Trent Taylor CHI WR49ers' Trent Taylor: Returns to The Bay
3h agoTaylor signed a one-year contract with the 49ers on Tuesday, Lindsey Pallares of the team's official site reports.
Taylor started his career in San Francisco before a two-year stay with the Bengals and spending the 2023 campaign with the Bears. The 29-year-old will likely have the opportunity to earn a role in the return game with the departure of Ray-Ray McCloud in free agency this offseason.

Trent Taylor: Could return to The Bay
3h agoTaylor has talked to the 49ers about a potential return to the team this offseason, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Taylor was selected by San Francisco in the fifth round of the 2017 Draft and spent three seasons there before stops in Cincinnati and Chicago. The 49ers do currently have a void in their return game, with Ray-Ray McCloud now in Atlanta, which is likely where the interest in Taylor lies.

5h agoWatson (shoulder) said Tuesday he's already resumed "throwing full speed" but that he's uncertain how large a workload he'll handle during OTAs and minicamp, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
Watson clarified that certain members of the Browns' medical staff are in favor of a more conservative approach to the quarterback's recovery from right shoulder surgery, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram, which would wait until training camp to have him fully practice. Still, Watson has been fully forthright in his confidence to be available for the Browns' season opener, and there appear to be no real worries about his Week 1 status. In case Watson misses part of the offseason, or struggles during the fall, Cleveland can lean on newly-signed, experienced backups Jameis Winston and Tyler Huntley.

6h agoDolphins general manager Chris Grier said Tuesday that there's "nothing imminent" on a deal between Beckham and the team, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com reports.
Beckham was reportedly extended a contract offer by Miami after visiting with the team back in March, but it doesn't appear that a signing is around the corner. The 31-year-old is coming off a forgettable 14-game season with the Ravens, in which he put up a 35-565-3 receiving line, but he could find more success as a No. 3 option behind Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. It could be that Beckham will need to wait until after the dust of the 2024 NFL Draft has settled to find a landing spot.

6h agoGeneral manager Chris Grier said Tuesday that he expects the Dolphins to pick up Waddle's fifth-year option, Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network reports.
The Dolphins have consistently stated a desire to come to terms with Waddle on a long-term contract, and Grier specifically dismissed trade rumors earlier this offseason. The third-year pro has recorded three straight 1,000-yard seasons to begin his career, becoming the first wideout to do so in franchise history, and there's little question of his value as a No. 2 read behind Tyreek Hill. Picking up Waddle's fifth-year option will keep him under contract with the Dolphins for two more seasons.

7h agoDecker said Tuesday he underwent foot/ankle surgery this offseason and resumed working out mid-February, Justin Rogers of The Detroit News reports.
Decker appears already recovered from his offseason procedure. The 30-year-old left tackle missed only two regular-season games last season while suiting up for all three of Detroit's postseason contests. Now heading into the final year of his contract, Decker is still playing at a high level.

8m agoGray didn't factor in the decision Tuesday against the Tigers after he allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits and three walks over seven innings. He struck out seven.
The right-hander recorded 17 swinging strikes on 97 pitches as he delivered his first quality start of the campaign. Gray lasted just 7.1 frames and allowed seven runs (five earned) in his first two outings, but he's pitched well in his past two starts with a 1.64 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 16:4 K:BB over 11 innings. He's still in search of his first win of the year and tentatively lines up for a home matchup with the Mariners early next week.

16m agoFoley earned his fifth save of the season Tuesday against the Rangers after he allowed a hit and a walk over a scoreless two-thirds of an inning.
Foley entered with a 4-2 advantage and needed just the final two outs, though he made things interesting by giving up a single and a walk to the first two batters he faced. The right-hander battled back quickly and retired the next two hitters on three pitches, and he's now a perfect 5-for-5 in save chances. Foley has surrendered just one unearned run through nine outings this season, and he appears to have a decent hold on the closer role as the only Detroit reliever with multiple saves.

17m agoMoreno was scratched from the Diamondbacks' lineup ahead of Tuesday's game versus the Cubs due to a right thumb contusion, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.
Moreno bruised his thumb on a wild pitch during Monday's contest, and the damage is apparently severe enough to keep him from playing Tuesday. While he recovers, Tucker Barnhart will enter to play catcher and bat ninth.

Adams will take a seat in game two of the team's three-game series with Los Angeles, giving way to Drew Millas behind the plate. Adams saw his four-game hitting streak get snapped in Monday's 6-4 win over the Dodgers, but he is still batting .300 with a homer, four RBI and two runs scored over 30 at-bats in eight games this season and he'll continue to handle the lion's share of work at catcher while Keibert Ruiz (illness) is unavailable.

Wideman was on injured reserve for all of 2023-24 due to a back injury. He was limited to just 46 games last season, playing in two campaigns after a one-year stint in the KHL. Wideman ends his NHL career with 78 points in 291 appearances.

Thomas made a strong first impression in the NHL with three goals, one assist, nine shots on goal and eight hits over seven games despite averaging 8:44 of ice time per contest. He'll still lose his roster spot to Alex Turcotte (upper body), who was activated from long-term injured reserve. It's possible Thomas stays in the AHL, as the Reign are set to begin a playoff run, but he should get a chance to compete for a roster spot for 2024-25.

Malenstyn is set to play on the fourth line after leaving Monday's game versus the Bruins. The 26-year-old is a key part of the Capitals' depth as a physical presence, and it's all hands on deck for a win-and-in situation for Washington.
