Kerby Joseph DET DBLions' Kerby Joseph: Should be 100 percent for camp
35m agoJoseph (hip) -- who won't take part in practices this spring -- expects to be fully healthy by the start of training camp, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Joseph underwent an offseason procedure to address a hip injury that originally occurred in Week 2 of the 2023 campaign. Though he returned to play after missing two contests, en route to logging 82 tackles and four picks in 15 regular-season outings overall, the issue evidently lingered to the point that it required attention following the postseason. Once he's back to 100 percent, Joseph will reprise his starting free safety role with the Lions.

2h agoChark visited the Chargers on Thursday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Few teams are more in need of wide receivers, with the Chargers having released Mike Williams and traded Keenan Allen earlier this offseason. Chark has never come close to matching his 1,008-yard, eight-TD performance in 2019 for Jacksonville, but he did top 500 yards both of the past two seasons in Detroit and Carolina, starting 21 of 26 games along the way. Chark will turn 28 in September and doesn't figure to command a large contract.

Courtland Sutton DEN WRBroncos' Courtland Sutton: No concern about OTA absence
2h agoBroncos GM George Paton suggested Thursday that he isn't worried about Sutton's absence from voluntary offseason workouts, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports. "It's 100 percent voluntary," Paton said. "It's the first week of the offseason program. I've talked to Courtland. He's in a good place, and I'll just leave it at that."
Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reported Tuesday that Sutton's absence from voluntary OTAs is related to wanting a new contract. The wideout has two years and approximately $27.6 million remaining on his current deal, with only $2 million of that guaranteed. It's not the type of situation with especially high risk for a holdout, and Sutton looks to be especially important for Denver's offense after the team traded WR Jerry Jeudy to Cleveland in the offseason. It's not yet clear who will start across from Sutton at wide receiver, nor is it clear who will get the nod under center Week 1. The Broncos still have a lot to work out this spring and summer, with the upcoming NFL Draft presumably being a piece of that puzzle.

Lions' Kerby Joseph: Out until training camp

The report notes that Joseph is bouncing back from an offseason procedure to address a hip injury that he sustained in Week 2 of the 2023 season. Assuming he returns to health in time to begin the coming campaign, Joseph figures to serve as Detroit's starting free safety and is likely to rack up tackles and pass breakups in that role.

Coy Cronk MIN OLCoy Cronk: Let go by Minnesota
18h agoThe Vikings waived Cronk (undisclosed) with a non-football injury designation on Thursday.
The 26-year-old offensive lineman went undrafted out of Iowa in 2021, and his most recent in-game action came back in 2022 with the Jaguars. It's unclear what Cronk's injury is, but he'll remain a free agent while he recovers from his unspecified issue.

Kenyon Green HOU OTTexans' Kenyon Green: Competing for starting role
18h agoTexans' GM Nick Caserio told reporters Thursday that Green (shoulder) must earn his starting spot as the offseason progresses, Cole Thompson of USA Today reports.
Green sustained a shoulder injury during the Texans' preseason finale that forced him to miss the entire 2023 season, but his rehab process has been going well and he could partake in voluntary offseason workouts this week. Once he's able to return to the field, the 2022 first-round pick is expected to compete with Kendrick Green for Houston's top left guard position.

Roddery Munoz MIA SPMarlins' Roddery Munoz: Set for MLB debut Saturday
18m agoMunoz will be recalled from Triple-A Jacksonville by the Marlins to start one of the games in Saturday's doubleheader versus the Cubs, Isaac Azout of SBNation.com reports.
It will be the major-league debut for Munoz, who was acquired via trade from the Pirates over the offseason. The 24-year-old has had a rough start to the season with Jacksonville, allowing 14 runs (13 earned) with a 7:12 K:BB over 10.2 frames. Munoz is not an advisable fantasy streamer.

1h agoRefsnyder entered Thursday's game as a pinch hitter and went 0-for-1 in a 5-4 loss to Cleveland.
Refsnyder pinch hit for second baseman Enmanuel Valdez and stayed in the game to play left field. It was the season debut for Refsnyder, who opened the year on the 10-day injured list due to a toe injury. He was activated to take the roster spot of Tyler O'Neill, who landed on the 7-day concussion list. Refsnyder will likely be in the starting nine whenever the Red Sox face a left-hander.

2h agoReyes started at third base and went 0-for-4 in Thursday's 5-4 loss to Cleveland.
Reyes filled in for the injured Rafael Devers (knee) and committed a costly error that allowed one of three unearned runs to score. Reyes also couldn't get a ball out of his glove quick enough to start a 5-4-3 double, which scored another run. Per Ian Browne of MLB.com, the Red Sox are hoping to avoid having to put Devers on the injured list, which suggests a fill-in need for more than just Thursday's contest. Reyes and Bobby Dalbec are the primary candidates to play third base should Devers need an stint on the IL.

