J.K. Dobbins BAL RB
Chargers' J.K. Dobbins: Slated to join Chargers
1h agoDobbins (Achilles) is in line to sign a one-contract with the Chargers, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
A second-round pick of the Ravens in 2020, Dobbins had two of his first four pro seasons cut short due to an ACL tear in 2021 and then a torn left Achilles in Week 1 of the 2023 campaign. In his 24 career appearances, he's averaged a robust 5.8 yards on 234 carries, gathered in 27 of 35 targets for 177 yards and scored 13 total touchdowns. Orthopedic surgeon Dr. Neal ElAttrache penned a letter to NFL teams in late March that Dobbins had received medical clearance to participate in football activities, but his new contract will be contingent on a physical. Once the move west to L.A. becomes official, Dobbins will join forces with former teammate Gus Edwards at the top of the RB depth chart, giving him some sway in fantasy working alongside QB Justin Herbert.

Darius Slayton NYG WR
Giants' Darius Slayton: Seeking new deal
4h agoSlayton (thumb) hasn't reported to the Giants' voluntary workouts while he seeks a contract extension, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
Slayton, who led the team with 770 receiving yards in 17 games in 2023, has attended the Giants' voluntary offseason program in the past. The 27-year-old wideout is in line to earn $6.2 million in the final year of his contract in 2024, but Slayton is evidently looking to amend those terms. At this stage, Slayton -- who is recovering from an offseason procedure on his right thumb -- is poised to retain a key role in a Giants wideout corps that currently includes Wan'Dale Robinson and Jalin Hyatt.

Jaelan Phillips MIA LB
Dolphins' Jaelan Phillips: Getting fifth-year option picked up
9h agoGeneral manager Chris Grier said Tuesday that the Dolphins will exericse the fifth-year option on Phillips' (Achilles) rookie contract before May's deadline, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com reports.
A torn right Achilles' tendon limited Phillips to just eight games last season, but he's reportedly on track to be ready for Week 1 of the 2024 campaign. He's been one of the Dolphins' more impactful pass rushers over the past three seasons, and the team will be more in need of him than ever with Christian Wilkins having moved on to Las Vegas.

De'Von Achane MIA RB
Dolphins' De'Von Achane: Bulks up during offseason
9h agoAchane appears to have added muscle to his frame through his workouts earlier this offseason, Joe Schad of the Palm Beach Post reports.
A photo of Achane showing up for OTAs went viral, with some saying he looks much larger than he did during his rookie campaign. It's his second offseason bulking up for football without also considering track and field, though at this point it's unclear how much muscle he's added relative to his weight from the 2023 NFL Combine, where he ran a 4.32-second 40-yard dash at 188 pounds. Achane averaged 7.8 yards per carry and scored a touchdown per game last season, albeit with injuries (six missed games) and Raheem Mostert's presence (209 carries) limiting the rookie to 103 carries and 27 catches in his 11 appearances. The Dolphins still have Mostert under contract -- along with backups Jeff Wilson, Salvon Ahmed (foot) and Chris Brooks -- but they'll presumably prepare Achane with more of the backfield work in his second NFL season.

Royce Freeman LAR RB
Cowboys' Royce Freeman: Picked up by Dallas
1d agoFreeman signed a one-year contract with the Cowboys on Tuesday, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.
Freeman spent his first three seasons with the Broncos before stops with the Panthers, Texans and Rams the last three years. The journeyman tallied 319 yards and two touchdowns on the ground in Los Angeles last year across 14 games. Dallas lost Tony Pollard to free agency, so its running back room currently consists of Rico Dowdle, Deuce Vaughn (ankle), Malik Davis, Snoop Conner and Freeman. Freeman could get an opportunity to carve out a role for himself, but the Cowboys still seem likely to invest in the position during the 2024 Draft.
-
Trent Taylor CHI WR
49ers' Trent Taylor: Returns to Bay Area
1d agoTaylor signed a one-year contract with the 49ers on Tuesday, Lindsey Pallares of the team's official site reports.
Taylor started his career in San Francisco before a two-year stay with the Bengals, and he spent the 2023 campaign with the Bears. The 29-year-old will have the opportunity to earn a role in the return game with the Niners after the departure of Ray-Ray McCloud in free agency this offseason.

