Cam Brown NYG LBDolphins' Cam Brown: Inks deal in Miami
11h agoBrown agreed to a contract with the Dolphins on Wednesday, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
Brown appeared in 60 career games as a special-teams ace during his first four seasons with the Giants, tallying 24 tackles over that span. The 26-year-old played exclusively on special teams in 16 games during the 2023 campaign, so he'll more than likely fulfill a similar role for Miami in 2024.

11h agoThe Browns placed Murray on the retired/reserve list Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Murray played for the Raiders, Cardinals, Bills and Titans during his six-year NFL career, appearing in 41 games with 20 starts during his professional tenure. The soon-to-be 31-year-old joined Cleveland's practice squad last November and then signed a futures contract in January, but he never played in any games for the team.

J.K. Dobbins BAL RBChargers' J.K. Dobbins: Slated to join Chargers
12h agoDobbins (Achilles) is in line to sign a one-contract with the Chargers, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
A second-round pick of the Ravens in 2020, Dobbins had two of his first four pro seasons cut short due to an ACL tear in 2021 and then a torn left Achilles in Week 1 of the 2023 campaign. In his 24 career appearances, he's averaged a robust 5.8 yards on 234 carries, gathered in 27 of 35 targets for 177 yards and scored 13 total touchdowns. Orthopedic surgeon Dr. Neal ElAttrache penned a letter to NFL teams in late March that Dobbins had received medical clearance to participate in football activities, but his new contract will be contingent on a physical. Once the move west to L.A. becomes official, Dobbins will join forces with former teammate Gus Edwards at the top of the RB depth chart, giving him some sway in fantasy working alongside QB Justin Herbert.

16h agoSlayton (thumb) hasn't reported to the Giants' voluntary workouts while he seeks a contract extension, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
Slayton, who led the team with 770 receiving yards in 17 games in 2023, has attended the Giants' voluntary offseason program in the past. The 27-year-old wideout is in line to earn $6.2 million in the final year of his contract in 2024, but Slayton is evidently looking to amend those terms. At this stage, Slayton -- who is recovering from an offseason procedure on his right thumb -- is poised to retain a key role in a Giants wideout corps that currently includes Wan'Dale Robinson and Jalin Hyatt.

20h agoGeneral manager Chris Grier said Tuesday that the Dolphins will exericse the fifth-year option on Phillips' (Achilles) rookie contract before May's deadline, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com reports.
A torn right Achilles' tendon limited Phillips to just eight games last season, but he's reportedly on track to be ready for Week 1 of the 2024 campaign. He's been one of the Dolphins' more impactful pass rushers over the past three seasons, and the team will be more in need of him than ever with Christian Wilkins having moved on to Las Vegas.

De'Von Achane MIA RBDolphins' De'Von Achane: Bulks up during offseason
20h agoAchane appears to have added muscle to his frame through his workouts earlier this offseason, Joe Schad of the Palm Beach Post reports.
A photo of Achane showing up for OTAs went viral, with some saying he looks much larger than he did during his rookie campaign. It's his second offseason bulking up for football without also considering track and field, though at this point it's unclear how much muscle he's added relative to his weight from the 2023 NFL Combine, where he ran a 4.32-second 40-yard dash at 188 pounds. Achane averaged 7.8 yards per carry and scored a touchdown per game last season, albeit with injuries (six missed games) and Raheem Mostert's presence (209 carries) limiting the rookie to 103 carries and 27 catches in his 11 appearances. The Dolphins still have Mostert under contract -- along with backups Jeff Wilson, Salvon Ahmed (foot) and Chris Brooks -- but they'll presumably prepare Achane with more of the backfield work in his second NFL season.

5m agoMoreno (thumb) entered Wednesday's game in the ninth inning as a pinch hitter and went 0-for-1 in a 5-3 loss to the Cubs.
Moreno was scratched from the lineup the last two games due to the injury. That he pinch hit for his replacement, Tucker Barnhart, and could have entered the game had Arizona tied it up in the ninth, suggests manager Torey Lovullo was comfortable with the thought of Moreno catching. He could rejoin the starting nine Thursday in San Francisco.

