Kaiir Elam BUF CB
Bills' Kaiir Elam: Ready for next step?
3h agoElam, who missed most of the 2023 regular season due to an ankle injury and coaching decisions, finished with 14 total tackles over three regular-season games.
Elam did appear in both of the Bills' playoff games, though he was limited to special teams in the divisional-round loss to the Chiefs. So far in his young career, Elam's output in two NFL seasons hasn't come close to matching his first-round status, but the Bills had to let several secondary members move on this season and will likely spend one of their high picks on receiver, so Elam may be earmarked for a more prominent role in 2024 even if he's not a starter just yet. Some comments from team brass in the offseason have indicated the Bills are hopeful Elam is ready to make that jump in performance.

Cody Davis NE DB
Cody Davis: Hangs up cleats
9h agoDavis announced his retirement from the NFL on Thursday, Chris Mason of Masslive.com reports.
Davis played 11 NFL seasons, spending five years with the Rams, two with the Jaguars and the final four of his career with the Patriots. The 34-year-old primarily played on special teams and hadn't played a defensive snap since 2020. He'll finish his career with 118 combined tackles, two interceptions and three fumbles recovered.

Olamide Zaccheaus PHI WR
Commanders' Olamide Zaccheaus: Moving on to Washington
10h agoZaccheaus has agreed to a deal with the Commanders, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
In his only campaign with the Eagles, Zaccheaus (who caught 40 passes with the Falcons in 2022) finished the 2023 regular season with 10 catches for 164 yards and two TDs in 17 games. With the Commanders, the 26-year-old will add depth to a wideout corps that is currently led by Terry McLaurin and Jahan Dotson. In that context, Zaccheaus has some bounce-back potential if he can carve out steady snaps in 2024 behind the team's top duo.

DeShawn Williams BUF DE
Bills' DeShawn Williams: Lands in Buffalo
12h agoThe Bills signed Williams to a one-year contract Thursday, Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.com reports.
Williams suited up for 16 regular-season games with the Panthers last season, a span in which he racked up 33 tackles (13 solo) and one sack. He stands to bolster Buffalo's defensive line as a depth piece for the 2024 season.

Jayden Daniels 2005 QB
Jayden Daniels: Throws at LSU Pro Day
13h agoDaniels, who opted to not throw at the NFL Scouting Combine, did so at LSU's Pro Day on Wednesday, Eric Edholm of NFL.com reports.
Per the report, Daniels, who measured in at 6-foot-3⅝, 210 pounds, was slated to spend time afterward with the Patriots, Commanders, Giants, Vikings, Broncos and Raiders. As next month's draft approaches, the 2023 Heisman Trophy winner is viewed as one of the top options at the QB position along with USC's Caleb Williams, North Carolina's Drake Maye and Michigan's J.J. McCarthy. While Williams is expected to be selected first overall, where Daniels lands remains to be seen, though what is clear is that the top four signal-callers figure to come off the board quickly, in any case.

Josiah Deguara JAC TE
Jaguars' Josiah Deguara: Inking with Jacksonville
15h agoThe Jaguars are slated to sign Deguara to a one-year contract, Jordan Schultz of BleacherReport.com reports.
Deguara spent the last four seasons handling a depth role in Green Bay, where he was drafted in the third round back in 2020. His versatility both as a blocker and on special teams will boost his chances of earning playing time behind Evan Engram, but Deguara peaked with a 25-245-2 receiving line in 2021 and doesn't appear to have much fantasy potential.

Garrett Crochet CHW RP
White Sox's Garrett Crochet: K's eight in first-career start
4m agoCrochet (0-1) went six innings, allowing one run on five hits and did not walk a batter to earn the defeat in Thursday's Opening Day 1-0 loss to the Tigers. He struck out eight.
It was an impressive performance for Crochet, who earned the Opening Day nod despite having never made a start in his previous 72 big league outings. The lefty struck out eight while going toe-to-toe with Kansas City's Tarik Skubal, who also tossed six innings but didn't yield a single run. Crochet is set for a tougher matchup his next time out, currently slated to take place mid-week against Atlanta in the friendly confines of Guaranteed Rate Field.

David Fry CLE C
Guardians' David Fry: Records three hits on Opening Day
5m agoFry went 3-for-4 with a double, two runs and an RBI in Thursday's 8-0 Opening Day win over Oakland.
Fry got the start at DH and batted fifth in the order following a strong spring during which he hit .295 with a pair of homers and eight RBI. The 28-year-old scored Cleveland's first run of the campaign in the second inning Thursday, coming around to score on a Tyler Freeman double following his own one-out two-bagger. In addition to his three hits, Fry added a sacrifice fly in the ninth frame to cap the scoring in the contest. It will take much more than one game for him to gain viability in mixed fantasy leagues, though the fact that Fry holds catcher eligibility and may log occasional time at DH in addition to being able to play the infield and outfield gives him some intrigue, especially in two-catcher formats.