Bailey Falter PIT SP
Pirates' Bailey Falter: Outdueled in Wednesday's loss
12m agoFalter (1-1) took the loss Wednesday, giving up two runs on four hits and a walk over five innings as the Pirates fell 9-1 to the Mets. He struck out four.
The 26-year-old southpaw served up a two-run homer to Starling Marte in the third inning, but he otherwise shut New York down over 73 pitches (47 strikes). Unfortunately for Pittsburgh, Luis Severino was a little bit better for the home squad. Falter has been tagged for only three runs over his last three starts and 16 innings, lowering his ERA to 4.05, but his 10:5 K:BB through 20 frames on the year highlights his limited fantasy ceiling. He lines up to make his next start at home early next week against the Brewers.

Jared Shuster CHW RP
White Sox's Jared Shuster: Returns to minors
1h agoThe White Sox returned Shuster to Triple-A Charlotte on Wednesday.
Shuster did not make an appearance during Wednesday's doubleheader against Kansas City, and he'll now head back to the minors after being promoted as the 27th man. The 25-year-old lefty owns a 1.42 ERA through 6.1 big-league innings this season but has run into trouble since being demoted to Charlotte.

Landon Knack LAD SP
Dodgers' Landon Knack: Stuck with loss in debut
1h agoKnack (0-1) took the loss Wednesday against the Nationals, allowing two runs on four hits and a walk while striking out four over five innings.
Knack got off to a rocky start, allowing hits to the first three Nats he faced, including a lead-off homer to CJ Abrams. However, the 26-year-old right-hander settled in nicely, blanking Washington over his subsequent four frames while allowing just one additional hit. While the Dodgers failed to provide enough support to get Knack off the hook, it was an encouraging outing overall. Knack was solid last year in 22 starts between Double-A Tulsa and Triple-A Oklahoma City, pitching to a 2.51 ERA with 99 strikeouts over 100.1 innings. If the Dodgers stick with a six-man rotation and keep Knack in the majors, he'd line up for a road matchup with the Blue Jays in his next start.

