Daily Dr. Roto - Wednesday, September 3

Dr. Roto has a pocket full of studs and duds at every position for your Week 1 needs. This guide should help you make some 50-50 coin flip decisions where you need that final push in either direction.

Studs & Duds

Peyton Manning vs. Colts — No Welker? No problem. Peyton will find  Emmanuel Sanders, Julius Thomas, and Demaryius Thomas all over the field and torch the Colts mediocre secondary.

Matthew Stafford vs. Giants – The Giants have looked awful thus far and normally do not play well in games on the road in domes. There are a lot of new pieces on defense for the Giants, but none of them can cover Megatron, Bush, or J. Bell. Also look for Stafford to find his new target, Golden Tate, open most of the game.

Tom Brady vs. Dolphins — Brady has his arsenal of weapons back with Gronk, Vereen, Edelman, and Amendola. This a divisional game right off the bat for the Patriots and Belichick wants to set the tone.

LeSean McCoy vs. Jaguars — There is no preparation the Jaguars can do to get them ready for this game. Chip Kelly’s high flying offense will start off with a bang. McCoy should get 100 yards and a TD.

Arian Foster vs. Redskins—I don’t like Foster this year, but I can’t imagine how this game is not a big one for him. Bill O’Brien wants to establish the run and the Redskins will have trouble stopping it. Put Foster down for 100 yards and 20-25 caries.

Chris Johnson vs. Raiders — Johnson should have a huge day against Oakland. Backup Chris Ivory is not 100% healthy and the Jets want to ground and pound. The Raiders have to travel across the country and are starting a rookie QB. It could get ugly.

Demaryius Thomas vs. Colts — There is no one on the Colts who can cover him. He may not go off this week, but he’ll easily get 100 yards and a TD.

Alshon Jeffrey vs. Bills — Jeffrey is a virtual mismatch every week. No second CB can match his height and speed. The Bears should score in bunches in Week 1, and it is hard to imagine Jeffrey not finding the end zone.

Victor Cruz vs. Lions — I can see this game being a blowout and Cruz getting some second half garbage passes thrown his way. Think eight catches for 90 yards.

Jimmy Graham vs. Falcons — Have you seen Hard Knocks? Which Falcons player can cover Graham? It might take three guys to do the job.

Vernon Davis vs. Cowboys—I really do not like Davis, but this might be the best matchup he sees all season. No LB on the Cowboys can stop him. Look for two to three seam passes right down the middle of the field.

Philip Rivers vs. Cardinals — Last year everything seemed to go right for Rivers; I am not buying it this year. The Cardinals are very stingy at home and Patrick Peterson will shut down WR Keenan Allen.

Eli Manning vs. Lions — The Giants have looked awful this preseason and have to go into Detroit and their fearsome pass rush. It could be ugly for Eli.

Bernard Pierce vs. Bengals — This is Pierce’s big shot with Rice being suspended, but the Bengals will be ready for him. Pierce is not fast enough to get outside the Bengals speedy linebackers. Flacco may have to pass way more than he wants in this game.

Ryan Mathews vs. Cardinals — The Cardinals did a great job stopping the run last season. The loss of Dockett hurts, but the team will still be swarming to the ball and the Chargers do not have enough of a passing game to stop them.

Mike Wallace vs. Patriots — Should see plenty of CB Revis and his QB, Ryan Tannehill, prefers throwing to Brian Hartline anyway.

Miami Dolphins WR Mike Wallace

Keenan Allen vs. Cardinals — When deciding which WRs to sit, always look at the the opposing team’s top CB. The Cardinals Patrick Peterson will get the call against Allen. Peterson is a top three CB right now in the NFL and might be number one by season’s end.

Kyle Rudolph vs. Rams — Call this a hunch but the Rams were the stingiest team against TEs in 2013. The Vikings have improved their offense, but the Rams defense is one of the tops in the league. Stay away from Rudolph this week.

Delanie Walker vs. Chiefs — Titans QB Jake Locker is very inaccurate and the Chiefs play much better at home. Add the fact that S Eric Berry lies waiting in coverage and I think Walker struggles big time this week.
