Josiah Deguara GB TE
Jaguars' Josiah Deguara: Inking with Jacksonville
2h agoThe Jaguars are slated to sign Deguara to a one-year contract, Jordan Schultz of BleacherReport.com reports.
Deguara spent the last four seasons handling a depth role in Green Bay, where he was drafted in the third round back in 2020. His versatility both as a blocker and on special teams will boost his chances of earning playing time behind Evan Engram, but Deguara peaked with a 25-245-2 receiving line in 2021 and doesn't appear to have much fantasy potential.

J.K. Dobbins BAL RB
J.K. Dobbins: Lines up AFC West visit
4h agoDobbins (Achilles) is visiting the Chargers on Thursday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Dobbins, who was recently medically cleared for football activities, is coming off a left Achilles tear after previously missing all of 2021 and about half of the 2022 season due to a torn ACL and proceeding issues. That medical history undercuts otherwise impressive career numbers for Dobbins, who has averaged 5.8 yards per carry and scored 13 touchdowns since entering the NFL in 2020 as a second-round pick by the Ravens, but only suited up for 24 games in that span. Reuniting with offensive coordinator Greg Roman could make the most sense as a landing spot for Dobbins, but it's possible he doesn't garner more interest than a potential prove-it deal. The Chargers signed Gus Edwards,a former Baltimore backfield mate of Dobbins, early in free agency.

Derek Stingley Jr. HOU CB
Texans' Derek Stingley: Slow start, strong finish
4h agoStingley recorded 39 tackles, 13 passes defensed and five interceptions over 11 regular-season games in 2023.
Stingley, a second-year cornerback and 2022 first-round draft pick, suffered a Week 3 hamstring that created issues for the defense early on, but upon his return Week 10, Stingley made an impact. He had interceptions in three straight games, including a Week 13 win over the Broncos. Stingley will return as Houston's top cornerback in 2024.

DeAndre Houston-Carson HOU DB
DeAndre Houston-Carson: Enters free agency
4h agoHouston-Carson recorded 41 tackles, five passes defensed, two interceptions and one fumble recovery over 13 regular-season games in 2023.
Houston-Carson started the season in Baltimore then finished up in Houston, where he played a career-high 447 snaps on defense. Injuries on the back end led to Houston-Carson playing a big role for the Texans, including two pivotal plays in a Week 10 win over the Bengals. He entered unrestricted free agency during the offseason.
-
Jimmie Ward HOU SAF
Texans' Jimmie Ward: Injury-marred 2023
4h agoWard (quadriceps) recorded 50 tackles, three passes defensed, one interception and one forced fumble over 10 games in 2023.
Ward, a team captain, was beset by injuries all season long. He missed time due to hip, hamstring and shoulder injuries before a quadricep ended his season in December. In between the setbacks, Ward played well, and his one interception was an end-zone pick that sealed a win over Denver. Houston went 6-4 in games he played and could use his stabilizing presence on the back end. Ward turns 33 in July and will be entering his 11th season.

Henry To'oTo'o HOU LB
Texans' Henry To'oTo'o: Contributes in rookie season
4h agoTo'oTo'o recorded 61 tackles, two passes defensed, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery over 15 regular-season games in 2023.
To'oTo'o, a fifth-round draft pick out of Alabama, started from Week 2 to Week 7 and played in both of Houston's playoff games during his rookie season. The Texans lost two linebackers to free agency -- Blake Cashman and Denzel Perryman -- which leaves To'oTo'o as a projected starter for 2024. However, Houston is expected to address the position during the offseason.

