Royce Freeman LAR RB
Cowboys' Royce Freeman: Picked up by Dallas
29m agoFreeman signed a one-year contract with the Cowboys on Tuesday, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.
Freeman spent his first three seasons with the Broncos before before stops with the Panthers, Texans and Rams the last three years. The journeyman tallied 319 yards and two touchdowns on the ground in Los Angeles last year across 14 games. Dallas lost Tony Pollard to free agency, so the running back room is currently filled with the likes of Rico Dowdle, Deuce Vaughn (ankle), Malik Davis and Snoop Conner. Thus, Freeman will presumably have an opportunity to carve out a role for himself. However, the team could still opt to invest at the position in the draft.

Trent Taylor CHI WR
49ers' Trent Taylor: Returns to The Bay
4h agoTaylor signed a one-year contract with the 49ers on Tuesday, Lindsey Pallares of the team's official site reports.
Taylor started his career in San Francisco before a two-year stay with the Bengals and spending the 2023 campaign with the Bears. The 29-year-old will likely have the opportunity to earn a role in the return game with the departure of Ray-Ray McCloud in free agency this offseason.

Trent Taylor CHI WR
Trent Taylor: Could return to The Bay
5h agoTaylor has talked to the 49ers about a potential return to the team this offseason, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Taylor was selected by San Francisco in the fifth round of the 2017 Draft and spent three seasons there before stops in Cincinnati and Chicago. The 49ers do currently have a void in their return game, with Ray-Ray McCloud now in Atlanta, which is likely where the interest in Taylor lies.

Deshaun Watson CLE QB
Browns' Deshaun Watson: Throwing full speed
6h agoWatson (shoulder) said Tuesday he's already resumed "throwing full speed" but that he's uncertain how large a workload he'll handle during OTAs and minicamp, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
Watson clarified that certain members of the Browns' medical staff are in favor of a more conservative approach to the quarterback's recovery from right shoulder surgery, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram, which would wait until training camp to have him fully practice. Still, Watson has been fully forthright in his confidence to be available for the Browns' season opener, and there appear to be no real worries about his Week 1 status. In case Watson misses part of the offseason, or struggles during the fall, Cleveland can lean on newly-signed, experienced backups Jameis Winston and Tyler Huntley.

Odell Beckham Jr. BAL WR
Odell Beckham: Nothing imminent with Miami
7h agoDolphins general manager Chris Grier said Tuesday that there's "nothing imminent" on a deal between Beckham and the team, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com reports.
Beckham was reportedly extended a contract offer by Miami after visiting with the team back in March, but it doesn't appear that a signing is around the corner. The 31-year-old is coming off a forgettable 14-game season with the Ravens, in which he put up a 35-565-3 receiving line, but he could find more success as a No. 3 option behind Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. It could be that Beckham will need to wait until after the dust of the 2024 NFL Draft has settled to find a landing spot.

Jaylen Waddle MIA WR
Dolphins' Jaylen Waddle: Fifth-year option to be exercised
7h agoGeneral manager Chris Grier said Tuesday that he expects the Dolphins to pick up Waddle's fifth-year option, Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network reports.
The Dolphins have consistently stated a desire to come to terms with Waddle on a long-term contract, and Grier specifically dismissed trade rumors earlier this offseason. The third-year pro has recorded three straight 1,000-yard seasons to begin his career, becoming the first wideout to do so in franchise history, and there's little question of his value as a No. 2 read behind Tyreek Hill. Picking up Waddle's fifth-year option will keep him under contract with the Dolphins for two more seasons.

Alexander Canario CHC DH
Cubs' Alexander Canario: Set for first start of 2024
1h agoCanario is starting in right field and batting ninth Tuesday versus the Diamondbacks.
Canario was called up from Triple-A Iowa on Monday and he'll now draw his first major-league start of the 2024 campaign. The 23-year-old produced a .269/.377/.481 slash line with seven extra-base hits, including two homers, over 52 at-bats with Iowa so far this season. With Seiya Suzuki (oblique) expected to miss at least four weeks, Canario will look to carve out a consistent role with the big-league club for the time being.
-
Seiya Suzuki CHC RF
Cubs' Seiya Suzuki: Out several weeks
1h agoSuzuki is expected to miss roughly four weeks due to a moderate strain in his right oblique, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Manager Craig Counsell said the Cubs will have a better idea of Suzuki's return timeline once the outfielder is symptom free, but it appears he is in for a much longer stay than the 10-day minimum. Alexander Canario was recalled from Triple-A Iowa to replace Suzuki in Chicago's outfielder room, and Garrett Cooper has served as the Cubs' DH since the 29-year-old landed on the injured list Monday.

