2h agoGM Chris Ballard noted Friday that Ogletree is off the NFL's Commissioner Exempt List, Stephen Holder of ESPN.com reports.
Per the report, Ogletree -- whose charges stemming from his arrest in December were dismissed last month -- is back with the Colts during offseason workouts. Prior to being placed on the Commissioner Exempt List on Dec. 30, Ogletree caught nine of his 21 targets for 147 yards and two TDs in 12 regular-season games with Indianapolis.

J.K. Dobbins BAL RBChargers' J.K. Dobbins: Should be ready for training camp
3h agoDobbins (Achilles), who agreed to terms with the Chargers on Thursday, "should be" ready for training camp according to GM Joe Hortiz, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
Tom Pelissero of NFL Network relayed last month that Dobbins -- who suffered a torn Achilles in Baltimore's regular-season opener in 2023 -- has been cleared for football activities, with previous reports having noted that the running back had resumed running this offseason. Based on the assessment of Hortiz on Thursday, Dobbins is still working his way back from his injury, but if the 2020 second-rounder is able to return to form, he and Gus Edwards (who also came over from the Ravens in free agency) have a chance to provide an effective 1-2 punch in the Chargers' backfield in 2024 under the guidance of offensive coordinator Greg Roman, who both players worked with in Baltimore.

Kerby Joseph DET DBLions' Kerby Joseph: Should be 100 percent for camp
4h agoJoseph (hip) -- who won't take part in practices this spring -- expects to be fully healthy by the start of training camp, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Joseph underwent an offseason procedure to address a hip injury that originally occurred in Week 2 of the 2023 campaign. Though he returned to play after missing two contests, en route to logging 82 tackles and four picks in 15 regular-season outings overall, the issue evidently lingered to the point that it required attention following the postseason. Once he's back to 100 percent, Joseph will reprise his starting free safety role with the Lions.

D.J. Chark CAR WRDJ Chark: Visits with Chargers
5h agoChark visited the Chargers on Thursday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Few teams are more in need of wide receivers, with the Chargers having released Mike Williams and traded Keenan Allen earlier this offseason. Chark has never come close to matching his 1,008-yard, eight-TD performance in 2019 for Jacksonville, but he did top 500 yards both of the past two seasons in Detroit and Carolina, starting 21 of 26 games along the way. Chark will turn 28 in September and doesn't figure to command a large contract.

Courtland Sutton DEN WRBroncos' Courtland Sutton: No concern about OTA absence
6h agoBroncos GM George Paton suggested Thursday that he isn't worried about Sutton's absence from voluntary offseason workouts, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports. "It's 100 percent voluntary," Paton said. "It's the first week of the offseason program. I've talked to Courtland. He's in a good place, and I'll just leave it at that."
Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reported Tuesday that Sutton's absence from voluntary OTAs is related to wanting a new contract. The wideout has two years and approximately $27.6 million remaining on his current deal, with only $2 million of that guaranteed. It's not the type of situation with especially high risk for a holdout, and Sutton looks to be especially important for Denver's offense after the team traded WR Jerry Jeudy to Cleveland in the offseason. It's not yet clear who will start across from Sutton at wide receiver, nor is it clear who will get the nod under center Week 1. The Broncos still have a lot to work out this spring and summer, with the upcoming NFL Draft presumably being a piece of that puzzle.

Lions' Kerby Joseph: Out until training camp

The report notes that Joseph is bouncing back from an offseason procedure to address a hip injury that he sustained in Week 2 of the 2023 season. Assuming he returns to health in time to begin the coming campaign, Joseph figures to serve as Detroit's starting free safety and is likely to rack up tackles and pass breakups in that role.

3m agoMorris was recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre by the Yankees on Friday.
He's taking the roster and bullpen spot of the injured Nick Burdi (hip). Morris was acquired via trade from the Guardians over the offseason and has posted a 1.93 ERA and 11:6 K:BB across 9.1 frames with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this season.

5m agoBurdi was placed on the 15-day injured list on Friday, retroactive to April 17, with right hip inflammation.
It's not clear when or how Burdi suffered the injury, but he will be sidelined for at least the next two weeks while he recovers. Burdi hasn't given up a run for the Yankees this season, putting up an 8:5 K:BB over 6.1 innings of work.

Aroldis Chapman PIT RPPirates' Aroldis Chapman: Suspension reduced to one game
8m agoChapman's suspension has been reduced to one game, Andrew Destin of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Chapman was given a two-game ban after getting into an altercation with an umpire during Monday's game versus the Mets. He will serve his one-game suspension Friday versus the Red Sox before rejoining the Pirates' bullpen Saturday.

Drury missed three games with tightness in his left hamstring, but he's ready to at least hit on Friday against his former team, the Reds. The 31-year-old has gotten off to a slow start at the plate for the Angels this season, putting up a .570 OPS with one home run in 16 contests.

15m agoDevers (knee) is out of the lineup for Friday's game at Pittsburgh, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.
Devers was diagnosed with a bone bruise on his left knee Thursday and will sit Friday for the third time in Boston's past three games. It's not anticipated the 27-year-old will require a trip to the injured list, but he may not see much action this weekend versus the Pirates. Bobby Dalbec is starting at third base in Devers' absence Friday.

18m agoHernaiz, optioned to Triple-A Las Vegas earlier in the day, went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in a win over Tacoma on Thursday.
Hernaiz put the first runs of the night on the board in the third inning with his shot to center, which plated Brett Harris. The 22-year-old struggled badly with big-league pitching during his 17-game stint in the majors; however, he got his 2024 minor-league tenure off in a manner akin to his 2023 body of work on the farm, when he fashioned a .319/.384/.454 slash line across 131 games between Double-A Midland and Triple-A Las Vegas.

