Dr. Roto Fantasy Two-A-Days (MIA & MIN)

In this Two-A-Day, Dr. Roto covers the Miami Dolphins & Minnesota Vikings. He is tackling two teams per day with a rundown of their situation which includes an analysis of each team's coaching staff, a fantasy stud, sleepers and a bust. Time to put the pads on boys! We're hitting today so be ready for contact!

Miami Dolphins

Playoff Schedule

(Week 14: vs. Baltimore, Week 15: at New England, Week 16: vs. Minnesota)

Miami/New England games are usually high scoring and playing Minnesota in Week 16 is nothing scary.

Coaching Staff

I would be shocked if head coach Joe Philbin does not get fired come the end of the season. Some coaches are better off as coordinators and I think Philbin falls into that category. The Fins brought in Bill Lazor from Philadelphia to be their new OC in the hopes that he can inject some life into this moribund offense. It should be an improved team, but there are serious questions on both sides of the ball.

Fantasy Stud

Mike Wallace is the closest thing to a Fantasy stud that the Dolphins have. The biggest problem is that QB Ryan Tannehill has not been able to connect with Wallace on deep passes. Unless these two learn some chemistry quickly, there may not be a Fantasy stud on this team in 2014 either.

Miami Dolphins WR Mike Wallace

Under the Radar Guy

He's not particularly fast, nor is he a huge target, but WR Brian Hartline does have one thing: great chemistry with his quarterback. Look for him to catch another 70-75 passes for 1000 yards this season.

Roto Visionary Sleeper

The slight buzz you hear coming out of Miami is not just the music from South Beach. It is the buzz of RB Lamar Miller who might just be on the cusp of having a breakout season. The Dolphins will feature Miller and give him every chance to be successful. While I am not ready to anoint him Most Improved Player of the Year, I think he has a real shot to be a terrific RB3 for Fantasy owners.

Potential Bust

Yes, Charles Clay had a breakout year last season, but I think that Fantasy owners should not put too much stock into that success. Tannehill used Clay as an outlet more than was anticipated primarily because he was not able to connect with his receivers down the field. Clay will be more like a solid TE1 than a rising star this season.

Minnesota Vikings

Playoff Schedule

(Week 14: vs. New York Jets, Week 15: at Detroit, Week 16: at Miami)

Surprisingly I think this is a tough schedule for AP. The Jets and Lions have tough runs defenses and until the Vikings find a solid QB, Peterson will see eight men in the box on first and second down.

Coaching Staff

I am very excited about the Vikings new coaching staff. New HC Mike Zimmer will solidify the defense and new OC Norv Turner has had great success running NFL offenses over the years.

Fantasy Stud

If you don’t know that RB Adrian Peterson is a Fantasy stud by now, then you might want to try Fantasy Golf. “All Day” could easily go for 1500 yards rushing and 15-16 TDs this season.

Minnesota Vikings WR Cordarrelle Patterson

Under the Radar

While every Fantasy owner is showing his or her love to Cordarrelle Patterson, there is a WR on the other side of the field who is pretty good too. Greg Jennings came over to the Vikings from the Packers last season and struggled. The blame should not fall on him as much as it falls on the ineptitude of the Vikings QB to throw the ball downfield. Look for Jennings to be available as your WR5 in your league and draft him late if you can.

Roto Visionary Sleeper

Norv Turner has had great success with Tight Ends in the past. Jay Novacek and Antonio Gates are just two of the players that Turner has worked with who have thrived under his tutelage. In 2014 Fantasy owners might end up adding Kyle Rudolph to that growing list of success stories. Rudolph is a huge target and has a “nose” for the end zone. Look for him to catch about 60 passes this year and get eight TDs.

Potential Bust

I am going to give you a tip that I use when I go to Vegas: If something looks too good, I usually go against the grain. With that in mind, I have not come across any Fantasy owner who does not think that WR Cordarrelle Patterson is going to be a stud this year. He is being drafted in the third round in many high stakes leagues and people are buying into him having this huge breakthrough year. At this point, he will HAVE to have 80 catches for 1200 yards and eight TDs to earn his value. With Matt Cassel and/or Teddy Bridgewater as his QB, that might be impossible.
