DeShawn Williams CAR DT
Bills' DeShawn Williams: Lands in Buffalo
30m agoThe Bills signed Williams to a one-year contract Thursday, Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.com reports.
Williams suited up for 16 regular-season games with the Panthers last season, a span in which he racked up 33 tackles (13 solo) and one sack. He stands to bolster Buffalo's defensive line as a depth piece for the 2024 season.

Jayden Daniels 2005 QB
Jayden Daniels: Throws at LSU pro day
1h agoDaniels, who opted to not throw at the NFL Scouting Combine, did so at LSU's pro day Wednesday, Eric Edholm of NFL.com reports.
Per the report, Daniels, who measured in at 6-foot-3⅝, 210 pounds, was slated to spend time afterward with the Patriots, Commanders, Giants, Vikings, Broncos and Raiders. As next month's draft approaches, the 2023 Heisman Trophy winner is viewed as one of the top options at the QB position, along with USC's Caleb Williams, North Carolina's Drake Maye and Michigan's J.J. McCarthy. While Williams is expected to be selected first overall, where Daniels lands remains to be seen, though what is clear is that the top four signal-callers figure to come off the board quickly, in any case.

Josiah Deguara GB TE
Jaguars' Josiah Deguara: Inking with Jacksonville
3h agoThe Jaguars are slated to sign Deguara to a one-year contract, Jordan Schultz of BleacherReport.com reports.
Deguara spent the last four seasons handling a depth role in Green Bay, where he was drafted in the third round back in 2020. His versatility both as a blocker and on special teams will boost his chances of earning playing time behind Evan Engram, but Deguara peaked with a 25-245-2 receiving line in 2021 and doesn't appear to have much fantasy potential.

J.K. Dobbins BAL RB
J.K. Dobbins: Lines up AFC West visit
5h agoDobbins (Achilles) is visiting the Chargers on Thursday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Dobbins, who was recently medically cleared for football activities, is coming off a left Achilles tear after previously missing all of 2021 and about half of the 2022 season due to a torn ACL and proceeding issues. That medical history undercuts otherwise impressive career numbers for Dobbins, who has averaged 5.8 yards per carry and scored 13 touchdowns since entering the NFL in 2020 as a second-round pick by the Ravens, but only suited up for 24 games in that span. Reuniting with offensive coordinator Greg Roman could make the most sense as a landing spot for Dobbins, but it's possible he doesn't garner more interest than a potential prove-it deal. The Chargers signed Gus Edwards,a former Baltimore backfield mate of Dobbins, early in free agency.

Derek Stingley Jr. HOU CB
Texans' Derek Stingley: Slow start, strong finish
5h agoStingley recorded 39 tackles, 13 passes defensed and five interceptions over 11 regular-season games in 2023.
Stingley, a second-year cornerback and 2022 first-round draft pick, suffered a Week 3 hamstring that created issues for the defense early on, but upon his return Week 10, Stingley made an impact. He had interceptions in three straight games, including a Week 13 win over the Broncos. Stingley will return as Houston's top cornerback in 2024.

DeAndre Houston-Carson HOU DB
DeAndre Houston-Carson: Enters free agency
5h agoHouston-Carson recorded 41 tackles, five passes defensed, two interceptions and one fumble recovery over 13 regular-season games in 2023.
Houston-Carson started the season in Baltimore then finished up in Houston, where he played a career-high 447 snaps on defense. Injuries on the back end led to Houston-Carson playing a big role for the Texans, including two pivotal plays in a Week 10 win over the Bengals. He entered unrestricted free agency during the offseason.

Erik Miller SF RP
Giants' Erik Miller: Recalled from Triple-A
3m agoThe Giants recalled Miller from Triple-A Sacramento on Thursday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Miller was optioned a couple weeks ago but winds up winning a spot in the Opening Day bullpen. The left-hander will be making his major-league debut, assuming he gets into a game.
-
Braxton Garrett MIA SP
Marlins' Braxton Garrett: Shifts to 15-day IL
3m agoThe Marlins placed Garrett (shoulder) on the 15-day injured list Thursday, retroactive to March 25.
The left-hander was diagnosed with shoulder soreness early in camp and is now officially on the injured list, as expected. Garrett is scheduled to pitch in a rehab game Thursday and should continue ramping up his workload over the next couple weeks. He could make his season debut in mid-April, assuming he's able to avoid any setbacks.

Landen Roupp SF RP
Giants' Landen Roupp: Makes Opening Day roster
5m agoThe Giants selected Roupp's contract from Double-A Richmond on Thursday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Roupp came into camp as a long shot to break with the big club, but he won a bullpen job after posting a 2.25 ERA and 13:4 K:BB over eight Cactus League frames. The 25-year-old figures to be used in low-leverage spots initially but could work his way into more pressurized situations.
-
Nick Ahmed SF SS
Giants' Nick Ahmed: Added to roster, starting at SS
8m agoThe Giants selected Ahmed's contract from Triple-A Sacramento on Thursday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Ahmed was signed as a non-roster invitee in late February but wound up winning the shortstop job over Marco Luciano, who has been optioned. The veteran infielder is starting at short and batting ninth in Thursday's opener in San Diego.
-
Eury Perez MIA SP
Marlins' Eury Perez: Moves to injured list
9m agoThe Marlins placed Perez (elbow) on the 15-day injured list Thursday, retroactive to March 25.
The 20-year-old has been destined for the injured list since being diagnosed with elbow inflammation last week, and the Marlins officially made the transaction Thursday. Perez resumed throwing over the weekend but will need to time to build up his arm strength, so he should be sidelined well beyond the 15-day minimum.
-
Nick Gordon MIA CF
Marlins' Nick Gordon: Handling left field in opener
11m agoGordon is starting in left field and batting eighth in Thursday's opener against the Pirates.
Gordon had a solid spring and ultimately gets the starting nod over Avisail Garcia on Opening Day. The 28-year-old missed most of the 2023 season due to injury, but he showed some promise in 2022 and might prove to be a sneaky fantasy asset if he can carve out a regular role.