Jose Urquidy HOU SP
Astros' Jose Urquidy: Officially placed on injured list
13m agoThe Astros placed Urquidy on the 15-day injured list Thursday, retroactive to March 25, with a right forearm strain, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
He suffered the injury during an appearance in a minor-league game in mid-March. Urquidy hopes to be cleared to begin a throwing program before long. Even if that happens, he's unlikely to be ready before the end of April.
-
Bennett Sousa HOU RP
Astros' Bennett Sousa: Placed on injured list
16m agoThe Astros placed Sousa on the 15-day injured list Thursday, retroactive to March 25, with left shoulder inflammation, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
It's not clear when Sousa suffered the injury, but it will keep him out for at least the first couple weeks of the season. The left-handed reliever should be in the mix for a spot in the bullpen once he's healthy.
-
Justin Verlander HOU SP
Astros' Justin Verlander: Officially lands on 15-day IL
20m agoThe Astros placed Verlander on the 15-day injured list Thursday, retroactive to March 25, with right shoulder inflammation, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
Verlander's recovery is going well, as he most recently threw a live batting practice session Tuesday. The plan is for him to begin a rehab assignment soon, which should consist of multiple starts before he's ready to rejoin Houston's rotation.
-
Luis Garcia HOU SP
Astros' Luis Garcia: Goes on injured list
23m agoThe Astros placed Garcia on the 15-day injured list Thursday, retroactive to March 25, with a right elbow injury, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
Garcia will be a candidate to shift to the 60-day IL when the Astros need a 40-man roster spot. He will be out until around midseason while working his way back from Tommy John surgery.
-
Lance McCullers HOU SP
Astros' Lance McCullers: Placed on 60-day IL
26m agoThe Astros placed McCullers on the 60-day injured list Thursday with a right elbow injury, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
The move clears a spot on the 40-man roster for Tayler Scott. McCullers is expected to be out until late June or early July as he continues his recovery from right elbow surgery.
-
Tayler Scott HOU RP
Astros' Tayler Scott: Joins big-league roster
28m agoThe Astros selected Scott's contract from Triple-A Sugar Land on Thursday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
Scott had a strong spring to win a spot in the Astros' Opening Day bullpen. He figures to be used in low-leverage spots by manager Joe Espada.