-
Mike Tauchman CHC RF

1h agoTauchman is not in the starting lineup Tuesday versus the Diamondbacks.
Tauchman will take a seat as Chicago will square off with left-hander Tommy Henry on the mound for Arizona on Tuesday. Righty bat Alexander Canario will take over in right field and bat ninth against the Diamondbacks.
-
Yan Gomes CHC C
Cubs' Yan Gomes: Another day off Tuesday
1h agoGomes is not in the Cubs' starting lineup Tuesday versus Arizona.
Gomes will take a seat for a second straight contest as Miguel Amaya will draw another start behind the plate against the Diamondbacks. Gomes and Amaya appear to be locked into a pretty even timeshare behind the plate in 2024

Cam Reddish LAL SF
Lakers' Cam Reddish: Ruled out Tuesday
2h agoReddish (ankle) won't play in Tuesday's Play-In Tournament game versus the Pelicans, Mike Trudell of Spectrum SportsNet reports.
Reddish has been downgraded from questionable to out Tuesday due to a right ankle sprain. In his absence, Taurean Prince and Rui Hachimura should continue to receive increased playing time.
-
Anthony Davis LAL C
Lakers' Anthony Davis: Good to go for primetime
2h agoDavis (back) has been cleared for Wednesday's Play-In Tournament game against New Orleans, Mike Trudell of Spectrum SportsNet reports.
Davis' aggravating his back/hip spasms in Sunday's win over New Orleans is troubling given that he has battled the affliction all season, but he appears to be no worse for the wear. A rematch against New Orleans pits Davis versus Zion Williamson and Jonas Valanciunas, while Davis has averaged 21.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 2.0 blocks across four contests versus the Pelicans this season.
-

Clippers' James Harden: Recovered from injury
2h agoCoach Tyronn Lue said Tuesday that Harden (foot) is "good to go", Tomer Azarly of ClutchPoints.com reports.
Harden missed the Clippers' regular-season finale with a right foot inflammation but should be available for Sunday's Game 1 against the Mavericks. The star guard will likely reclaim his starting spot from Xavier Moon.
-

Hawks' Wesley Matthews: Good to go against Chicago
3h agoMatthews (hamstring) isn't on the injury report for Wednesday's Play-In game against the Bulls, Brad Rowland of the Locked On Podcast Network reports.

3h agoCoach Tyronn Lue said that Leonard (knee) will be a partial participant in Tuesday's practice, Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN.com reports.
Leonard missed the final eight games of the regular season due to right knee inflammation. While the star forward's status for Sunday's Game 1 against the Mavericks is unclear, it appears that Leonard is gearing up toward a return.
-
Morgan Barron WPG C
Jets' Morgan Barron: Departs contest
9m agoBarron (lower body) won't finish Tuesday's game versus the Kraken.
Barron was ruled out shortly after the start of the first intermission. The team did not provide more details, but it's possibly a precautionary move given the time of year. If Barron doesn't play Thursday versus the Canucks, Cole Perfetti or David Gustafsson are most likely to enter the lineup.
-
Michael Pezzetta MON LW
Canadiens' Michael Pezzetta: Won't return to Tuesday's game
15m agoPezzetta (upper body) won't finish Tuesday's game versus the Red Wings.
Pezzetta will end the campaign with 12 points in 61 appearances. He rarely saw anything more than fourth-line minutes with the Canadiens this season. Pezzetta is under contract for 2024-25, so he should be in contention to once again fill a bottom-six spot.
-
Thomas Chabot OTT D
Senators' Thomas Chabot: Exits season finale
20m agoChabot (upper body) won't finish Tuesday's game versus the Bruins.
Chabot will have all offseason to heal from the injury, as Tuesday's game is the Senators' season finale. The defenseman has battled injuries all season, which ultimately limited him to 30 points in 51 appearances.
-
Philip Broberg EDM D
Oilers' Philip Broberg: Up with big club
41m agoBroberg was promoted from AHL Bakersfield on Tuesday.
Broberg's recall gives the Oilers an additional depth option if they want to rest players for the final two games. The defenseman failed to record a point over his first 10 NHL outings this season.
-

Kraken's Eeli Tolvanen: Not playing Tuesday
1h agoTolvanen (undisclosed) won't play Tuesday versus Winnipeg.

Chris Wideman MON D
Canadiens' Chris Wideman: Ending career
1h agoWideman (back) told reporters Tuesday that he will not play again, Eric Engels of Sportsnet reports.
