Cody Davis NE DB
Cody Davis: Hangs up cleats
2h agoDavis announced his retirement from the NFL on Thursday, Chris Mason of Masslive.com reports.
Davis played 11 NFL seasons, spending five years with the Rams, two with the Jaguars and the final four of his career with the Patriots. The 34-year-old primarily played on special teams and hadn't played a defensive snap since 2020. He'll finish his career with 118 combined tackles, two interceptions and three fumbles recovered.

Olamide Zaccheaus PHI WR
Commanders' Olamide Zaccheaus: Moving on to Washington
2h agoZaccheaus has agreed to a deal with the Commanders, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
In his only campaign with the Eagles, Zaccheaus (who caught 40 passes with the Falcons in 2022) finished the 2023 regular season with 10 catches for 164 yards and two TDs in 17 games. With the Commanders, the 26-year-old will add depth to a wideout corps that is currently led by Terry McLaurin and Jahan Dotson. In that context, Zaccheaus has some bounce-back potential if he can carve out steady snaps in 2024 behind the team's top duo.

DeShawn Williams BUF DE
Bills' DeShawn Williams: Lands in Buffalo
5h agoThe Bills signed Williams to a one-year contract Thursday, Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.com reports.
Williams suited up for 16 regular-season games with the Panthers last season, a span in which he racked up 33 tackles (13 solo) and one sack. He stands to bolster Buffalo's defensive line as a depth piece for the 2024 season.

Jayden Daniels 2005 QB
Jayden Daniels: Throws at LSU Pro Day
5h agoDaniels, who opted to not throw at the NFL Scouting Combine, did so at LSU's Pro Day on Wednesday, Eric Edholm of NFL.com reports.
Per the report, Daniels, who measured in at 6-foot-3⅝, 210 pounds, was slated to spend time afterward with the Patriots, Commanders, Giants, Vikings, Broncos and Raiders. As next month's draft approaches, the 2023 Heisman Trophy winner is viewed as one of the top options at the QB position along with USC's Caleb Williams, North Carolina's Drake Maye and Michigan's J.J. McCarthy. While Williams is expected to be selected first overall, where Daniels lands remains to be seen, though what is clear is that the top four signal-callers figure to come off the board quickly, in any case.

Josiah Deguara JAC TE
Jaguars' Josiah Deguara: Inking with Jacksonville
8h agoThe Jaguars are slated to sign Deguara to a one-year contract, Jordan Schultz of BleacherReport.com reports.
Deguara spent the last four seasons handling a depth role in Green Bay, where he was drafted in the third round back in 2020. His versatility both as a blocker and on special teams will boost his chances of earning playing time behind Evan Engram, but Deguara peaked with a 25-245-2 receiving line in 2021 and doesn't appear to have much fantasy potential.

J.K. Dobbins BAL RB
J.K. Dobbins: Lines up AFC West visit
10h agoDobbins (Achilles) is visiting the Chargers on Thursday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Dobbins, who was recently medically cleared for football activities, is coming off a left Achilles tear after previously missing all of 2021 and about half of the 2022 season due to a torn ACL and proceeding issues. That medical history undercuts otherwise impressive career numbers for Dobbins, who has averaged 5.8 yards per carry and scored 13 touchdowns since entering the NFL in 2020 as a second-round pick by the Ravens, but only suited up for 24 games in that span. Reuniting with offensive coordinator Greg Roman could make the most sense as a landing spot for Dobbins, but it's possible he doesn't garner more interest than a potential prove-it deal. The Chargers signed Gus Edwards,a former Baltimore backfield mate of Dobbins, early in free agency.

