J.K. Dobbins BAL RB
J.K. Dobbins: Lines up visit with Chargers
1h agoDobbins (Achilles) is visiting Los Angeles on Thursday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Dobbins, who was recently medically cleared for football activities, is coming off a left Achilles tear after previously missing all of 2021 and about half of the 2022 season due to a torn ACL and proceeding issues. That medical history undercuts otherwise impressive career numbers for Dobbins, who has averaged 5.8 yards per carry and scored 13 touchdowns since entering the NFL in 2020 as a second-round pick by the Ravens, but only suited up for 24 games in that span. Reuniting with offensive coordinator Greg Roman could make the most sense as a landing spot for Dobbins, but it's possible he doesn't garner more interest than a potential prove-it deal. The Chargers and Roman signed Gus Edwards,a former Baltimore backfield mate of Dobbins, early in free agency.

Derek Stingley Jr. HOU CB
Texans' Derek Stingley: Slow start, strong finish
1h agoStingley recorded 39 tackles, 13 passes defensed and five interceptions over 11 regular-season games in 2023.
Stingley, a second-year cornerback and 2022 first-round draft pick, suffered a Week 3 hamstring that created issues for the defense early on, but upon his return Week 10, Stingley made an impact. He had interceptions in three straight games, including the Week 13 win over the Broncos. Stingley will return as Houston's top cornerback in 2024.

DeAndre Houston-Carson HOU DB
DeAndre Houston-Carson: Enters free agency
2h agoHouston-Carson recorded 41 tackles, five passes defensed, two interceptions and one fumble recovery over 13 regular-season games in 2023.
Houston-Carson started the season in Baltimore then finished up in Houston, where he played a career-high 447 snaps on defense. Injuries on the back end led to Houston-Carson playing a big role for the Texans, including two pivotal plays in a Week 10 win over the Bengals. He entered unrestricted free agency during the offseason.

Jimmie Ward HOU SAF
Texans' Jimmie Ward: Injury-marred 2023
2h agoWard (quadriceps) recorded 50 tackles, three passes defensed, one interception and one forced fumble over 10 games in 2023.
Ward, a team captain, was beset by injuries all season long. He missed time due to hip, hamstring and shoulder injuries before a quadricep ended his season in December. In between the setbacks, Ward played well, and his one interception was an end-zone pick that sealed a win over Denver. Houston went 6-4 in games he played and could use his stabilizing presence on the back end. Ward turns 33 in July and will be entering his 11th season.

Henry To'oTo'o HOU LB
Texans' Henry To'oTo'o: Contributes in rookie season
2h agoTo'oTo'o recorded 61 tackles, two passes defensed, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery over 15 regular-season games in 2023.
To'oTo'o, a fifth-round draft pick out of Alabama, started from Week 2 to Week 7 and played in both of Houston's playoff games during his rookie season. The Texans lost two linebackers to free agency -- Blake Cashman and Denzel Perryman -- which leaves To'oTo'o as a projected starter for 2024. However, Houston is expected to address the position during the offseason.

Nate Sudfeld DET QB
Lions' Nate Sudfeld: Remains in Detroit
16h agoSudfeld (knee) re-signed with the Lions on Wednesday.
Sudfeld missed all of last year after suffering a torn ACL in a preseason game against the Panthers. The 30-year-old operated as the team's backup quarterback to Jared Goff in 2022, and was competing with Teddy Bridgewater for that role last season before his injury. If he can make the Lions roster in 2024, he'll likely be the No. 3 option with Hendon Hooker behind Goff.

Anthony DeSclafani MIN SP
Twins' Anthony DeSclafani: Placed on 60-day IL
2m agoDeSclafani (elbow) was placed on the 60-day injured list.
DeSclafani entered spring training as a front-runner for a back-end spot in the Minnesota rotation, but he didn't make any Grapefruit League appearances while the Twins eased him back after his 2023 campaign was cut short by a right elbow flexor strain. He then had a setback and is expected to miss much if not the entire 2024 season. However, there's been no official word on his injury after a visit with a specialist. Louie Varland is set to begin the season as the No. 5 starter as a result.

