and two triples across 56 contests.

Max Fried NYY SP
Yankees' Max Fried: Falters late to take first loss
5h agoFried (7-1) allowed six runs on eight hits and struck out three without walking a batter over five-plus innings Friday, taking the loss versus the Dodgers.
Fried entered the sixth inning up 5-2, but he yielded a second solo home run to Shohei Ohtani and wasn't able to recover. Jonathan Loaisiga and Tim Hill failed to stop the bleeding, and the Yankees didn't muster a response later in the game, leaving Fried with an ugly first loss of the campaign. This is the second time he's given up six runs this year, but the first was in his season debut, and only two of them were earned in that outing. Despite Friday's performance, Fried still has a 1.92 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 70:16 K:BB through 75 innings over 12 starts this season. The southpaw will look to get back on track at home versus the Guardians next week.

Freddie Freeman LAD 1B
Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Posts three hits Friday
5h agoFreeman went 3-for-4 with two doubles, one RBI and one run scored in Friday's 8-5 win over the Yankees.
After going hitless in consecutive games for just the second time all year May 23-24 versus the Mets, Freeman has bounced back in a big way with four multi-hit efforts over his last five contests. He is 10-for-20 (.500) with three RBI and three doubles in that span. The star first baseman is batting .368 with a 1.066 OPS while adding nine home runs, 16 doubles, 37 RBI, 31 runs scored and one triple over 46 contests this season.

14h agoBradley (hip) is listed as questionable for Saturday's Game 6 against the Knicks.

Landry Shamet NY SG
Knicks' Landry Shamet: Limited role continues Thursday
1d agoShamet closed Thursday's 111-94 win over the Pacers in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals with five points (2-3 FG, 1-2 3Pt), one rebound and one steal in 14 minutes.
Shamet continues to play limited minutes off the bench, having suited up for just 10 games thus far during the postseason. He is yet to see more than 15 minutes in any game, scoring a total of 14 points during that span. New York will now travel to Indiana for Game 6, which is another must-win game for the Knicks.
-
Mitchell Robinson NY C
Knicks' Mitchell Robinson: Sticks in starting lineup
1d agoRobinson totaled six points (3-3 FG, 0-2 FT), six rebounds, two blocks and one steal across 20 minutes during Thursday's 111-94 win over the Pacers in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals.
Robinson started for the third straight game, although once again failed to play more than 20 minutes. Despite the recent promotion, Robinson's numbers have remained largely underwhelming. In that three-game span, he has averaged 6.0 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.0 blocks per game. Thursday's victory ensures there will be a Game 6, scheduled for Saturday in Indiana.
-
Karl-Anthony Towns NY C
Knicks' Karl-Anthony Towns: Double-doubles despite injury
1d agoTowns closed Thursday's 111-94 win over the Pacers in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals with 24 points (10-20 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 3-5 FT), 13 rebounds, three assists and one steal across 36 minutes.
Despite playing through a knee injury, Towns delivered a noteworthy performance, recording his third straight double-double and his fifth in the past six games. While it has been a solid series for Towns, his lack of defensive contributions can't be ignored. He has now failed to record a single steal or block in four consecutive games. The Knicks will look to carry this momentum into Game 6, where a victory would then force a deciding game back in New York.
-
Johnny Furphy IND SG
Pacers' Johnny Furphy: Rare sighting Thursday
1d agoFurphy ended Thursday's 111-94 loss to the Knicks in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals with one rebound in one minute.
Furphy made a rare appearance, taking to the court for the first time in the past six games. With Indiana no match for New York, the coaching staff shifted into safety mode, allowing the fringe players some much-needed playing time. Despite the loss, the Pacers still lead the Eastern Conference Finals 3-2 with Game 6 tabled for Saturday in Indiana.
-
Myles Turner IND C
Pacers' Myles Turner: Rough night Thursday
1d agoTurner notched five points (2-3 FG, 1-2 3Pt), two rebounds, two assists and three blocks in 24 minutes during Thursday's 111-94 loss to New York in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals.
Despite blocking three shots for the second consecutive game, Turner was far from impressive, cobbling together his worst performance of the postseason. After having scored double digits in 11 straight games, Turner was limited to just five points on 2-for-3 shooting from the field. Indiana was never really in the fight in this one, with its starting five basically non-existent. Turner will look to turn things around Saturday in Indiana, where the Pacers will try to wrap up the series and avoid a Game 7.

Josh Mahura SEA D
Kraken's Josh Mahura: Staying in Seattle
12h agoMahura signed a two-year, $1.815 million contract extension with the Kraken on Friday.
Mahura drew into 64 games in 2024-25, earning nine assists, 58 shots on net, 89 hits, 54 blocked shots and a plus-5 rating. The 27-year-old defenseman will be in contention for a bottom-four role throughout 2025-26, but his limited scoring potential -- his career high is 16 points in 2022-23 -- gives him minimal fantasy value.
-

Poturalski asked the Sharks to release him so he could play outside North America next season. The 31-year-old Buffalo native played three regular-season games with San Jose this season, picking up one assist.

Grans had eight goals, 23 points and 42 PIM in 68 regular-season outings with AHL Lehigh Valley in 2024-25. He also registered an assist across six appearances with the Flyers. The 23-year-old will fight for an NHL roster spot out of training camp, but he might begin the 2025-26 campaign in the minors. That said, his new contract begins as a two-way deal but becomes a one-way contract for 2026-27, which speaks to the Flyers' outlook for the blueliner.