Cavan Biggio TOR 2B
Blue Jays' Cavan Biggio: Reaches thrice, homers
6m agoBiggio went 1-for-2 with a solo home run and an additional run scored during Thursday's win over Tampa Bay.
Biggio was excellent from the nine-slot Thursday, picking up his first long ball of the campaign in just his second at-bat. The 29-year-old has hit better than .235 just once in his five-year career and has seen fewer than 340 plate appearances in four straight campaigns, but he could have the opportunity to exceed both of those marks in 2024 if Thursday is any indication.
-
George Springer TOR RF
Blue Jays' George Springer: Hits first home run of season
12m agoSpringer went 1-4 with a solo home run and an additional run scored during Thursday's win over the Rays.
Springer kicked off the Blue Jays' scoring Thursday, delivering a solo homer off Zach Eflin in the fourth inning for the team's first run. While he wouldn't get another hit, Springer was walked in the seventh and eventually came around to score on a Bo Bichette double. Batting atop a stacked Toronto lineup once again this season, Springer should provide ample fantasy value from the outfield position.
-
Pablo Lopez MIN SP
Twins' Pablo Lopez: Goes seven strong to earn win
14m agoLopez (1-0) tossed seven innings, allowing one run on four hits and seven strikeouts to earn the victory in Minnesota's 4-1 win at Kansas City on Opening Day.
It took Lopez just 84 pitches to complete seven frames as he walked none in a dominant effort. His lone blemish in the box score was a leadoff home run by Royals' third baseman Maikel Garcia, but otherwise Lopez was in control, throwing first-pitch strikes to 18 of the 24 batters he faced. Lopez earned his first all-star appearance in his first season with Minnesota last season and is looking to build on what was a high-quality 2023 season in which he set career-highs with 194.0 innings pitched, 11 wins and 234 strikeouts.
-
Jose Berrios TOR SP
Blue Jays' Jose Berrios: Picks up win on Opening Day
18m agoBerrios (1-0) went 6.0 innings and allowed two runs on six hits and one walk during Thursday's win over the Rays. He struck out six.
After kicking off 2023 with two straight losses, Berrios wasted no time getting in the win column to start the 2024 campaign, going six strong against Tampa Bay. Berrios was tagged for a solo homer by Yandy Diaz on just his fifth pitch of the game. However, he limited Rays' hitters two through five to a combined 0-for-11 with a walk. Berrios's next start is tentatively scheduled to come against the Astros.

De'Andre Hunter ATL SF
Hawks' De'Andre Hunter: Solid output in starting role
2h agoHunter finished Thursday's 123-122 overtime victory over Boston with 21 points (8-16 FG, 5-9 3Pt, 0-3 FT), 13 rebounds and one assist across 40 minutes.
Hunter has been starting in recent days and delivered another strong showing, as he's taking advantage of the fact that Jalen Johnson (ankle) and Saddiq Bey (knee) are out, with the latter not returning until next season. Hunter has reached the 20-point mark in three of his last five starts and in five of his previous eight appearances overall.
-
Bogdan Bogdanovic ATL SG
Hawks' Bogdan Bogdanovic: Puts up 22 points in win Thursday
2h agoBogdanovic closed with 24 points (9-19 FG, 2-8 3Pt, 4-4 FT), seven rebounds, five assists and one steal across 43 minutes during Thursday's 123-122 overtime win over Boston.
Bogdanovic's final stat line seems nice, but he struggled from deep once again, and he's gone 4-for-15 from three-point range over his last two games. He's talented enough to bounce back sooner rather than later, though, and he's scoring enough to remain viable in fantasy with most leagues in the playoffs.
-
Dejounte Murray ATL PG
Hawks' Dejounte Murray: Explodes for career-high 44 points
3h agoMurray racked up 44 points (18-44 FG, 6-19 3Pt, 2-2 FT), seven rebounds, seven assists, one block and two steals in 47 minutes during Thursday's 123-122 overtime victory over the Celtics.
Murray had one of the best games of his career on a night when the Hawks desperately needed him. He delivered by posting a career-best scoring output, and he capped it off by hitting the game-winning shot with less than a second left in overtime. Murray continues to play at an extremely high level in the absence of Trae Young (finger), and he's experiencing quite an uptick as a scorer, recording 28 or more points in four of his last five appearances.
-
Kristaps Porzingis BOS C
Celtics' Kristaps Porzingis: Stuffs stat sheet in loss to Hawks
3h agoPorzingis notched 20 points (8-20 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 2-3 FT), seven rebounds, two assists, three blocks and one steal in 41 minutes during Thursday's 123-122 overtime loss to the Hawks.
Porzingis didn't have his best shooting performance and needed 20 shots to score 20 points, but he still found a way to salvage his fantasy stat line due to his contributions in peripheral categories, particularly as a rebounder and defensive anchor down low. Porzingis has reached the 20-point mark in seven of his 12 appearances since the All-Star break, and while he holds a semi-secondary role on offense behind Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, he remains extremely valuable in fantasy due to his two-way ability and stat-filling capacity.
-
Jayson Tatum BOS PF
Celtics' Jayson Tatum: Scores 31 points in loss to ATL
3h agoTatum had 31 points (9-22 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 11-13 FT), 13 rebounds and six assists across 45 minutes during Thursday's 123-122 overtime loss to the Hawks.
For the second time in less than 10 days, Tatum carried the Celtics against the Hawks, but his efforts were not enough. Tatum has been playing at a very high level all season long, and he is on a scoring tear of late, reaching the 30-point mark in four of his last five contests.
-
Derrick White BOS SG
Celtics' Derrick White: Goes for 22 points in upset loss
3h agoWhite produced 22 points (8-11 FG, 5-6 3Pt, 1-1 FT), seven rebounds, five assists and one steal in 41 minutes during Thursday's 123-122 overtime loss to the Hawks.
White returned from a one-game absence and continues to play at an extremely high level in what has been a career-best season for him. He's now scored at least 17 points in each of his last five outings, topping the 20-point mark three times in that stretch. Even though he holds a secondary role in an offense led by Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, White remains an absolute must-start player in fantasy since he plays a solid two-way role for one of the best teams in the league while also shooting the ball at a very efficient clip from beyond the arc.