Jhoan Duran MIN RP
Twins' Jhoan Duran: IL move is official
7m agoThe Twins placed Duran on the 15-day injured list Thursday with a right oblique strain, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.
Duran suffered a moderate oblique strain nearly two weeks ago and is likely to miss most, if not all, of April with the injury. Manager Rocco Baldelli has not committed to a closer while Duran is out, but Griffin Jax and Brock Stewart are the top candidates.
-
Daniel Duarte MIN RP
Twins' Daniel Duarte: Added to roster
9m agoThe Twins selected Duarte's contract from Triple-A St. Paul.
Duarte netted a spot in Minnesota's bullpen after collecting a 2.92 ERA and a 12:0 K:BB ratio in 12.1 innings during Grapefruit League play. The 27-year-old figures to be utilized in a middle relief role.
-
Bryan Abreu HOU RP
Astros' Bryan Abreu: Placed on restricted list
40m agoThe Astros placed Abreu on the restricted list Thursday.
Abreu has to serve a two-game suspension to begin the season after MLB ruled that he intentionally threw at the Rangers' Adolis Garcia in Game 5 of the ALCS. The setup man will be activated ahead of the third game of the four-game set versus the Yankees.
-
Anthony Maldonado MIA RP
Marlins' Anthony Maldonado: Dispatched to Triple-A
1h agoThe Marlins optioned Maldonado to Triple-A Jacksonville on Wednesday.
After posting a 1.76 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 71:21 K:BB in 46 innings at Jacksonville in 2023, Maldonado was shielded from the Rule 5 Draft over the winter and added to the Marlins' 40-man roster. He appeared to enter spring training with a legitimate chance at winning a spot on the Marlins' Opening Day roster, but despite limiting batters to a .158 average and permitting just one run while striking out eight over six innings in the Grapefruit League, Maldonado wasn't able to break camp with the club. The right-hander will likely begin the season as Jacksonville's closer and might not have to wait long before he gets his first call to the big leagues.
-
Zach Jackson OAK RP
Athletics' Zach Jackson: Optioned to Triple-A
1h agoThe Athletics optioned Jackson to Triple-A Las Vegas on Wednesday.
Jackson missed out on a bullpen spot after allowing seven runs (six earned) over 8.1 innings this spring. The 29-year-old could still eventually fill a leverage role in an Oakland bullpen, which is unsettled.

Jalen Brunson NY PG
Knicks' Jalen Brunson: Hits for 26 in Toronto
1m agoBrunson supplied 26 points (11-19 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds and seven assists over 29 minutes during Wednesday's 145-101 victory over the Raptors.
The 27-year-old guard continues to fill up the bucket, topping 25 points for the seventh time in the last 10 games. Over that stretch, Brunson has averaged 28.3 points, 6.2 assists, 3.2 boards, 2.9 threes and 0.8 steals while leading the Knicks to an 8-2 record, as the team looks to lock up a playoff spot and avoid sliding back into the Play-In Tournament.
-
Miles McBride NY PG
Knicks' Miles McBride: Ties career scoring high in rout
9m agoMcBride ended Wednesday's 145-101 victory over the Raptors with 29 points (10-17 FG, 9-14 3Pt), three rebounds, seven assists and one steal across 40 minutes.
Making his fifth straight start during the latest absence for OG Anunoby (elbow), McBride topped 25 points for the third time during that stretch and tied the career-high 29 he dropped on the Warriors on Mar. 28. The nine made three-pointers were also a career high for the third-year guard, and he tied a Knicks franchise record by draining six of them in the first quarter. Over his stint in the starting five, McBride has averaged 44.4 minutes a contest and delivered 21.6 points, 4.6 threes, 3.8 assists, 2.8 boards and 1.0 steals while shooting 55.2 percent from the floor and 48.9 percent from beyond the arc.

LaMelo Ball CHA PG
Hornets' LaMelo Ball: Shut down for season
9m agoThe Hornets announced Thursday that Ball (ankle) will miss the remainder of the season.
Ball hasn't played since Jan. 26 due to an injury the Hornets initially labeled as right ankle soreness before eventually updating his diagnosis as right ankle tendinopathy. Though head coach Steve Clifford suggested earlier this month that Ball was doing more work on the court, the Hornets weren't willing to put a timeline on his return to the court. Ultimately, Ball didn't demonstrate enough progress in his recovery from the right ankle injury to make it back for the final two-plus weeks of the season and will be shut down for the remainder of the campaign as he turns his focus to further rehab. Ball has now played just 58 games over the past two seasons due to injuries, but he was productive during his time on the court when healthy in 2023-24, as he averaged 23.9 points, 8.0 assists, 5.1 rebounds, 3.2 three-pointers and 1.8 steals in 32.3 minutes per game over his 22 appearances. Provided he doesn't require any offseason procedures on his right ankle, Ball should be fully healed ahead of training camp in the fall.

