Jean-Charles was not tendered by New Orleans as a restricted free agent, but he will return to the team nonetheless. After spending his first two seasons in Green Bay, the 25-year-old suited up for eight games between the 49ers and Saints in 2023. He accumulated four tackles (three solo) in the process. The Appalachian State product will now look to make an impression during offseason workouts.

6h agoThe Packers re-signed Wilson on Monday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
An undrafted rookie in 2023, Wilson made the Packers' initial 53-man roster following the preseason and even mixed into seven regular-season games, taking 14 carries for 85 yards and hauling in four of five targets for 23 yards while working behind Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon. Green Bay swapped out Jones for Josh Jacobs and also retained Dillon this offseason, meaning Wilson is poised for a similar role in the coming campaign, barring potential additions to the backfield in free agency or the draft.

McCloud finished his 2023 campaign on the sidelines after getting injured in the team's season finale against the Eagles. Healthy now, the Notre Dame product can focus on being ready for a third campaign in New York after signing his free-agent tender.

7h agoCrosby (knee) said, "I'm feeling better than I ever have," Monday, after he spent much of 2023 fighting through a knee injury that required draining multiple times a week, Nick Shook of NFL.com reports.
Crosby set career highs in combined tackles (90) and sacks (14.5) last season despite spending much of the campaign hampered by a bursa joint issue. The 26-year-old underwent a procedure to correct it in January after the season ended and began rehabbing it soon after, which went "incredible," according to Crosby.

7h agoCoach Andy Reid indicated Monday that Rice is expected to remotely participate in the initial stage of the Chiefs' voluntary offseason program via virtual meetings, NFL.com reports.
Per Adam Teicher of ESPN.com, Rice -- who is is facing one count of aggravated assault, one count of collision involving serious bodily injury and six counts of collision involving injury stemming from his involvement in a car crash in Dallas last month -- turned himself in to police last week and was subsequently released on bond. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the league has been closely monitoring developments related to the incident, while Reid noted that it remains to be seen whether the wideout will participate later in the spring when the team's offseason program moves to Kansas City. "I want to keep gathering the information from the law enforcement people,'" Reid said Monday. "We'll just see where everything goes from there (and) let the process take place."

8h agoForbes (back) was released by the Browns on Monday with a failed physical designation, Chris Easterling of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
Forbes missed all of 2023 due to a back injury suffered during training camp. It's unclear what the injury is specifically or how close he could be to being healthy enough to compete. Either way, the 27-year-old will now be a free agent until he is at least fully recovered.

5m agoWard went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run and an additional run scored during Monday's 7-3 win over the Rays.
Ward launched his third homer of the last four games and extended his hit streak to eight consecutive games. The long ball plated Anthony Rendon in the ninth inning and gave closer Carlos Estevez four runs of cushion. Ward might be headed toward a breakout campaign, being tied for fourth in the majors in home runs (six) with an impressive .313/.333/.612 slash line through 16 games.

13m agoSandoval didn't factor into the decision Monday, allowing one run on four hits and two walks across five innings against Tampa Bay. He struck out three.
Sandoval fared much better in his second go-around with the Rays on Monday, allowing one run after surrendering four (three earned) against them on April 9. However, his efforts didn't translate into the win column as the Halos didn't get on the board until the eighth frame. The southpaw owns a 4.67 ERA through four starts and has yet to allow a home run in 17.1 innings of action. He's scheduled for a Saturday start against the Reds at Great American Ball Park.

21m agoEflin didn't factor into the decision Monday, allowing six hits and no walks with five strikeouts over 6.1 innings against the Angels.
Eflin got his revenge against the Angels on Monday, holding them scoreless after allowing five runs in five innings against them on April 8. The 30-year-old has yielded mixed results through four starts, giving up at least five earned runs twice while surrendering one run over 12.2 innings during his other pair of starts. Despite the inconsistencies, Eflin's command has been impeccable, with two walks allowed in 23.1 innings. Eflin's projected for a start against the Yankees on Saturday.

Garcia notched his second home run of the campaign Monday but was unable to collect his first multi-hit game of 2024. The outfielder has generated a hit in five of his last six games but owns a .200/.220/.375 slash line through 14 appearances.

35m agoDoval picked up the save Monday, allowing one hit and no walks with two strikeouts across 1.1 scoreless innings.
Doval retired four of the five batters he faced Monday to earn his second save of the campaign. After racking up 39 saves a season ago, Doval has only seen two save chances and has only made four appearances this far. however, he'll likely have opportunities to enhance those numbers with two more games coming against the 3-14 Marlins and a four-game series against the Diamondbacks left this week.