2h agoYastrzemski went 1-for-4 with two runs batted in during Thursday's 5-0 win over the Diamondbacks.
Yastrzemski stepped into the batter's box in the eighth inning with the bases loaded and delivered a two-RBI single off Kyle Nelson. It was just his second game of 2024 with an RBI as the outfielder has crawled to a .135/.238/.135 slash line through 14 games. He seems to be turning the corner on his sluggish start, going 4-for-17 (.235) over his last six appearances.

9m agoCaruso (ankle), who is questionable for Friday's Play-In Game against the Heat, said that he expects to play in the matchup, Jamal Collier of ESPN.com reports.
Caruso was initially believed to have a significant left ankle sprain, but he experienced reduced swelling Thursday. It appears increasingly likely that the 30-year-old will be available for Friday's win-or-go-home matchup, but the Bulls will likely continue to monitor him in the hours leading up to tipoff.

16h agoMatthews (hamstring) tallied zero points (0-2 FG, 0-2 3Pt) and one assist in 10 minutes Wednesday in the Hawks' 131-116 loss to the Bulls in the Eastern Conference Play-In Tournament.
Matthews missed the Hawks' final three games of the regular season with hamstring tightness, but he was able to make it back for what ended up being the team's lone postseason contest. The 37-year-old was an irregular member of the Atlanta rotation in 2023-24, appearing in 36 regular-season contests (three starts) while averaging 3.1 points, 1.5 rebounds, 0.7 three-pointers and 0.6 assists in 11.5 minutes while shooting 35.1 percent from the field. Matthews is scheduled for free agency this summer and could be headed for retirement.

18h agoLeonard (knee) is questionable for Sunday's Game 1 against the Mavericks, Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN.com reports.
The Clippers announced Thursday that Leonard received an injection in his left knee, and there's "cautious optimism" that he'll be ready for Sunday's matchup, per Shams Charania of The Athletic. While Leonard returned to practice Monday, he hasn't yet been cleared for 5-on-5 drills. Clippers president of basketball operations Lawrence Frank said Thursday that he isn't sure whether Leonard will need to participate in full-contact work before he's cleared to return to game action but added that the inflammation needs to continue to reduce. Lawrence said that he's hopeful the issue is trending in the right direction and that Leonard will play but also indicated that the 32-year-old's status remains up in the air.

Bulls' Alex Caruso: Likely to be game-time decision
19h agoCaruso (ankle), who is questionable for Friday's Play-In Game against the Heat, underwent further evaluation Thursday that revealed reduced swelling, creating increased optimism that he'll be available for the win-or-go-home matchup against Miami, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
Wojnarowski reported Wednesday night that Caruso had sustained a "significant" left ankle sprain against Atlanta, which put his availability for Friday's matchup in doubt. However, the 30-year-old appears to be trending in the right direction and will likely be a game-time decision as the Bulls attempt to secure the No. 8 seed in the playoffs. If Caruso is unavailable against Miami, Javonte Green, Torrey Craig and Dalen Terry could see additional playing time.

Robinson missed the final four games of the regular season due to his back injury, and although he was available for Wednesday's Play-In Tournament matchup against the 76ers, he didn't see any playing time. It appears likely that he'll be able to suit up again Friday, and he could see some minutes since Jimmy Butler (knee) has been ruled out.

Rozier, who will miss a sixth straight contest, has been diagnosed with a neck sprain rather than neck spasms, so it seems the injury is more severe than initially expected. The loss of Rozier has been tough for the Heat, and it's translated into a higher usage rate for Tyler Herro and more minutes for Delon Wright.

Hedman had another terrific season, scoring 13 goals and adding 63 assists. The Lightning's top blueliner had one assist in each of the three games versus Florida -- their first-round playoff opponent -- this season.

Cirelli was given the night off Wednesday, as the Lightning had already clinched their spot in the postseason. Cirelli hit the 20-goal mark for the first time in his career this season. He ended the season with 25 assists and 45 points in 79 appearances. Cirelli is expected to center the second line, between Steven Stamkos and Brandon Hagel, when the Lightning face the Panthers on Sunday in Game 1.

Josh Norris OTT CSenators' Josh Norris: Will be ready for training camp
32m agoGeneral manager Steve Staios said Friday that Norris (shoulder) will be ready for the start of training camp in September, Claire Hanna of TSN reports.
Norris underwent his third shoulder operation in his career in March and he is well on his way to recovery. The talented center had 16 goals and 30 points in 50 games this season, but he struggled at times, due to his lingering shoulder woes. Norris has missed 106 games over the last two seasons, really dampening his fantasy value heading into the 2024-25 campaign.

Lee missed the final game of the regular season Wednesday versus the Penguins. Lee ended the season with 20 goals, 17 assists, 185 shots on goal and 176 hits in 81 appearances. Look for Lee to see middle-six action versus the Hurricanes, as well as playing on the second power-play unit.

Hudson Fasching NYI RWIslanders' Hudson Fasching: Ready to play Saturday

Fasching did not play in the Islanders' finale Wednesday, as he was a healthy scratch. He practiced on the second line Friday, alongside Brock Nelson and Kyle Palmieri. Fasching had three assists in his last two games, giving the 28-year-old winger, four goals and 14 points in 45 games this season.
