Olamide Zaccheaus PHI WR
Commanders' Olamide Zaccheaus: Moving on to Washington
17m agoZaccheaus has agreed to a deal with the Commanders, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
In his only campaign with the Eagles, Zaccheaus (who caught 40 passes with the Falcons in 2022) finished the 2023 regular season with 10 catches for 164 yards and two TDs in 17 games. With the Commanders, the 26-year-old will add depth to a wideout corps that is currently led by Terry McLaurin and Jahan Dotson. In that context, Zaccheaus has some bounce-back potential if he can carve out steady snaps in 2024 behind the team's top duo.

DeShawn Williams CAR DT
Bills' DeShawn Williams: Lands in Buffalo
3h agoThe Bills signed Williams to a one-year contract Thursday, Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.com reports.
Williams suited up for 16 regular-season games with the Panthers last season, a span in which he racked up 33 tackles (13 solo) and one sack. He stands to bolster Buffalo's defensive line as a depth piece for the 2024 season.

Jayden Daniels 2005 QB
Jayden Daniels: Throws at LSU Pro Day
3h agoDaniels, who opted to not throw at the NFL Scouting Combine, did so at LSU's Pro Day on Wednesday, Eric Edholm of NFL.com reports.
Per the report, Daniels, who measured in at 6-foot-3⅝, 210 pounds, was slated to spend time afterward with the Patriots, Commanders, Giants, Vikings, Broncos and Raiders. As next month's draft approaches, the 2023 Heisman Trophy winner is viewed as one of the top options at the QB position along with USC's Caleb Williams, North Carolina's Drake Maye and Michigan's J.J. McCarthy. While Williams is expected to be selected first overall, where Daniels lands remains to be seen, though what is clear is that the top four signal-callers figure to come off the board quickly, in any case.

Josiah Deguara GB TE
Jaguars' Josiah Deguara: Inking with Jacksonville
6h agoThe Jaguars are slated to sign Deguara to a one-year contract, Jordan Schultz of BleacherReport.com reports.
Deguara spent the last four seasons handling a depth role in Green Bay, where he was drafted in the third round back in 2020. His versatility both as a blocker and on special teams will boost his chances of earning playing time behind Evan Engram, but Deguara peaked with a 25-245-2 receiving line in 2021 and doesn't appear to have much fantasy potential.

J.K. Dobbins BAL RB
J.K. Dobbins: Lines up AFC West visit
8h agoDobbins (Achilles) is visiting the Chargers on Thursday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Dobbins, who was recently medically cleared for football activities, is coming off a left Achilles tear after previously missing all of 2021 and about half of the 2022 season due to a torn ACL and proceeding issues. That medical history undercuts otherwise impressive career numbers for Dobbins, who has averaged 5.8 yards per carry and scored 13 touchdowns since entering the NFL in 2020 as a second-round pick by the Ravens, but only suited up for 24 games in that span. Reuniting with offensive coordinator Greg Roman could make the most sense as a landing spot for Dobbins, but it's possible he doesn't garner more interest than a potential prove-it deal. The Chargers signed Gus Edwards,a former Baltimore backfield mate of Dobbins, early in free agency.

Derek Stingley Jr. HOU CB
Texans' Derek Stingley: Slow start, strong finish
8h agoStingley recorded 39 tackles, 13 passes defensed and five interceptions over 11 regular-season games in 2023.
Stingley, a second-year cornerback and 2022 first-round draft pick, suffered a Week 3 hamstring that created issues for the defense early on, but upon his return Week 10, Stingley made an impact. He had interceptions in three straight games, including a Week 13 win over the Broncos. Stingley will return as Houston's top cornerback in 2024.

4m agoThe Mets placed Reid-Foley on the 15-day injured list Thursday, retroactive to March 25, with a right shoulder impingement.

Jordan Romano TOR RP
Blue Jays' Jordan Romano: Placed on 15-day IL
12m agoThe Blue Jays placed Romano on the 15-day injured list Thursday, retroactive to March 25, with right elbow inflammation.
General manager Ross Atkins indicated recently that he's hopeful Romano will require only a minimum stay on the injured list, which would mean an activation on April 9. Romano has not yet resumed throwing off a mound, though, so he still has some hurdles to clear before Atkins' hopes are realized. Chad Green, Yimi Garcia and Tim Mayza are candidates for saves while Romano is out, with Erik Swanson (forearm) also potentially entering the mix if he beats Romano back from the IL.

Blaze Alexander ARI SS
Diamondbacks' Blaze Alexander: Debuting Thursday
13m agoAlexander will bat seventh and serve as Arizona's designated hitter Thursday against Colorado.
A strong spring earned Alexander a spot on the D-backs' Opening Day roster, and he'll now be making his MLB debut against left-hander Kyle Freeland with Joc Pederson in the dugout. The 24-year-old Alexander slashed .291/.408/.457 with eight home runs and 52 RBI across 305 plate appearances at Triple-A Reno last season.

18m agoPederson isn't in the Diamondbacks' lineup for Thursday's game against the Rockies.

Max Scherzer TEX SP
Rangers' Max Scherzer: Throws bullpen session
21m agoScherzer (back) threw a bullpen session Tuesday, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.
It would appear to be the first time Scherzer has thrown off the mound since he underwent surgery in December to address a herniated disc in his back. Scherzer said that his pitching arm feels good and he estimated that he's in what would be the early February portion of his throwing program if he had been coming into a normal spring training rather than rehabbing from surgery. Rangers general manager Chris Young said Wednesday that there are no plans at this point to shift Scherzer to the 60-day injured list, per Buster Olney of ESPN, suggesting the veteran right-hander could be ready to rejoin the rotation before the end of May.

Ji-Hwan Bae PIT 2B
Pirates' Ji Hwan Bae: Placed on 10-day IL
31m agoThe Pirates placed Bae on the 10-day injured list Thursday, retroactive to March 25, with a left hip flexor strain.
Bae is coming along in his recovery, having progressed to full baseball activities, but he simply ran out of time to be ready for Opening Day. The hope is that Bae's stay on the IL will be a brief one. Once healthy, he's pegged for a utility role.

Wizards' Richaun Holmes: Out Friday
2m agoHolmes (toe) has been ruled out for Friday's game against the Pistons.

-

2m agoDavis (knee) is questionable to play Friday against the Pacers.
Davis missed Wednesday's game in Memphis, which resulted in Jaxson Hayes drawing a spot-start, and he finished with 14 points, seven rebounds, one assist, one steal, one block and one turnover across 30 minutes. If AD is forced to miss another game, Hayes would make sense as a potential streaming option.

Cavaliers' Darius Garland: Likely to play against Philadelphia
1h agoGarland is listed as probable for Friday's game versus the 76ers due to a right ankle sprain.

-
Donovan Mitchell CLE SG

1h agoMitchell (nose) is questionable for Friday's game against the 76ers.
Mitchell has missed six straight games due to knee and nasal injuries, but he's trending in the right direction. If Mitchell plays, he may have to operate under heavy restrictions.
