Ji'Ayir Brown SF SAF
49ers' Ji'Ayir Brown: Dealing with ankle issue
15h agoBrown will be out until training camp after undergoing a procedure on his ankle, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
It's a bit of a hiccup for the safety who enjoyed a strong sophomore campaign in 2024, recording 77 tackles (48 solo), including three for a loss, and six pass breakups, including an interception. As long as Brown really does return for training camp, though, he should be in line to start again in 2025.

Samuel Williams DAL DE
Cowboys' Sam Williams: Moving well
15h agoWilliams (knee) appears "close to a full return" after moving well during OTAs on Thursday, Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
The defensive end tore his ACL and MCL during training camp last August and did not play in 2024. While he was only participating with a rehab group Thursday, he seems like he should be ready for this year's training camp. Williams, a 2022 second-round pick, has yet to start a game in his NFL career, though he did play in 35 contests between the regular season and playoffs over his first two seasons, recording 48 total tackles (30 solo), including 8.5 sacks.

Ricky Pearsall SF WR
49ers' Ricky Pearsall: Tweaks hamstring
17h agoPearsall is dealing with a hamstring injury, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
Shanahan describes Pearsall's hamstring issue as a tweak, but the wideout, who Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News notes worked on the side during Thursday's OTA, isn't likely to resume practicing until training camp, with the team leaning toward exercising caution with Pearsall during next month's mandatory minicamp. Once he's healthy, the 2024 first-rounder is projected to have a key role in a 49ers wideout corps that no longer includes Deebo Samuel, especially with Brandon Aiyuk still recovering from ACL and MCL tears that he sustained to his right knee last October.

Evan McPherson CIN K
Bengals' Evan McPherson: Returns to full health
18h agoMcPherson has recovered from a torn abductor muscle sustained in 2024, Geoff Hobson of the Bengals' official site reports.
McPherson has been participating in Cincinnati's voluntary OTAs, indicating he's fully recovered from the abdomen injury that forced him to miss the team's final five games last season. The Florida product had the worst season of his NFL career in 2024, converting on just 16 of 22 field-goal attempts. Over the past two seasons, he's made only 52.6 percent of his field-goal tries (10 of 19) from 50 or more yards. However, he's missed just one of his last 78 extra-point attempts and appears poised for a bounce-back season in 2025.

Jeremiah Martin GB DE
Jeremiah Martin: Waived by Green Bay
18h agoMartin (undisclosed) was waived/injured by the Packers on Wednesday.
The undrafted defensive end from Washington appears to have picked up an injury and will be placed on the Packers' injured reserve list if he goes unclaimed on waivers. Throughout his final 13 collegiate games, Martin recorded 41 total tackles, including 8.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and one pass defended.

Isiah Pacheco KC RB
Chiefs' Isiah Pacheco: Adds weight, looking healthy
18h agoChiefs head coach Andy Reid said Thursday that Pacheco "looks tremendous" at OTAs and has "put on some good weight," Charles Goldman of AtoZSports.com reports.
Pacheco missed Week 3 through Week 12 last season due to a broken fibula and looked like a shadow of his usual self when back in action, averaging just 3.4 YPC across Kansas City's five remaining regular season games and three playoff contests. When healthy Pacheco is an explosive, physical ball carrier capable of overrunning would-be tacklers, as demonstrated by his 4.9 YPC and 4.6 YPC averages in 2022 and 2023. An offseason to return to full form should securely position Pacheco atop the Chiefs' running back depth chart, especially in the wake of the team's decision to forego early-round additions to the position in the 2025 NFL Draft. The Chiefs re-signed Kareem Hunt and added Elijah Mitchell in free agency, both to one-year deals, and added Brashard Smith in the seventh-round of April's draft, but all three backs seem more likely to push for complementary snaps than an actual committee if Pacheco can indeed return to 100 percent strength.

Jared Shuster CHW RP
White Sox's Jared Shuster: Opening Friday's game
28m agoShuster will work as the opener Friday in Baltimore, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
The game got pushed up a few hours due to inclement weather, so Shuster is going to give primary pitcher Sean Burke more time to get ready. Shuster has been back and forth between Triple-A and the majors a couple times this month, and he has a 1.93 ERA, 1.71 WHIP and 3:2 K:BB in 4.2 innings over his three most recent appearances with the big club.
-
Sean Burke CHW SP
White Sox's Sean Burke: Following opener
31m agoBurke will follow opener Jared Shuster in Friday's game in Baltimore, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
Friday's game is getting pushed up a few hours, starting at 4:30 PM, due to a poor forecast later in the night. Burke has been stingy with the runs in May (2.67 ERA in 27 innings), but he has a 19:19 K:BB and 1.44 WHIP over that span. He is coming off his best start of the year, as he picked up a win while striking out a season-high six in six innings of one-run ball against Texas.

