Jonah Williams LAR DE
Vikings' Jonah Williams: Joining Vikings
2h agoWilliams has agreed to sign a contract with the Vikings, Ben Goessling of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Williams visited Minnesota on Monday, and it did not take long for him to come to terms on a contract. The 28-year-old spent his first three seasons with the Rams and accumulated 49 tackles (20 solo) during the 2023 campaign.

Mario Edwards SEA DE
Mario Edwards: Visits Houston
14h agoEdwards (knee) had a visit with the Texans on Monday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Edwards missed the final game of the 2023 season due to a knee injury. His visit in Houston indicates he has put that injury behind him. The journeyman recorded 21 tackles (15 solo), one pass defensed and one forced fumble across 15 games for Seattle last season. He is now looking for a new opportunity.

Chase Young SF DE
Saints' Chase Young: Officially joins New Orleans
15h agoThe Saints and Young agreed to a contract Monday.
According to Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com, Young's new deal will be for one year. The No. 2 overall pick in the 2020 Draft, Young earned Defensive Rookie of the Year honors to kick off his career, but his next two seasons were derailed by injuries, and he split 2023 between the Commanders and 49ers. With 16.5 sacks in 43 games in his first four campaigns, he'll be a part of a New Orleans pass rush that features Cameron Jordan and Carl Granderson.

Joshua Dobbs MIN QB
49ers' Joshua Dobbs: Finds work in San Francisco
15h agoThe 49ers and Dobbs agreed to a contract Monday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
In 13 games (12 starts) between the Cardinals and Vikings this past season, Dobbs completed 262 of 417 (62.8 percent) of his passes for 2,464 yards, 13 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He also was viable as a runner, averaging 5.5 yards on his 77 carries while scoring six TDs on the ground. Brock Purdy is the unquestioned starting quarterback for San Francisco, but Dobbs' recent on-field work should give him a leg up on the backup job ahead of holdover Brandon Allen.

Rico Dowdle DAL RB
Cowboys' Rico Dowdle: Remaining with Dallas
16h agoDowdle is set to re-sign with the Cowboys, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports.
Following the free-agent departure of Tony Pollard, Dowdle is poised to reclaim his role in a Dallas backfield that also currently includes Deuce Vaughn, Malik Davis and Snoop Conner. Chances are, the Cowboys will add further RB depth via free agency or the draft, so until the team's personnel at the position is settled, Dowdle's fantasy upside for the 2024 season will be difficult to gauge.
-
Alexander Mattison MIN RB
Raiders' Alexander Mattison: Set to join Las Vegas backfield
16h agoMattison is in line to sign with the Raiders, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
In 16 games for the Vikings during the 2023 regular season, Mattison had 180 carries for 700 yards and caught 30 of his 44 targets for 192 yards and three receiving TDs. With the Raiders, Mattison -- who turns 26 in June -- is slated to provide the team with needed backfield depth and a complementary option alongside 2022 fourth-rounder Zamir White following the free-agent departure of Josh Jacobs. Assuming White serves as Las Vegas' top RB option, Mattison's weekly upside will be modest, but if White is injured or struggles at all as the 2024 season progresses, Mattison could reenter the fantasy lineup equation.

