Aidan Hutchinson DET DE
Lions' Aidan Hutchinson: Doing well at practice
20h agoLions defensive line coach Kacy Rodgers said Thursday that Hutchinson (leg) has looked "really good" at voluntary offseason workouts, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Hutchinson suffered a fractured tibia and fibula roughly seven months ago, and he was initially provided a four- to six-month recovery timetable. The star pass rusher's rehab appears to have been on the quicker side, given that Detroit had expressed optimism about him returning down the stretch last season, had the team advanced all the way to the Super Bowl. Hutchinson has already resumed running at full speed and participating in individual drills, and while Rodgers noted that his workload will continue to be managed into training camp, he remains on track for Week 1. The Lions picked up Hutchinson's fifth-year option late April.

D.J. Humphries KC OT
D.J. Humphries: Yet to sign reported deal with SF
2d agoHumphries and the 49ers have not yet agreed upon a contract despite a late-April report that the veteran offensive lineman had signed with the team, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
It was Humphries' representation that initially announced that the sides had agreed to a contract, but per Maiocco, that deal was never finalized. Maiocco also reports that "nothing appears imminent" between Humphries and San Francisco, making the 2015 first-round draft pick very much still a free agent. Since the reported deal, San Francisco has agreed to contracts with veteran offensive linemen Andre Dillard and Nicholas Petit-Frere, so it's unclear whether the organization has maintained interest in signing Humphries.

John Jenkins LV DT
Ravens' John Jenkins: Lands in Baltimore
2d agoThe Ravens signed Jenkins to a one-year contract Friday.
Jenkins is a veteran of 13 NFL campaigns who played the previous two years with Las Vegas. He logged a career-high 581 defensive snaps while starting all 17 regular-season games with the Raiders last year, totaling 46 tackles, including 1.0 sacks, and two defensed passes. Baltimore is set up front with Nnamdi Madubuike, Travis Jones and Broderick Washington, so Jenkins will likely work in a rotational role with his new squad.

Greg Zuerlein NYJ K
Greg Zuerlein: Cut following failed physical
2d agoThe Jets released Zuerlein (knee) with a failed physical designation Friday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Zuerlein landed on injured reserve after Week 8 last season due to a left knee injury but was activated from the list prior to a Week 17 matchup with the Bills. He didn't attempt a kick in that game and then was placed on IR afterward, ending his campaign having made nine of 15 field-goal attempts and 13 of 14 point-after tries. The Jets announced the current move earlier Friday, but the reason for his release wasn't known until the NFL posted its transaction log for the day. New York will move forward with Anders Carlson and undrafted rookie Caden Davis this offseason, while the 37-year-old Zuerlein presumably will need to prove his health in order to earn another opportunity.
-
Greg Joseph NYJ K
49ers' Greg Joseph: Headed to 49ers
2d agoThe 49ers are slated to sign Joseph, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.
In a combined eight regular-season appearances in 2024 (split between the Giants, Commanders and Jets), Joseph made 16 of 20 field-goal attempts, along with all 11 of his PAT tries. With the 49ers, Joseph will have an opportunity to compete with 2023 third-rounder Jake Moody, who has been San Francisco's kicker for the last two campaigns.

Brock Purdy SF QB
49ers' Brock Purdy: Gets massive five-year extension
2d agoPurdy and the 49ers agreed to terms Friday on a five-year, $265 million contract extension, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Purdy's new deal has been the largest domino waiting to fall of San Francisco's offseason, and the 2022 seventh-round pick now gains long-term commitment from the team via a contract that runs through 2030, and which includes $181 million in total guarantees. The 25-year-old is coming off a down season, having dipped essentially across the board in most passing metrics while throwing just 20 touchdowns, as opposed to the 31 passing scores he logged in 2023. San Francisco's offense as a whole tumbled in 2024, though, an outcome that can in no small part be blamed on injuries to Brandon Aiyuk (ACL) and Christian McCaffrey (knee). The 49ers also inked George Kittle to a four-year extension this offseason, a particularly notable signing given that the standout tight end may operate as Purdy's top pass catcher to kick off the 2025 season, considering Deebo Samuel has been traded to Washington and Aiyuk is still in the process of recovering. Still, with McCaffrey back in action, plus Jauan Jennings, Ricky Pearsall and Demarcus Robinson available to lead the wide-receiver room until Aiyuk is 100 percent, Purdy will have no shortage of offensive weapons at his disposal as he works to make the first year under his new deal a comeback season.

George Springer TOR RF
Blue Jays' George Springer: Not in Sunday's lineup
3m agoSpringer is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers.
Springer started the previous 14 games, and he'll receive Sunday off after posting a .196/.328/.431 slash line with three doubles and three homers during that stretch. Jonatan Clase and Nathan Lukes will start in the corner outfield spot while Anthony Santander (hip) returns to the lineup as the designated hitter.
-
Anthony Santander TOR DH
Blue Jays' Anthony Santander: Good to go Sunday
11m agoSantander (hip) is batting fifth as the designated hitter Sunday against the Tigers.
The 30-year-old sat out the previous two games due to hip soreness but is ready to go for Sunday's series finale versus Detroit. Santander was unavailable last weekend in Seattle due to a shoulder issue and played in just three games before tweaking his hip. He's mostly struggled at the plate in his first 40 games with the Blue Jays and has a .187/.270/.316 slash line with five homers, 16 RBI and 12 runs.
-
Sean Murphy ATL C
Braves' Sean Murphy: Out of lineup again Sunday
12m agoMurphy is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's game against Boston.
Murphy is sitting for a second straight game while the red-hot Drake Baldwin gets another start at catcher. Prior to Sunday, the pair had alternated starts behind the plate for each of Atlanta's previous eight contests. Baldwin has made it difficult for manager Brian Snitker to take his bat out of the lineup -- through 11 games in May, the rookie catcher is batting .556 (15-for-27) with three homers and eight RBI.
-
Kevin Pillar TEX CF
Rangers' Kevin Pillar: Returns from injured list
17m agoPillar (back) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list and is starting in right field and batting eighth Sunday against the Astros.
The veteran outfielder has been sidelined for the past couple weeks due to back inflammation, but he's ready to rejoin the Rangers after going 1-for-10 during a three-game rehab assignment. Pillar won't be an everyday fixture in the lineup, but he has a decent path to playing time with Evan Carter (quadriceps) landing on the injured list Sunday.
-
Evan Carter TEX CF
Rangers' Evan Carter: Out with Grade 2 strain
21m agoThe Rangers placed Carter on the 10-day injured list Sunday, retroactive to May 17, due to a right quadriceps strain.
The 22-year-old was scratched from Saturday's starting nine due to the injury and finds himself on the injured list a day later. According to Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News, manager Bruce Bochy said Sunday that Carter is dealing with a Grade 2 strain and is expected to be sidelined for at least the next couple weeks.