Ozzie Albies ATL 2B
Braves' Ozzie Albies: Extends hit streak
33m agoAlbies went 2-for-8 with a two-run homer, three total RBI and a second run scored during Thursday's doubleheader with the Phillies.
After extending his hit streak to 13 games in the opening game, Albies launched his first home run since May 3 in the nightcap, a two-run blast off Zack Wheeler in the fourth inning that extended Atlanta's lead to 4-0. Albies is now 18-for-52 (.346) during the streak, as he looks to have bounced back from a slow start this year. The second baseman is now slashing .241/.307/.361 with six homers, 22 RBI, 29 runs scored and five steals across 238 plate appearances this season.
-
Sean Murphy ATL C
Braves' Sean Murphy: Homers in matinee
38m agoMurphy went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, an additional RBI and two walks in the opening game of Thursday's doubleheader with the Phillies.
Murphy got Atlanta on the board in the sixth inning with an RBI single before cutting the deficit to 4-3 with a 412-foot blast off Matt Strahm in the eighth, his ninth homer this season. It was a much-needed effort from the 30-year-old Murphy, who'd gone just 1-for-13 over his previous five games while splitting catching duties with Drake Baldwin. Overall, Murphy's now slashing .228/.333/.500 with 20 RBI and 14 runs scored across 132 plate appearances this season.
-
Rafael Marchan PHI C
Phillies' Rafael Marchan: Homers in opener
44m agoMarchan went 1-for-2 with a two-run homer, three total RBI and an additional run scored in the opening game of Thursday's doubleheader with Atlanta.
Marchan opened the scoring Thursday with his first home run of the season, a two-run shot off AJ Smith-Shawver in the third inning. Marchan would later drive in what would prove to be the game-winning run in the eighth, when he was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. The 26-year-old Marchan has seen limited playing time behind J.T. Realmuto this season. He's slashing just .152/.317/.242 with four runs scored and five RBI across 41 plate appearances.

Josue Briceno DET C
Tigers' Josue Briceno: Career day at High-A
1h agoBriceno went 4-for-4 with three home runs, a double and he stole home Thursday for High-A West Michigan.
Briceno is hitting .429 with six home runs, seven walks and two strikeouts over his last eight games, so a promotion to Double-A could be coming soon. The lefty-hitting 20-year-old has made more starts at first base (14) than catcher (12) this year and could eventually lose catcher eligibility. He has a .268/.383/.610 slash line with 11 home runs and a 19.5 percent strikeout rate in 34 games, good for a 169 wRC+.

Landry Shamet NY SG
Knicks' Landry Shamet: Limited role continues Thursday
4h agoShamet closed Thursday's 111-94 win over the Pacers in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals with five points (2-3 FG, 1-2 3Pt), one rebound and one steal in 14 minutes.
Shamet continues to play limited minutes off the bench, having suited up for just 10 games thus far during the postseason. He is yet to see more than 15 minutes in any game, scoring a total of 14 points during that span. New York will now travel to Indiana for Game 6 which is another must-win game for the Knicks.
-
Mitchell Robinson NY C
Knicks' Mitchell Robinson: Sticks in starting lineup
4h agoRobinson totaled six points (3-3 FG, 0-2 FT), six rebounds, two blocks and one steal across 20 minutes during Thursday's 111-94 win over the Pacers in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals.
Robinson started for the third straight game, although once again, failed to play more than 20 minutes. Despite the recent promotion, Robinsons numbers have remained largely underwhelming. In that three-game span, he has averaged 6.0 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.0 blocks per game. Thursday's victory ensures there will be a Game 6, scheduled for Saturday in Indiana.
-
Karl-Anthony Towns NY C
Knicks' Karl-Anthony Towns: Double-doubles despite injury
4h agoTowns closed Thursday's 111-94 win over the Pacers in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals with 24 points (10-20 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 3-5 FT), 13 rebounds, three assists and one steal across 36 minutes.
Despite playing through a knee injury, Towns delivered a noteworthy performance, recording his third straight double-double, and his fifth in the past six games. While it has been a solid series for Towns, his lack of defensive contributions can't be ignored. He has now failed to record a single steal or block in four consecutive games. The Knicks will look to carry this momentum into Game 6, where a victory would then force a deciding game back in New York.