Erik Swanson TOR RP
Blue Jays' Erik Swanson: Battling forearm tightness
2m agoSwanson will be shut down from throwing for a day or two due to right forearm tightness, Hazel Mae of Sportsnet reports.
An MRI showed no structural damage or even inflammation, so the hope is that Swanson can ramp things back up after a day or two of rest. For now, consider the setup man day-to-day. The back-end of the Blue Jays' bullpen is suddenly in flux, as Jordan Romano (elbow) is also banged up.
-
Jordan Romano TOR RP
Blue Jays' Jordan Romano: Nursing elbow inflammation
5m agoRomano will be shut down from throwing for three days after being diagnosed with right elbow inflammation, Hazel Mae of Sportsnet reports.
Romano will be given an anti-inflammatory injection prior to the brief shutdown period and then hopes to resume throwing later this week. An MRI on the closer's elbow showed no structural issues, so the hope seems to be that this is just a minor issue that will resolve soon. However, there is certainly always a level of concern when it's the pitching elbow. Erik Swanson would be next in line to close for the Blue Jays, although he will be shut down himself for a day or two with a forearm issue. Yimi Garcia and/or Chad Green could be next in the pecking order.
-
Manuel Rodriguez TB RP
Rays' Manuel Rodriguez: Optioned to Triple-A
11m agoThe Rays optioned Rodriguez to Triple-A Durham on Tuesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Rodriguez was competing for a spot in the bullpen but will head to Durham for now. He should still wind up spending a good amount of time with the big club this season.
-
Chris Murphy BOS RP
Red Sox's Chris Murphy: Diagnosed with ligament damage
14m agoMurphy has been diagnosed with ligament damage in his left elbow, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.
A decision on whether Murphy will undergo surgery will be made in the coming days. He had been competing for one of the left-handed spots in Boston's bullpen but now will be sidelined for a significant period of time, whether surgery is ultimately required or not.
-
Kenley Jansen BOS RP
Red Sox's Kenley Jansen: Scratched again
17m agoJansen has been scratched from a scheduled appearance again Tuesday due to ongoing back tightness, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.
It's the second day in a row that Jansen wasn't able to pitch as scheduled because of a nagging lower-back issue. The hope is that he will be able to make an appearance Wednesday. Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Tuesday of Jansen's Opening Day availability that "we still have time, but we're running out of time." Chris Martin (groin) would be next in line to close if Jansen isn't ready, although he's banged up himself.
-
Brayan Bello BOS SP
Red Sox's Brayan Bello: Named Opening Day starter
24m agoBello has been named the Red Sox' Opening Day starter.
He was the pick over Nick Pivetta, who will start the second game of the season. It's been an eventful month for Bello, who agreed to a six-year, $55 million contract extension earlier this month and who now garners the first Opening Day start of his career. The 24-year-old will take on the Mariners in Seattle on March 28.

Bulls' Nikola Vucevic: Drops 22 on Blazers
31m agoVucevic notched 22 points (10-17 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 0-2 FT), nine rebounds, one block and two steals over 35 minutes during Monday's 110-107 win over the Trail Blazers.
The veteran center just missed recording his 40th double-double of the season, which would have marked his third straight campaign reaching that plateau, and the seventh time in his career. Vucevic has been a force in the Chicago frontcourt since the All-Star break, averaging 20.9 points, 10.9 boards, 2.7 assists and 1.4 threes over the last 14 games while shooting 50.6 percent from the floor.
-

33m agoDosunmu finished with 23 points (9-17 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 3-3 FT), one rebound, 10 assists and one steal over 39 minutes during Monday's 110-107 victory over the Trail Blazers.
It was his highest assist total in over two years, as Dosunmu's last double-double came against the Timberwolves on Feb. 11, 2022. The third-year guard has seen a huge workload of late, playing at least 35 minutes in four straight games and 13 of 14 since the All-Star break, and he's responded by averaging 16.2 points, 6.3 assists, 3.9 boards, 2.0 threes and 1.1 steals over that latter stretch.
-

The 34-year-old forward topped 20 points for the 10th time in 14 contests since the All-Star break. Over that stretch, DeRozan is averaging 25.4 points, 5.4 assists, 5.3 boards and 1.1 threes as the Bulls try to climb out of the Play-In Tournament zone and lock up a playoff spot.
-
Walker Kessler UTA C
Jazz's Walker Kessler: Top rebounder off bench in loss
37m agoKessler closed Monday's 114-104 loss to Minnesota with six points (2-3 FG, 2-2 FT), 14 rebounds, two assists and one block in 28 minutes.
Kessler returned to the bench in Monday's defeat, leading all players in rebounds while adding a half-dozen points to provide a spark off the bench. Kessler has hauled in 14 or more boards in three games this season, surpassing the double-digit mark in three of his last five outings.
-
Collin Sexton UTA SG
Jazz's Collin Sexton: Top scorer off bench in defeat
38m agoSexton ended Monday's 114-104 loss to the Timberwolves with 24 points (9-17 FG, 5-8 3Pt, 1-1 FT), one rebound and two assists in 37 minutes.
Sexton led all players in Monday's contest in threes made while leading Utah in scoring and posting a team-high minute total to boost the team offensively in a losing effort. Sexton has tallied 25 or more points in 13 games this season, his first such performance while coming off the bench. He matched a season high in threes made, also doing so March 6 against Chicago.
-
Scoot Henderson POR PG
Trail Blazers' Scoot Henderson: Solid numbers against Bulls
39m agoHenderson recorded 14 points (4-17 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 5-6 FT), six rebounds, five assists and one steal over 30 minutes during Monday's 110-107 loss to Chicago.
The rookie guard is beginning to show a little consistency. Over six games (three starts) since returning from an adductor strain, Henderson has scored in double digits five times, averaging 10.8 points, 4.8 assists, 3.8 boards and 1.0 steals in 26.0 minutes a contest, although his 34.3 percent shooting from the floor and 18.2 percent shooting from beyond the arc still need a lot of work.