33m agoEmbiid is questionable for Game 1 of the first-round series against the Knicks on Saturday due to left knee injury recovery.
Embiid appeared in five of the final seven regular-season matchups, averaging 30.4 points, 9.2 rebounds, 5.2 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.2 blocks in 30.6 minutes, after returning from a 29-game absence at the beginning of April. He also posted 23 points, 15 rebounds, five assists and a steal in 38 minutes during Philadelphia's Play-In victory over Miami on Wednesday. Embiid will likely be a regular on the injury report throughout the postseason, but barring a setback or new injury, it'd be surprising if the reigning MVP missed time.

2h agoCoach Jason Kidd said Friday that Lively (knee) is trending in the right direction and is on track to play in Sunday's Game 1 against the Clippers, Brad Townsend of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Lively missed the final eight regular-season games due to a right knee sprain but returned to full practices this week and has avoided a setback thus far. If available, the rookie will likely handle a backup role behind Daniel Gafford, but Lively has proven to be an excellent fit in Dallas and should still play around 20 minutes per game in the playoffs.

Hardaway will join the Mavericks in Los Angeles ahead of Sunday's Game 1 versus the Clippers, but his status for that matchup won't be determined until Saturday afternoon. The sharpshooter scored in double figures only twice across eight regular-season appearances in April.

3h agoMelton (back) has been ruled out for Saturday's Game 1 against the Knicks, Ky Carlin of USA Today reports.
Melton was unable to participate in Friday's practice session and will miss the start of the 76ers' first-round series. However, coach Nick Nurse said Friday that the team isn't ready to rule Melton out for the entirety of the series, so he should be considered day-to-day for now. The 25-year-old has appeared in just five games since Jan. 12, so even if he's cleared to return at some point during the playoffs, it wouldn't be surprising to see him face a minutes restriction.

Caruso was initially believed to have a significant left ankle sprain, but he experienced reduced swelling Thursday. It appears increasingly likely that the 30-year-old will be available for Friday's win-or-go-home matchup, but the Bulls will likely continue to monitor him in the hours leading up to tipoff.

Wesley Matthews ATL SGHawks' Wesley Matthews: Logs 10 minutes in elimination game
20h agoMatthews (hamstring) tallied zero points (0-2 FG, 0-2 3Pt) and one assist in 10 minutes Wednesday in the Hawks' 131-116 loss to the Bulls in the Eastern Conference Play-In Tournament.
Matthews missed the Hawks' final three games of the regular season with hamstring tightness, but he was able to make it back for what ended up being the team's lone postseason contest. The 37-year-old was an irregular member of the Atlanta rotation in 2023-24, appearing in 36 regular-season contests (three starts) while averaging 3.1 points, 1.5 rebounds, 0.7 three-pointers and 0.6 assists in 11.5 minutes while shooting 35.1 percent from the field. Matthews is scheduled for free agency this summer and could be headed for retirement.

8m agoMcMann (lower body) missed Friday's practice and is questionable for Game 1 versus Boston on Saturday, David Alter of The Hockey News reports.
McMann was absent for Toronto's final two regular-season contests due to the injury. He finished the 2023-24 campaign with 15 goals, 24 points, 52 PIM and 117 hits in 56 appearances. The 27-year-old averaged just 11:34 of ice time during the regular season and would likely see his minutes be similarly limited if he is an option for the postseason opener.

15m agoNylander (undisclosed) missed Friday's practice, putting his availability for Game 1 against Boston on Saturday in question, per Joshua Kloke of The Athletic.
Nylander set a new career high of 98 points and matched his personal best of 40 goals while playing in all 82 regular-season games. The Maple Leafs might experiment with having Auston Matthews, Mitchell Marner and William Nylander all on separate lines in an effort to spread their offense, so Nylander's absence would throw a significant wrench in that plan. If he can't play in Game 1, Noah Gregor, who is otherwise projected to be a healthy scratch, might serve in a bottom-six capacity.

Fast is currently stuck in a 24-game goal drought dating back to Feb. 13 versus the Stars. During his slump, the Swede notched six helpers, 23 shots and 30 hits while averaging 12:03 of ice time. Once given the all-clear, Fast should challenge Jack Drury or Stefan Noesen for a spot in the lineup.

1h agoKulak notched an assist, three shots on goal, four blocked shots, two PIM and a minus-2 rating in Thursday's 5-1 loss to the Avalanche.
A heavily rotated Oilers team stood no chance against the full force of the Avalanche's lineup. Kulak saw a season-high 20:49 of ice time in the contest, but he'll likely be back in his familiar third-pairing role for the start of the playoffs. The Oilers begin their first-round series against the Kings on Monday. Kulak concludes the regular season with 16 points, 94 shots on net, 88 blocked shots and 77 hits over 82 appearances.

Dennis Gilbert CGY DFlames' Dennis Gilbert: Ends season out of lineup
1h agoGilbert was scratched for 20 of the Flames' final 23 games this season.
Gilbert had a career year with seven points in 34 contests, but his playing time was sparse after the All-Star break. The physical defenseman is a pending unrestricted free agent and will likely have to settle for a two-way contract in 2024-25 after playing on a one-way deal the last two seasons.

Joel Edmundson TOR DMaple Leafs' Joel Edmundson: Ready for Saturday
1h agoEdmundson (rest) is set to play in Game 1 against Boston on Saturday, per Jonas Siegel of The Athletic.
Edmundson didn't play in Wednesday's 6-4 loss to Tampa Bay so that he could get a breather for the playoffs. He finished the regular season with a goal, six points, 80 hits and 65 blocks in 53 contests between Washington and Toronto. Edmundson is projected to start the postseason on the third pairing alongside Timothy Liljegren.