Caleb Martin MIA SF
Heat's Caleb Martin: Expected to play Friday
1m agoMartin (ankle) is probable for Friday's game versus the Trail Blazers, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
Martin continues to deal with a nagging ankle injury but is expected to play through it Friday. If Martin is upgraded to available, he should continue to serve as one of Miami's primary options off the bench at the forward position.
-
Jaime Jaquez Jr. MIA SF
Heat's Jaime Jaquez: Dealing with minor ankle issue
4m agoJaquez is probable for Friday's game against Portland due to an ankle injury, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
Jaquez continues to manage knee and ankle injuries, but he's missed just one game since the beginning of February. Over his last 26 appearances (five starts), Jaquez has averaged 9.6 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.0 steals in 27.8 minutes per game.
-
Orlando Robinson MIA C
Heat's Orlando Robinson: Heads back to G League
4m agoThe Heat assigned Robinson to the G League's Sioux Falls Skyforce on Thursday, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
Robinson will head back to the G League now that Kevin Love's (heel) return is imminent. Robinson should continue to receive increased playing time with Sioux Falls.
-
Kevin Love MIA PF
Heat's Kevin Love: Officially probable
7m agoLove (heel/personal) is probable for Friday's game against Portland, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
Love missed Thursday's practice for personal reasons and continues to manage a heel issue but should still suit up Friday, which would mark his first appearance since Feb. 27. If the veteran is cleared to suit up, he'll presumably handle a limited role off the bench.
-
Jimmy Butler MIA SF
Heat's Jimmy Butler: Expected to play against Portland
8m agoButler (illness) is probable for Friday's game versus the Trail Blazers, Tim Reynolds of Associated Press reports.
Butler is expected to return to action Friday after missing Miami's previous contest with a non-COVID illness. If he's upgraded to available, the star forward will likely reclaim his starting spot from Jaime Jaquez (ankle).
-
Duncan Robinson MIA SG
Heat's Duncan Robinson: Won't play Friday
9m agoRobinson (back) has been ruled out for Friday's game against the Trail Blazers, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
Robinson and Tyler Herro (foot) remain out, so Patty Mills is in line to draw another start at shooting guard. Robinson's next chance to suit up will come Sunday in Washington, but he'll be unlikely to play in that contest unless he can return to practice Saturday.
-
Igor Shesterkin NYR G
Rangers' Igor Shesterkin: Slated to start Thursday
2m agoShesterkin is set to start on the road against Colorado on Thursday, per Ryan Boulding of NHL.com.
Shesterkin is going through a rough patch in which he's posted a 3.56 GAA and an .881 save percentage across his past five outings. He's 31-15-2 with a 2.65 GAA and a .911 save percentage in 48 contests overall. Shesterkin will have a difficult time rebounding against the Avalanche, who lead the league offensively with 3.72 goals per game.
-
Philipp Grubauer SEA G
Kraken's Philipp Grubauer: Facing Ducks
5m agoGrubauer was the first goaltender off the ice at morning skate, Mike Benton of the Kraken Audio Network reports, and is expected to get the home start versus Anaheim on Thursday.
Grubauer has struggled of late, going 0-3-1 with a 4.04 GAA and an .870 save percentage in five appearances. He is 10-13-2 overall this season. The Ducks are averaging 27.0 shots on goal, 30th in the NHL.
-
Connor Ingram ARI G
Coyotes' Connor Ingram: Guarding home goal Thursday
10m agoIngram will defend the home crease versus Nashville on Thursday, Steve Peters reports.
Ingram is tied with Tristan Jarry for the NHL lead in shutouts with six. Ingram is 19-19-3, with a 2.87 GAA and a .908 save percentage. He will face his ex-teammates, as Ingram started his career with the Predators just two years ago.
-
Alex Wennberg NYR C
Rangers' Alexander Wennberg: Available Thursday
14m agoWennberg (personal) is back with the Rangers on Thursday, per Peter Baugh of The Athletic.
Wennberg missed Tuesday's tilt against the Flyers, as his wife gave birth earlier in the week. Should Wennberg reenter the lineup, look for Jonny Brodzinski to be a healthy scratch. Wennberg has a goal and four points in nine games with New York, after his trade from Seattle, where he managed nine goals and 25 points in 60 appearances.
-
Alexandar Georgiev COL G
Avalanche's Alexandar Georgiev: Starting versus Rangers
18m agoGeorgiev is slated to face the Rangers at home on Thursday, per Marc Moser of Altitude Sports.
There was some doubt as Georgiev was not at morning skate, but coach Jared Bednar said that he was good to go. Georgiev is 37-15-3 this season, but his peripherals are just okay, as he has a 2.82 GAA and a .904 save percentage. He will not have an easy time of it Thursday as the Rangers are atop the NHL standings with 100 points in 72 games.
-
Joel Kiviranta COL LW
Avalanche's Joel Kiviranta: Won't play Thursday
20m agoKiviranta (illness) will not be in the lineup against the Rangers on Thursday, Corey Masisak of The Denver Post reports.
Kiviranta will have to wait at least one more game before getting a shot at his 10th point of the season. In fact, with just three more tallies, the 28-year-old winger could top the personal best he set back in 2020-21 (11). Even once cleared to play, Kiviranta is far from a lock for the starting XI and may have to watch from the press box periodically.