Johnny Furphy IND SG
Pacers' Johnny Furphy: Rare sighting Thursday
4h agoFurphy ended Thursday's 111-94 loss to the Knicks in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals with one rebound in one minute.
Furphy made a rare appearance, taking to the court for the first time in the past six games. With Indiana no match for New York, the coaching staff shifted into safety mode, allowing the fringe players some much-needed playing time. Despite the loss, the Pacers still lead the Eastern Conference Finals 3-2 with Game 6 tabled for Saturday in Indiana.
-
Myles Turner IND C
Pacers' Myles Turner: Rough night Thursday
5h agoTurner notched five points (2-3 FG, 1-2 3Pt), two rebounds, two assists and three blocks in 24 minutes during Thursday's 111-94 loss to New York in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals.
Despite blocking three shots for the second consecutive game, Turner was far from impressive, cobbling together his worst performance of the postseason. After having scored double digits in 11 straight games, Turner was limited to just five points on 2-of-3 shooting from the field. Indiana was never really in the fight in this one, with its starting five basically non-existent. Turner will look to turn things around Saturday in Indiana, where the Pacers will try to wrap up the series and avoid a Game 7.
-
Bennedict Mathurin IND SF
Pacers' Bennedict Mathurin: Drops team-high 23 points
5h agoMathurin finished with 23 points (6-10 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 9-9 FT) and nine rebounds over 25 minutes during Thursday's 111-94 loss to the Knicks in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals.
Mathurin tallied at least 20 points for the second straight game, albeit in a losing effort. Prior to his two most recent performances, Mathurin had been struggling to have any sort of tangible impact, tabling a total of just 15 points in the previous five games. The Pacers still lead the series 3-2 with Game 6 scheduled for Saturday in Indiana.

Kasperi Kapanen EDM RW
Oilers' Kasperi Kapanen: Gets empty-net goal
8h agoKapanen scored an empty-net goal in a 6-3 win over Dallas in Game 5 on Thursday.
Kapanen has a goal in each of his last two games, and three in seven playoff games. He's often a healthy scratch or a benchwarmer, but he works hard when he does hit the ice. Unfortunately, Kapenen isn't a fantasy option at any time.
-
Mattias Janmark EDM C
Oilers' Mattias Janmark: Sweet breakaway results
8h agoJanmark scored a goal Thursday in a 6-3 win over Dallas in Game 5.
Janmark made it 2-0 on a breakaway when he went five-hole on Jake Oettinger at 7:09 of the first period. It was Edmonton's second shot, and it forced Jake Oettinger out out of the game after he failed to record a save. Janmark is a strong bottom-six pivot who understands his role perfectly. Every team needs a guy like him; fantasy managers typically don't.
-
Jeff Skinner EDM LW
Oilers' Jeff Skinner: Goal in second career playoff game
8h agoSkinner (healthy scratch) scored a goal in a 6-3 win in Game 5 on Thursday.
The 33-year-old winger played his second postseason game ever Thursday, and he had a dream game -- he scored a goal and his team advanced to the Stanley Cup Finals. Skinner has played 1,078 regular-season games since breaking into the NHL in 2010-11 with Carolina.

Corey Perry EDM RW
Oilers' Corey Perry: Primo gig on top line with McDavid
9h agoPerry scored a goal in Thursday's 6-3 win over the Stars in Game 5.
Perry gave the Oilers a 1-0 lead on the power play at 2:31 of the first period. It was Edmonton's first shot of the game. Perry has also stepped onto the first line because of Zach Hyman's (arm) injury, and that means an even-strength gig with Connor McDavid and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. It's likely his best offensive opportunity since his Ducks days. Perry has three points (one goal, two assists) in his last two games and 10 points, including seven snipes, in 16 games in the playoffs. Those seven goals are the most by a player age 39 or older (at the start of the playoffs) in a single postseason. Perry had been tied with four players: Teemu Selanne (2011; Ducks), Mark Recchi (2010; Bruins), Ron Francis (2002; Hurricanes) and Jean Beliveau (1971; Canadiens). The winger turned 40 on May 16.
-
Evander Kane EDM LW
Oilers' Evander Kane: Nets sharp snipe in Game 5 win
9h agoKane scored a goal in a 6-3 win over Dallas in Game 5 on Thursday.
Kane put Edmonton up 5-3 at 3:21 of the third period when it looked like he'd do a wraparound, but instead banked a shot off a defender's skate from below the goal line. It was his fifth goal (11 points) in 15 games this postseason.
-
Jake Walman EDM D
Oilers' Jake Walman: Four assists in last four games
9h agoWalman delivered two assists in a 6-3 win over the Stars in Game 5 on Thursday.
He also delivered four hits and three blocks. Walman has six points, including five assists, in 16 postseason games, with four of those assists coming in his last four games. Prior to this season, Walman had played in just one postseason contest with St. Louis back in 2020-21.