9m agoBarnhart went 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored in Wednesday's 5-3 loss to the Cubs.
Barnhart made a second consecutive start in place of Gabriel Moreno (thumb) and had his first extra-base hit of the season. Moreno did enter the game as a pinch hitter for Barnhart in the bottom of the ninth inning, flying out to right field. That suggests Moreno could return to the starting lineup Thursday at San Francisco.

14m agoPederson entered Wednesday's game as a pinch hitter and went 1-for-2 with a solo home run in 5-3 loss to the Cubs.
Pederson's ninth-inning blast closed the gap but was not enough for a Diamondbacks team that squandered opportunities with runners on base and made three errors. It was the second consecutive game with a home run for Pederson, who has hit safely in four of the last five contests. That stretch includes three of his four extra-base hits. Pederson is slashing .333/.467/.576 over 46 plate appearances.

2h agoRuiz went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run, a stolen base and an additional run in a win over the Cardinals on Wednesday.
Ruiz led off and went deep for the second time in three games, slugging a 412-foot shot to left center with Max Schuemann aboard in the third inning to open the scoring. The hot-hitting outfielder's recent power display is especially noteworthy, considering he belted only five across 490 plate appearances in 2023 and because he's been focused on improving his hard contact since spring training.

2h agoClase went 1-for-3 with a walk, a stolen base and a run in a win over the Reds on Wednesday.
The rookie continued to provide a much-needed spark to the underachieving Mariners offense in his third major-league start. Clase helped manufacture Seattle's fourth run of the game with the help of trademark speed he so often flashed during his minor-league career, drawing a seventh-inning walk, swiping second and then coming around to score on a Mitch Haniger single. Clase's strong early returns should further ensure he'll remain in a near everyday role while Dominic Canzone (shoulder) is on the shelf.

2h agoRojas entered Wednesday's win over the Reds as a pinch hitter in the seventh inning and remained in the game at third base, going 1-for-2 with a solo home run.
Rojas immediately delivered upon being inserted into the game to lead off the seventh, slugging a solo blast for his first home run of the season and extending the Mariners' lead to 3-1 at the time. The 29-year-old has now hit safely in five straight games, and with a .343 average and .896 OPS, he's clearly been one of the most productive hitters in a collection of mostly underachieving Seattle bats.

1h agoBogdanovic ended with 21 points (8-18 FG, 3-10 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five rebounds, four assists, two blocks and two steals in 37 minutes during Wednesday's 131-116 Play-In Game loss to the Bulls.
Bogdanovic jumped in and out of the starting lineup this season but still managed an average of 30.4 minutes per game, a career-best for the veteran. The sharpshooter saw a modest decline in his three-point percentage this season, averaging only 37.4 percent beyond the arc. He ended the season ranked fifth in the league with 651 three-pointers. Bogdanovic is in the midst of a four-year deal with the Hawks and he's expected to remain with the team.

Dejounte Murray ATL PGHawks' Dejounte Murray: Ends season with 30-point effort
1h agoMurray closed Wednesday's 131-116 Play-In Game loss to Chicago with 30 points (11-21 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 5-6 FT), seven rebounds, six assists and two steals across 46 minutes.
Despite dealing with an extended absence from Trae Young, Murray kept the team afloat and squeaked into the Play-In Bracket. Despite the disappointing end, Murray put together the best campaign of his seven-year career, averaging 22.5 points, 6.4 assists, 5.3 rebounds and 1.4 steals during his second year with the Hawks. While Young will almost certainly be headed elsewhere, Murray is locked into a contract with the Hawks and should continue to be a focal point of the offense next season.

1h agoYoung finished Wednesday's 131-116 Play-In Game loss to Chicago with 22 points (4-12 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 11-13 FT), two rebounds and 10 assists over 43 minutes.
Young may have played his last game in an Atlanta uniform Wednesday night. Young will definitely test the market after a disappointing end to the 2023-24 season, and it seems to be foregone conclusion that he'll be headed elsewhere. The Hawks went 12-11 during Young's most recent absence, proving that the current roster can play break-even ball without him. Young's departure will free up considerable cap space, and with Dejounte Murray locked into a deal, the Hawks may look for a capable off-the-ball guard to complement him.

