Dolphins waive RB Daniel Thomas

Breaking Fantasy News

The running back who many fantasy owners thought was holding the Dolphins' ground game back is no longer a Dolphin. Daniel Thomas was released on Saturday. A second-round pick from the 2011 draft, Thomas was dogged by injures and ineffective play in his three seasons. He never gained more than 600 yards or averaged 4 yards per carry in any season. He was living on borrowed time in Miami when the team signed Knowshon Moreno in the offseason. Thomas couldn't do a lot during the preseason to prove he deserved a roster spot as he was bothered by a hamstring injury for most of the month.

Fantasy Analysis

Miller and Moreno are expected to share the load out of the Dolphins' backfield. After missing spring practices and most of the preseason to recover from offseason knee surgery, Moreno is being drafted right next to Miller among running backs (33rd and 32nd, respectively). Miller has more raw talent and upside, but this could turn into a very even split. While Miller should get more touches, the Dolphins' coaching staff deserves no benefit of the doubt after mishandling their offensive weapons last season.