Buddy Hield PHI SF
76ers' Buddy Hield: Pops for 17 in loss
16m agoHield ended with 17 points (7-11 FG, 3-7 3Pt), three rebounds, one assist and one block across 26 minutes off the bench during Wednesday's 108-107 loss to the Clippers.
It was Hield's best scoring effort since he poured in 22 points against the Heat on Feb. 14, the last game before the All-Star break. The 31-year-old guard has started only one of the Sixers' last 10 games, and Hield has averaged 10.5 points, 2.9 boards, 2.0 threes and 1.9 assists over that stretch while seeing 22.4 minutes a contest.
-
Kelly Oubre Jr. PHI SG
76ers' Kelly Oubre: Double-double in tough loss
19m agoOubre ended with 17 points (6-17 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 5-5 FT), 11 rebounds, two assists and one steal across 38 minutes during Wednesday's 108-107 loss to the Clippers.
The 28-year-old forward very nearly played hero, but his layup attempt at the buzzer was blocked by Kawhi Leonard -- although the refs acknowledged after the game that Oubre was fouled on the play and should have gone to the line with a chance to win it. The double-double was his fourth of the season, with them of them coming since he rejoined the Sixers' starting five Mar. 8. Over his last 10 games, Oubre has averaged 17.6 points, 6.5 boards, 2.5 assists, 1.3 threes, 1.1 steals and 1.0 blocks despite shooting 39.8 percent from the floor and 26.5 percent from beyond the arc.
-
Mo Bamba PHI C
76ers' Mo Bamba: First double-double of season
22m agoBamba ended with 12 points (5-8 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 2-2 FT), 11 rebounds and two blocks over 19 minutes during Wednesday's 108-107 loss to the Clippers.
Making his 11th straight start, the 25-year-old center recorded his first double-double of the season as he continues to split the workload in the paint with Paul Reed. Over those 11 contests, Bamba has averaged 6.3 points, 5.6 boards and 1.3 blocks in 20.8 minutes a game, and his defensive contributions are the only thing keeping him on the fantasy radar -- he's delivered multiple blocks in four of the last six games.

Jakob Chychrun OTT D
Senators' Jakob Chychrun: Another two points Wednesday
5m agoChychrun grabbed a goal and an assist in Wednesday's 6-2 win over Buffalo.
Chychrun extended Ottawa's lead to 4-0 at the 8:49 mark of the opening period, firing a slapshot past Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen, before adding an assist on Shane Pinto's empty-netter in the third. The 25-year-old Chychrun now has three goals and four points in his last two games after logging just two assists in his previous 18 contests. He's up to 12 goals and 36 points through 71 games in his first full season with the Senators.
-
Jacob Bryson BUF D
Sabres' Jacob Bryson: Two helpers in loss
10m agoBryson recorded a pair of assists in Wednesday's 6-2 loss to the Senators.
Bryson was involved in both of Buffalo's second-period goals, setting up John-Jason Peterka's tally early in the frame before adding a second assist on a Connor Clifton marker. It's just the second multi-point game this season for Bryson, who had one point (an assist) in seven games prior to Wednesday. Overall, the 26-year-old blueliner has eight points (one goal, seven assists) through 27 games in a bottom-pairing role.
-
Drake Batherson OTT RW
Senators' Drake Batherson: Two more points Wednesday
14m agoBatherson notched a goal and an assist in Wednesday's 6-2 win over the Sabres.
Batherson extended Ottawa's lead to 3-0 just six minutes into the first period, following up his own rebound before sneaking a backhander past Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen. Batherson would add a second point with an assist on Shane Pinto's empty-netter in the third. The 25-year-old winger now has goals in three straight games and 12 points (five goals, seven assists) in his last 11 contests. He's up to 26 goals and 57 points, five shy of a career high, through 71 games this season while skating on the Senators' top line.
-
Tyler Kleven OTT D
Senators' Tyler Kleven: Called up from minors
1h agoKleven was elevated from AHL Belleville on Thursday.
Kleven's promotion doesn't bode well for the availability of Thomas Chabot (lower body) against the Blackhawks on Thursday. Even with Kleven joining the team, he is far from a lock for a spot in the lineup, as Travis Hamonic figures to have the inside track if called upon. Still, Kleven does offer some offensive upside with 17 points in 45 minor-league contests this season.
-
Brady Tkachuk OTT LW
Senators' Brady Tkachuk: Two more points in win
10h agoTkachuk tallied a goal and an assist in Wednesday's 6-2 win over Buffalo.
Tkachuk grabbed an assist on Drake Batherson's tally in the first period before adding a goal in the final minute of the frame, directing a Thomas Chabot feed past Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen to extend Ottawa's lead to 5-0. It's the third straight two-point game for Tkachuk, who now has five goals and 11 points in his last seven contests. Overall, the 24-year-old winger's up to 32 goals, three shy of a career high, and 63 points through 70 games this season.
-
Boris Katchouk OTT LW
Senators' Boris Katchouk: Two points in Sens' win
10h agoKatchouk logged a goal and an assist in Wednesday's 6-2 win over the Sabres.
Katchouk grabbed an assist on Artem Zub's opening goal 2:37 into the first period before extending Ottawa's lead to 2-0 just a few minutes later, deflecting a Parker Kelly shot for his first goal in 10 games with the Senators. The 25-year-old Katchouk now has six goals and 11 points across 47 games between Ottawa and Chicago this season. While he provides a physical presence, Katchouk isn't likely to offer consistent production offensively in a fourth-line role.