Rudy Gobert MIN C
Timberwolves' Rudy Gobert: Records another double-double
4m agoGobert totaled 11 points (5-5 FG, 1-1 FT), 14 rebounds, four assists and two blocks in 34 minutes during Wednesday's 106-91 victory over the Pistons.
Gobert hasn't been the double-double machine he was during his Utah days since joining the Timberwolves, but there's no question he's taken a leap forward this season compared to the numbers he posted in 2022-23. Gobert ranks fifth in The Association in double-doubles this season with 46 out of 66 appearances.
-
Patrick Beverley MIL PG
Bucks' Patrick Beverley: Now expected to play Thursday
5m agoBeverley (wrist) is listed as probable for Thursday's game versus the Pelicans.
Beverley has been upgraded from questionable to probable Thursday despite dealing with a torn ligament in his right wrist. While the veteran point guard may pursue an offseason surgery, it appears he will attempt to play through his injury for the remainder of 2023-24.
-
Naz Reid MIN C
Timberwolves' Naz Reid: Leads Minnesota in scoring
8m agoReid supplied 21 points (9-18 FG, 1-8 3Pt, 2-2 FT), 10 rebounds and four assists across 31 minutes during Wednesday's 106-91 victory over the Pistons.
Reid was uncharacteristically poor from three-point range, as he failed to make multiple threes for the first time since March 12. However, he still played a prominent role on offense and led Minnesota in scoring, perhaps embracing the more significant role due to Anthony Edwards' subpar outing. Reid has scored over 15 points in five games in a row and in seven of his last eight contests, averaging 20.4 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 44.4 percent from deep during that eight-game stretch.
-
Joel Embiid PHI C
76ers' Joel Embiid: Traveling with team
10m agoCoach Nick Nurse said Thursday that Embiid (knee) will travel with the 76ers during their upcoming two-game road trip, Noah Levick of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
Levick also relays that Embiid participated in Philadelphia's light practice Thursday and will continue to do his rehab workouts during the road trip. It doesn't sound like Embiid will play Friday in Cleveland or Sunday in Toronto, but it's encouraging to see him cleared to travel. Nurse said Wednesday that the team is hopeful Embiid can suit up for at least a few regular-season games before the Play-In Tournament, which begins April 16.
-
DeMar DeRozan CHI SF
Bulls' DeMar DeRozan: Leads team in scoring
10m agoDeRozan racked up 27 points (9-18 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 8-10 FT), six rebounds, two assists and one steal over 38 minutes during Wednesday's 125-99 victory over the Pacers.
DeRozan led Chicago in scoring and minutes during Wednesday's blowout loss over Indiana. The veteran forward has displayed impressive efficiency across his 14 appearances in March, shooting 50.2 percent from the field.
-
Anthony Edwards MIN SG
Timberwolves' Anthony Edwards: Subpar against Detroit
12m agoEdwards totaled nine points (4-11 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 0-2 FT), three rebounds, five assists and one steal across 29 minutes during Wednesday's 106-91 win over Detroit.
Edwards had one of his lowest scoring performances of the season Wednesday, failing to reach double digits for just the seventh time in the current campaign, and overall, he looked rusty and out of sync most of the time. Edwards is simply too talented to struggle for a prolonged stretch, however, and he should be able to bounce back when the Timberwolves take on the Nuggets in a marquee matchup Friday.
-
Torey Krug STL D
Blues' Torey Krug: Game-time decision Thursday
4m agoKrug (illness) will take warmups Thursday before a decision is made on his status versus Calgary, per Lou Korac of NHL.com.
Krug is the Blues' top offensive defenseman with three goals and 31 assists in 71 appearances this season. Look for Tyler Tucker to play, should Krug be deemed unavailable to play.
-
Petr Mrazek CHI G
Blackhawks' Petr Mrazek: Guarding cage versus Sens
4m agoMrazek will patrol the road crease against Ottawa on Thursday, Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Mrazek has secured victories in three of his last four contests while registering a 3.26 GAA and .892 save percentage. The veteran backstop continues to see the bulk of the workload for the Hawks despite having youngster Arvid Soderblom on the roster and little to play for other than pride.
-
Jonas Brodin MIN D
Wild's Jonas Brodin: Returning to action Thursday
9m agoBrodin (lower body) will be back in the lineup versus San Jose on Thursday, according to Michael Russo of The Athletic.
Brodin missed a pair of games, after he was injured in Anaheim on March 20. He has seven goals, 23 points and 121 blocked shots in 51 contests this season. He is expected to partner with Zach Bogosian on the second unit.
-
Joel Eriksson Ek MIN C
Wild's Joel Eriksson Ek: Playing Thursday
10m agoEriksson Ek (lower body) will be in the lineup against San Jose on Thursday, Michael Russo of The Athletic reports.
Eriksson Ek returns following a five-game stint on the shelf due to his lower-body problem. While the 27-year-old center has scored just one goal in his last 11 shots, while chipping in 29 shots, he did racked up eight assists over that stretch. In addition to slotting into a top-line role, Eriksson Ek figures to also be on the No. 1 power-play unit where he has notched 19 of his 60 points this season.
-
Filip Gustavsson MIN G
Wild's Filip Gustavsson: Facing Sharks
12m agoGustavsson will start at home versus San Jose on Thursday, per Michael Russo of The Athletic.
Gustavsson shut out the Ducks in Anaheim in his last start, stopping 27 shots in a 4-0 victory. He is 18-15-4 with a 3.15 GAA and an .897 save percentage in 40 appearances this season. He has relinquished the No. 1 job with the Wild to Marc-Andre Fleury, but will try to regain his status as he has played well over his last three appearances. The Sharks are 31st in NHL scoring, averaging 2.21 goals.
-
Jake Walman DET D
Red Wings' Jake Walman: Still unavailable
22m agoWalman (lower body) will miss Thursday's tilt in Carolina, according to Ted Kulfan of The Detroit News.
Walman will sit out his fifth straight game with the injury. He has a career high 12 goals and 21 points in 61 games, along with 150 blocked shots. Walman could return as early as Saturday in Florida.