41m agoHarrison (2-1) earned the win Monday, allowing three runs on eight hits and a walk over 6.0 innings against the Marlins. He struck out two.
Harrison turned in another solid outing Monday, yielding three or fewer runs for the third time in four starts. However, Harrison gave up a solo home run to Avisail Garcia in the second inning for his fifth long ball allowed on the year. After a solid rookie campaign, Harrison has proven to be a reliable arm in the back end of San Francisco's rotation. The 22-year-old is expected to make another start Saturday against the D-Backs.

2h agoSarr left Monday's Game 3 of the G League Finals against the Maine Celtics due to an ankle injury, Jared Weiss of The Athletic reports.
Sarr was involved in a collision while pursuing a rebound, and he ultimately needed to be carried to the locker room. His return to Monday's clash seems unlikely given the circumstances in which he exited.

Golden State will be traveling to Sacramento for Tuesday's showdown, returning to the scene of the crime where Curry dropped 50 points (20-38 FG, 7-18 3Pt) in a victorious Game 7 of last year's first-round series between these teams. Additionally, Curry averaged 31.0 points, 6.3 rebounds and 4.8 assists in four games against the Kings this season.

Wood has been sidelined since undergoing an arthroscopic procedure on his left knee in March, and he'll remain sidelined as the Lakers begin postseason play Tuesday. It's unclear if he'll be available at any point if the team advances in the postseason.

Vanderbilt's defensive efforts were a key part of the Lakers' run to the Western Conference Finals last season. However, he has been unavailable for most of 2023-24, playing just 29 regular-season games (six appearances). Vanderbilt hasn't played since Feb. 1, so his continued absence shouldn't impact coach Darvin Ham's rotation.

James continues to deal with left ankle peroneal tendinopathy, but he'll likely be able to suit up as the Lakers begin postseason play Tuesday. He appeared in the team's final three regular-season games and averaged 32.7 points, 11.0 assists, 9.0 rebounds and 3.0 steals in 38.3 minutes per game.

This was Gustafsson's first point in his last seven appearances. The 32-year-old defenseman ends the regular-season with 31 points, 93 shots on net, 66 blocked shots, 63 hits and a plus-3 rating over 76 appearances. He'll likely remain in a bottom-four role as a power-play specialist to begin the playoffs.

Mika Zibanejad NYR CRangers' Mika Zibanejad: Draws shorthanded assist

Zibanejad helped out on an Adam Fox tally in the second period. The assist extended Zibanejad's point streak to six games (two goals, six helpers) to close out the regular season. He had 72 points in 81 appearances, with his .89 points per game being his lowest pace in six years. Despite the down year, the 30-year-old center remains on the Rangers' top line as well as a key contributor in all situations after posting a career-high six shorthanded points and topping 30 power-play points (31) for the second straight season.

Kreider set up Jack Roslovic's goal in the first period and Adam Fox's shorthanded tally in the second. Over the last 10 games of the regular season, Kreider racked up six goals and four assists. The winger is at 39 goals, 75 points, 246 shots on net, 99 hits and a plus-19 rating over 82 contests this season, his second-most productive campaign. He earned 29 power-play points and a career-high five shorthanded points in 2023-24.

Roslovic snapped a four-game point drought with the tally. The 27-year-old winger has been decent for the Rangers with eight points over 19 contests since he was traded from the Blue Jackets. On the year, he has 31 points, 117 shots on net and a minus-10 rating through 59 appearances. Roslovic ended the regular season on the Rangers' top line, but he could be quickly shuffled down the lineup if the team has any stumbles in the playoffs.

Lafreniere made sure to end his three-game point drought prior to the playoffs, scoring the Rangers' fourth goal in this contest. The winger was near a point-per-game pace over the last six weeks, racking up 11 goals and 10 assists over 22 contests since the start of March. He's at 28 goals, 57 points, 217 shots on net, 73 hits, 40 PIM and a plus-2 rating through 82 outings overall. Lafreniere should open the playoffs in the second-line role he's made his own during the regular season.

Adam Fox NYR DRangers' Adam Fox: Two-point effort in win
19m agoFox scored a shorthanded goal on two shots, added an assist, blocked three shots and went plus-2 in Monday's 4-0 win over the Senators.
Fox has multiple shorthanded points in each of the last four seasons. The defenseman has also recorded three straight 70-point campaigns, finishing 2023-24 with a career-high 17 goals and 56 helpers over 72 appearances. Fox also earned 33 power-play points, 123 blocked shots and a plus-21 rating. The 26-year-old defenseman remains one of the best in the league at his position, and he'll be tasked with a workhorse role during the Rangers' postseason run.