Kyle Finnegan WAS RP
Nationals' Kyle Finnegan: Up to seven saves
1h agoFinnegan earned the save in Wednesday's 2-0 win over the Dodgers, striking out one in a perfect ninth inning.
Finnegan's now gone seven appearances (6.2 innings) without allowing an earned run. He's up to seven saves on the year, tying Ryan Helsley and Clay Holmes for the league lead. The 32-year-old Finnegan lowered his ERA to 3.24 with a 1.32 WHIP and 8:5 K:BB through his first 8.1 innings this season.
-
Romy Gonzalez BOS SS
Red Sox's Romy Gonzalez: Suffers setback
2h agoGonzalez (wrist) felt pain while taking swings Wednesday and is scheduled to undergo an MRI, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.
The 27-year-old appeared to be progressing well after being placed on the injured list over the weekend with a wrist sprain, but his immediate outlook is hazy after the setback. Gonzalez will be eligible to return from the injured list Sunday, but he now seems likely to be sidelined beyond the 10-day minimum.
-
Jose Hernandez PIT RP
Pirates' Jose Hernandez: Optioned to Indianapolis
2h agoThe Pirates optioned Hernandez to Triple-A Indianapolis on Wednesday.
Hernandez has allowed one earned run across 4.2 innings this season, but he will now return to the minors to free up a spot in Pittsburgh's bullpen. It's unclear who will come up from Triple-A to fill the left-hander's spot, but the team will announce a corresponding move Friday.
-
Clint Capela ATL C
Hawks' Clint Capela: Set to play against Chicago
18m agoCapela (rest) isn't on the injury report for Wednesday's Play-In Tournament game against the Bulls.
Capela will return to action Wednesday after sitting out Atlanta's regular-season finale for rest purposes. The 29-year-old big man should reclaim his starting spot from Bruno Fernando. Capela is averaging 12.0 points, 11.1 rebounds, 1.8 rebounds, 1.3 blocks and 1.0 steals in 28.6 minutes across his past 10 appearances.
-
Ayo Dosunmu CHI PG
Bulls' Ayo Dosunmu: Full go Wednesday
1h agoDosunmu (quadriceps) will play and is not under a minutes restriction for Wednesday's Play-In Tournament game against the Hawks, Will Gottlieb of AllCHGO.com reports.
Dosunmu missed the last four games of the regular season with a right quad contusion, but he's been given the green light for Wednesday's Play-In game. He should be expected to slot back into the starting shooting guard role. Dosunmu made 27 consecutive starts before sustaining the injury, averaging 16.9 points, 4.9 assists and 3.4 rebounds during that stretch.
-
Duncan Robinson MIA SG
Heat's Duncan Robinson: Coming off bench Wednesday
2h agoRobinson isn't in the starting lineup for Wednesday's Play-In Tournament game versus the 76ers, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
Despite starting in his last 17 outings, Robinson will come off the bench against Philadelphia after missing Miami's previous four contests with a back injury. Robinson is averaging 9.8 points, 1.3 assists and 1.2 rebounds in 21.4 minutes across his last 10 appearances coming off the bench.
-
Mo Bamba PHI C
76ers' Mo Bamba: Back to bench
2h agoBamba won't start Wednesday's Play-In Game against the Heat.
With Joel Embiid (knee) sidelined, Bamba drew a spot start during the regular-season finale and posted four points, six rebounds and two blocks in 18 minutes during a 107-86 win over Brooklyn. Across 40 appearances off the bench this season, Bamba has averaged 3.7 points, 3.6 rebounds and 0.9 blocks in 10.3 minutes per game.
-
Joel Embiid PHI C
76ers' Joel Embiid: Good to go against Miami
2h agoEmbiid is available and in the starting lineup for Tuesday's Play-In Tournament game against the 76ers.
As expected, Embiid has been upgraded from questionable to available Tuesday despite dealing with a left knee injury. The superstar big man tallied 29 points, four rebounds, three assists, one steal and one block in 33 minutes during his only other appearance against Miami this season.
-
Kenyon Martin Jr. PHI SF
76ers' KJ Martin: Available for Wednesday
2h agoMartin (toe) will be available for Wednesday's game against the Heat.
Martin will return from a three-game absence and will likely be working with minutes in the teens. He's not the most attractive fantasy option.
-
Jean-Gabriel Pageau NYI C
Islanders' Jean-Gabriel Pageau: Exits Wednesday's game
3m agoPageau (undisclosed) exited Wednesday's game versus the Penguins after sustaining an injury in the first period, Stefen Rosner of NHL.com reports.
The Islanders are likely taking a cautious approach with the two-way center in the last game before the postseason. Pageau will wrap up the regular season with 33 points while playing in all 82 games for the first time since 2016-17.
-
Adam Erne EDM LW
Oilers' Adam Erne: Rises to NHL
2h agoErne was called up from AHL Bakersfield on Wednesday, Jason Gregor of Sports 1440 Edmonton reports.
Erne will give the Oilers extra forward depth should they decide to rest additional forwards over the last two games of the season. He previously posted two points and 67 hits over 23 contests at the NHL level this season.
-
Sebastian Aho NYI D
Islanders' Sebastian Aho: Not resting Wednesday
2h agoAho will play Wednesday versus the Penguins, Stefen Rosner of NHL.com reports.
Aho was initially slated to be rested for this game, but Anders Lee will now sit out instead. Aho will serve as a seventh defenseman, so it's likely his ice time will be limited anyway.
-
Anders Lee NYI LW
Islanders' Anders Lee: Out for personal reasons
2h agoLee won't play Wednesday versus the Penguins, Stefen Rosner of NHL.com reports.
Lee wasn't initially slated to miss the game, but the team later revealed he would be absent. The Islanders will have Sebastian Aho draw in instead. Lee will conclude the regular season with 20 goals, 17 assists, 185 shots on net and 176 hits over 81 appearances.
-
Anthony Cirelli TB C
Lightning's Anthony Cirelli: Won't play Wednesday
2h agoCirelli is not on the ice for warmups and won't play Wednesday versus the Maple Leafs, Erik Erlendsson of LightningInsider.com reports.
Cirelli missed a game earlier in April due to an upper-body injury, so it's possible the Lightning have chosen to give him rest ahead of the playoffs. He is a key defensive center for the team, and there's no reason to think he'll miss Game 1 of the Lightning's first-round series versus the Panthers.
-
Victor Hedman TB D
Lightning's Victor Hedman: Sitting due to illness
2h agoHedman (illness) won't play Wednesday versus the Maple Leafs, Erik Erlendsson of LightningInsider.com reports.
There's no point in playing through it for Hedman, as the Lightning are locked into the first wild-card spot. Hedman will end the regular season with 13 goals, 76 points, 168 shots on net and 102 blocked shots over 78 appearances.