1h agoDeRozan ended with 22 points (10-19 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 1-1 FT), six rebounds, nine assists, one block and one steal over 44 minutes during Wednesday's 131-116 Play-In Game victory over the Hawks.
DeRozan put together another successful season during his third season with the Bulls. Perhaps the biggest feather in DeRozan's cap is his attendance record, as he's played at least 74 games per season over three years in Chicago. The veteran will be an unrestricted free agent in the offseason, and the Bulls will probably make a competitive offer unless another team presents an irresistible package. For the time being, DeRozan's focus will be on advancing with a win against Miami.

Nikola Vucevic CHI CBulls' Nikola Vucevic: Records double-double in win
2h agoVucevic notched 24 points (11-21 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 1-2 FT), 12 rebounds and two assists in 37 minutes during Wednesday's 131-116 Play-In Game victory over the Hawks.
Although Coby White's heroics headlined the game, the most interesting positional battle occurred inside, where Vucevic and Clint Capela went toe-to-toe. Although Capela out-rebounded Vucevic, the Chicago big man displayed his ability to stretch the floor, forcing Capela to play further out. The result was a vulnerable interior defense for the Hawks, and the rest of the team took advantage with productive slashes to the basket. Things won't get any easier for Vucevic in the next game, as he'll face Bam Adebayo in a battle for the eighth seed.

White enjoyed a career night during the elimination game and led the Bulls in scoring by a wide margin. The fight for the eighth seed seems like a lost cause with the Boson Celtics looming as the eventual opponent, but few teams could have beaten the Bulls Wednesday night, galvanized by White's stellar evening. His stat line is a reminder that White should be considered as a favorite to win Most Improved Player honors.

Broberg was brought up from AHL Bakersfield on Tuesday to give the Oilers an option to rest defensemen. Cody Ceci and Darnell Nurse were rested Wednesday, and Broberg stepped into the lineup, setting up a Warren Foegele tally in the third period. This was Broberg's first point over 11 NHL appearances this season, and he's added five shots on net, nine blocked shots and a minus-3 rating. He could be in the lineup again Thursday versus the Avalanche if the Oilers opt to cycle other players out of the lineup.

Ekholm snapped a three-game dry spell by setting up a Sam Carrick tally in the first period. The 33-year-old Ekholm played in his 100th game as an Oiler on Wednesday -- he has 59 points and a plus-72 rating with the team. This season, he's at 45 points, 177 shots on net, 136 hits, 93 blocked shots and a plus-44 rating through 79 appearances. It is unclear if he'll play or receive rest Thursday versus the Avalanche.

Bouchard is up to two goals and four assists through nine outings in April. The 24-year-old defenseman has actually slowed down a bit compared to his season pace, which has seen him rack up 82 points (35 on the power play) with 220 shots on net, 105 blocked shots, 71 hits and a plus-34 rating through 81 appearances.

He's produced 16 points, 91 shots on net, 166 hits, 102 PIM and a minus-11 rating through 76 outings overall, mainly in a fourth-line role.

If the Oilers opt to rest their star players Thursday versus the Avalanche, Foegele could be in line for a larger role, making him an attractive option for DFS formats.

Calvin Pickard EDM GOilers' Calvin Pickard: Gives up four goals in loss
6h agoPickard allowed four goals on 23 shots in Wednesday's 5-2 loss to the Coyotes. The fifth goal was an empty-netter.
Pickard has lost four of his last six outings, giving up 19 goals in that span. The 32-year-old dropped to 12-7-1 with a 2.48 GAA and a .908 save percentage through 22 appearances this season. The Oilers are locked in to the No. 2 spot in the Pacific Division, so they have no motivation to play starter Stuart Skinner versus the Avalanche on Thursday in the regular-season finale, but the team has not announced its goaltending plans yet.