Dylan Guenther ARI RW
Coyotes' Dylan Guenther: Adds power-play helper
4m agoGuenther notched a power-play assist in Thursday's 8-4 win over the Predators.
Guenther continues to chip in regularly -- he has a point in seven of the last nine contests. He helped out on a Clayton Keller tally in the second period of Thursday's win. Guenther is up to 12 goals, 12 assists, 89 shots on net and 10 power-play points through 36 appearances this season. His top-six role with time on the first power-play unit makes him a solid fantasy addition down the stretch.
-
Josh Doan ARI RW
Coyotes' Josh Doan: Supplies two helpers
6m agoDoan notched a pair of assists, five shots on goal and a plus-2 rating in Thursday's 8-4 win over the Predators.
Doan set up Jack McBain in the first period and also fed Matias Maccelli for an empty-netter in the third. With two goals, two assists, 11 shots on net and a plus-4 rating through two appearances, Doan has quickly made a statement on his NHL readiness. The 22-year-old is seeing sheltered bottom-six minutes for now, allowing him to focus on contributing offense in his first taste of NHL action.

Jack McBain ARI C
Coyotes' Jack McBain: Buries goal in high-scoring win
8m agoMcBain scored a goal on three shots, added four hits, blocked two shots and went plus-2 in Thursday's 8-4 win over the Predators.
McBain got the Coyotes on the board at 8:00 of the first period. The center has four points over his last 11 contests, though he's mainly filled a bottom-six role with no power-play time. McBain is up to eight goals, 21 points, 49 shots on net, 168 hits, 41 PIM and a plus-6 rating through 59 outings overall.
-
Matias Maccelli ARI LW
Coyotes' Matias Maccelli: Fills empty cage
10m agoMaccelli scored an empty-net goal on four shots and went plus-2 in Thursday's 8-4 win over the Predators.
Maccelli has two goals and an assist over his last two games after a stretch in which he logged just three helpers over 11 contests. The 23-year-old forward had the first of the Coyotes' two empty-netters in this win. He's matched his point total (49) from last season while adding 132 shots on net and a minus-6 rating over 73 outings in 2023-24.
-
Nick Bjugstad ARI C
Coyotes' Nick Bjugstad: Reaches 20-goal mark
13m agoBjugstad scored a goal on three shots, added two PIM and went plus-2 in Thursday's 8-4 win over the Predators.
Bjugstad's second-period tally was his 20th of the season, and it also stood as the game-winner. The center has surged to the milestone mark, picking up seven goals and four assists over 13 outings in March. On the year, he has 42 points, 158 shots on net, 113 hits and a plus-13 rating through 72 appearances. Bjugstad's a safe streaming option while playing on the Coyotes' top line.
-
Nick Schmaltz ARI C
Coyotes' Nick Schmaltz: One of each in win
18m agoSchmaltz scored a goal on two shots, added an assist and went plus-4 in Thursday's 8-4 win over the Predators.
Schmaltz contributed his pair of points during the Coyotes' four-goal second period. He's had a stellar March with five goals and 14 assists over 14 contests while playing on the top line. Overall, the 28-year-old forward has 21 tallies, 33 helpers, 143 shots on net and a minus-14 rating through 70 appearances. His career highs of 23 goals and 59 points are both within reach if he stays hot over the last three weeks of the season.