Luke Jackson SF RP
Giants' Luke Jackson: Leaves game with lower body injury
12m agoJackson left in the seventh inning of Thursday's game against the Padres, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports.
Jackson signalled for the trainer after throwing ball four to Jackson Merrill, and Ryan Walker came in to close out the seventh. Baggarly notes that Jackson appeared to tweak his hamstring or groin, and more should be known following Thursday's game.
-
Esteury Ruiz OAK CF
Athletics' Esteury Ruiz: Not in Opening Day lineup
14m agoRuiz isn't starting Thursday against the Guardians.
Ruiz had been losing his grip on a starting job in Oakland's outfield, and the decision to leave him off the Opening Day lineup suggests he may have officially fallen a couple spots on the depth chart. The speedy outfielder may still see a decent amount of playing time in the field to give Seth Brown, JJ Bleday or Lawrence Butler a day off, but a reduced role could bring down the amount of stolen bases he is able to tally over the course of the season.
-
Max Kepler MIN RF
Twins' Max Kepler: Exits with possible injury
26m agoKepler was removed from Thursday's game against the Royals after fouling a ball off his right leg, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.
Kepler initially remained in the game to finish his at-bat after getting checked out by trainers, but he was replaced once the Twins took the field in the bottom of the eighth inning. The Twins will take a look at the 31-year-old outfielder and should have more information in the near future.
-
Nick Senzel WAS 3B
Nationals' Nick Senzel: Has broken thumb
1h agoSenzel broke his thumb while fielding a groundball before Thursday's game against the Reds, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports.
The Nationals should offer more details following Thursday's game, but it sounds like Senzel may be facing an extended absence to begin the season. Ildemaro Vargas entered the lineup as Senzel's replacement and figures to see regular reps at third base while he's out.
-
Enmanuel Valdez BOS 2B
Red Sox's Enmanuel Valdez: Playing 2B in opener
1h agoValdez is starting at second base and batting eighth for Thursday's opener against the Mariners, Christopher Smith of The Springfield Republican reports.
With Vaughn Grissom (groin) on the 10-day IL, Valdez will get first crack at second base Thursday ahead of Pablo Reyes. In spring training, Valdez slashed .204/.264/.531 with four home runs and seven RBI over 49 at-bats.
-
Will Brennan CLE RF
Guardians' Will Brennan: Not starting versus lefty
2h agoBrennan isn't in the Guardians' lineup for Thursday's game against Oakland.
With left-hander Alex Wood starting on the hill for the A's, the lefty-hitting Brennan will retreat to the dugout Thursday. Ramon Laureano will start in right field as a result, allowing David Fry to serve as Cleveland's DH and bat fifth.
-
Dejounte Murray ATL PG
Hawks' Dejounte Murray: Good to go Thursday
3m agoMurray (back) is available for Thursday's game against the Celtics, Kevin Chouinard of the Hawks' official site reports.
Murray will shake off a questionable tag and extend his consecutive games played streak to 21. Over his last 10 appearances, Murray has averaged 27.7 points, 9.3 assists, 4.9 rebounds and 2.6 steals in 37.5 minutes per game.
-
Maxi Kleber DAL C
Mavericks' Maxi Kleber: Questionable for Friday
3m agoKleber (knee) is questionable for Friday's game against the Kings.
Kleber has been listed as "questionable" the past two games due to a sore right knee, but he's been playing through it, so he feels a bit closer to probable. We should get another update on Kleber following Friday's shootaround.
-
Alec Burks NY PG
Knicks' Alec Burks: Questionable for Friday
4m agoBurks (shoulder) is questionable to play Friday against the Spurs.
Burks could be in line to miss a third straight game with a shoulder sprain, but even if he's available, his presence won't alter many fantasy lineups. The veteran guard is logging just 12.4 minutes per game since the beginning of March.
-
Luka Doncic DAL PG
Mavericks' Luka Doncic: Iffy due to Achilles soreness
5m agoDoncic (Achilles) is questionable for Friday's game against the Kings.
Doncic continues to battle left Achilles soreness but has appeared in five straight and 23 of Dallas' last 24 games. Over his last five starts, Doncic has averaged 29.2 points, 10.4 rebounds, 9.2 assists and 2.0 steals in 37.6 minutes per game.
-
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander OKC SG
Thunder's Shai Gilgeous-Alexander: Doubtful for Friday
6m agoGilgeous-Alexander (quadriceps) is doubtful to play Friday against the Suns.
Gilgeous-Alexander missed Wednesday's overtime loss to the Rockets due to a right quadriceps contusion, so it remains to be seen whether he'll be able to tolerate the pain enough to play, or if the Thunder will remain cautious with his recovery process given their position in the standings. If Gilgeous-Alexander ends up being ruled out Friday, then Cason Wallace could remain in the starting lineup.
-
Damion Lee PHO SG
Suns' Damion Lee: Remains out against OKC
29m agoLee (knee) is out for Friday's game against the Thunder, Gerald Bourguet of GoPHNX.com reports.
Lee has yet to resume on-court activities and has no clear timetable for his return, so he might miss the rest of the regular season and possibly the playoffs. The veteran guard has yet to play in 2023-24.
-
Sonny Milano WAS LW
Capitals' Sonny Milano: Still out Thursday
2m agoMilano (upper body) won't play Thursday versus the Maple Leafs.
Milano will miss his second game in a row with the injury. Michael Sgarbossa remains in the lineup in place of Milano, who will get his next chance to play Saturday versus the Bruins.
-
Mark Giordano TOR D
Maple Leafs' Mark Giordano: Ready to return Thursday
6m agoGiordano was activated off long-term injured reserve and will play Thursday versus Washington, David Alter of The Hockey News reports.
Giordano has a goal, seven points, 33 PIM, 42 hits and 76 blocks in 38 outings in 2023-24. His return to the lineup might result in Simon Benoit being a healthy scratch Thursday.
-
Noah Cates PHI LW
Flyers' Noah Cates: Unvailable Thursday
21m agoCates (personal) won't play Thursday versus the Canadiens.
Cates has been in a bottom-six role recently and hasn't recorded a point in his last nine games, so his absence won't make waves in fantasy. Cam Atkinson will draw into the lineup Thursday with Cates out. The Flyers return home to face the Blackhawks on Saturday.
-
Frederik Andersen CAR G
Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Slated to face Red Wings
1h agoAndersen is set to play at home against Detroit on Thursday, Cory Lavalette of the North State Journal reports.
Andersen is on a six-game winning streak in which he's allowed just eight goals on 163 shots (.951 save percentage). He's 10-1-0 with a 2.05 GAA and a .925 save percentage in 12 outings overall. Detroit has won only three of its last 13 contests, so this is a favorable matchup for Andersen.
-
Jesper Fast CAR RW
Hurricanes' Jesper Fast: Remains out Thursday
1h agoFast (upper body) won't return for Thursday's game against Detroit, per Cory Lavalette of the North State Journal.
Fast will miss his fifth consecutive contest. He has six goals and 18 points in 66 outings in 2023-24. When healthy, Fast typically serves in a bottom-six capacity.
-
Vince Dunn SEA D
Kraken's Vince Dunn: Unavailable Thursday
3h agoDunn (upper body) wore a non-contact jersey during Thursday's practice and is consequently expected to miss the evening's game against Anaheim, per Mike Benton of the Kraken Audio Network.
Dunn, who was last in the lineup March 4, has 11 goals and 45 points in 57 outings in 2023-24. The 27-year-old defenseman should resume his role as a top-four defenseman once he recovers.