Simon Edvinsson DET D
Red Wings' Simon Edvinsson: Called up Tuesday
24m agoEdvinsson was elevated from AHL Grand Rapids on Tuesday.
Edvinsson's promotion could be an indication that there is an injury on the blue line ahead of Tuesday's clash with Columbus. While the 20-year-old blueliner has appeared in just two NHL games this season, he has been thriving in the minors with eight goals and 21 assists in 52 games for the Griffins.
-
Brayden Pachal CGY D
Flames' Brayden Pachal: Adds helper in loss
8h agoPachal posted an assist, two blocked shots and four PIM in Monday's 5-2 loss to the Capitals.
Pachal set up a Kevin Rooney tally in the second period. While Pachal has been limited to third-pairing minutes, he's been in the lineup regularly over the likes of Dennis Gilbert and Nikita Okhotyuk over the last couple of weeks. Pachal has four points, 36 shots on net, 102 hits, 49 blocked shots, 43 PIM and a plus-2 rating through 36 appearances between the Flames and the Golden Knights this season.
-
Matthew Coronato CGY RW
Flames' Matthew Coronato: Supplies assist in loss
8h agoCoronato notched an assist in Monday's 5-2 loss to the Capitals.
Coronato helped out on Kevin Rooney's tally in the second period. With three points over his last seven contests, Coronato has done well despite seeing limited ice time in a bottom-six role. The rookie winger is at six points, 43 shots on net and a minus-10 rating over 22 appearances this season.
-
Mikael Backlund CGY C
Flames' Mikael Backlund: Generates assist in loss
8h agoBacklund logged an assist and two shots on goal in Monday's 5-2 loss to the Capitals.
Backlund is up to eight points over nine games in March. He set up a MacKenzie Weegar tally in the third period of Monday's defeat. Backlund is up to 38 points, 187 shots on net, 63 hits and a plus-6 rating through 68 outings this season. He's essentially functioned as a top-six option all year, though he was often listed on the third line before the Flames' roster was thinned out by trades.
-
Kevin Rooney CGY C
Flames' Kevin Rooney: Deposits goal in loss
8h agoRooney scored a goal on two shots and added two hits in Monday's 5-2 loss to the Capitals.
Rooney snapped a 16-game point drought with his second-period tally. The 30-year-old has had limited chances to produce offense while playing on the Flames' fourth line. He's posted two goals, 15 shots on net, 37 hits, 18 blocked shots and a minus-5 rating over 19 appearances, numbers not good enough to justify a roster spot in nearly all fantasy formats.
-
MacKenzie Weegar CGY D
Flames' MacKenzie Weegar: Finds twine Monday
8h agoWeegar scored a goal on six shots, blocked five shots, logged two hits and added two PIM in Monday's 5-2 loss to the Capitals.
Weegar pulled a goal back for the Flames in the third period, but a comeback push never materialized. The 30-year-old defenseman hadn't scored a goal since his Feb. 10 hat trick versus the Islanders, but he had a solid seven helpers over 15 games between goals. He's up to 16 tallies, 40 points, 173 shots on net, 166 blocked shots, 161 hits, 45 PIM and a plus-4 rating over 68 appearances. Weegar's still got a good shot to top his career high of 44 points from 2021-22.