Camilo Doval SF RP
Giants' Camilo Doval: Picks up win Saturday
23m agoDoval (3-1) earned the win in Saturday's 1-0 extra-inning victory over the Athletics, allowing one walk while striking out two across one scoreless inning.
Doval entered the game in the 10th inning, throwing eight of his 14 pitches for strikes and setting up the Giants' offense with a chance to secure the win. The 27-year-old hasn't surrendered a run in his last 17 appearances since April 7, yielding just three hits over 16.1 innings during that span. Doval owns a 1.25 ERA, 0.74 WHIP and a 19:8 K:BB with six holds, five saves and two blown saves across 21.2 innings in 23 appearances.

Aaron Gordon DEN PF
Nuggets' Aaron Gordon: Dealing with Grade 2 strain
2h agoGordon, who is listed as questionable for Sunday's Game 7 of the Western Conference Semifinals against the Thunder, has been diagnosed with a Grade 2 left hamstring strain, and it now appears "physically improbable" that he suits up, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.
Gordon sustained the hamstring injury in the final minutes of Thursday's Game 6 win. Charania reported that the 29-year-old forward is exploring ways to play in Sunday's win-or-go-home matchup, though realistically, he would need several weeks to recover from the injury. If Gordon is unable to suit up, Peyton Watson, Julian Strawther and Russell Westbrook (hand) are candidates for an uptick in playing time.

Mikal Bridges NY SG
Knicks' Mikal Bridges: Tables 22 points Friday
15h agoBridges recorded 22 points (9-15 FG, 4-6 3Pt), four rebounds, three assists, two blocks and one steal over 30 minutes during Friday's 119-81 win over the Celtics in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Bridges chipped in across the board, continuing what has been a strong postseason showing. Although his scoring has been a little up and down, his ability to dominate on the defensive end of the floor has been invaluable. Across 12 playoff appearances, Bridges is averaging 15.4 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.8 three-pointers and 3.0 combined steals and blocks.
-
Karl-Anthony Towns NY C
Knicks' Karl-Anthony Towns: Goes for 21 and 12 in Game 6 win
15h agoTowns finished Friday's 119-81 victory over the Celtics in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals with 21 points (8-20 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 4-4 FT), 12 rebounds, one assist and one steal in 35 minutes.
Towns dominated the undermanned Celtics, racking up his seventh double-double in the past eight games. Although his scoring average has come down during the playoffs, his importance to this team is non-negotiable. After averaging 23.8 points per game during the regular season, that number has dropped to 19.8 across 12 postseason games. The Knicks will now face the Pacers in what promises to be a spicy matchup, with both teams looking to advance to the big dance.
-
Al Horford BOS C
Celtics' Al Horford: Empty performance Friday
16h agoHorford posted 10 points (4-7 FG, 2-4 3Pt) and two rebounds in 27 minutes during Friday's 119-81 loss to the Knicks in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Horford didn't have a tangible impact, going down with the ship as Boston was bundled out of the playoffs. Tasked with playing a bigger role than expected during the postseason due to the fact that Kristaps Porzingis was dealing with an ongoing illness, Horford had some moments but was largely a wash, at best. He played 60 games during the regular season, averaging 9.0 points, 6.2 rebounds and 0.9 blocks in 27.6 minutes per game.
-
Derrick White BOS SG
Celtics' Derrick White: Quiet in Game 6 loss
16h agoWhite accumulated eight points (3-11 FG, 2-8 3Pt), one rebound, two assists and one steal over 30 minutes during Friday's 119-81 loss to New York in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
White saved his worst for last, joining his teammates by putting up arguably the Celtics' most disappointing performance of the season. Despite the rough ending, it was another strong season for White, who demonstrated his elite two-way skills while averaging 16.4 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4.8 assists, 0.9 steals, 1.1 blocks and 3.5 three-pointers. With Jayson Tatum set to miss a sizeable chunk of the 2025-26 season due to an Achilles injury, White's importance to this team can't be overstated.
-
Hunter Tyson DEN SF
Nuggets' Hunter Tyson: Questionable for series finale
17h agoTyson (ankle) is questionable for Sunday's Game 7 of the Western Conference Semifinals against the Thunder.
Tyson has missed the last three games of the series due to a right ankle sprain. Even if he's upgraded to available, he isn't expected to play a significant role in the rotation. Tyson has averaged a mere 5.3 minutes per game across four postseason appearances.
-
Joseph Woll TOR G
Maple Leafs' Joseph Woll: Between pipes for Game 7
2m agoWoll will patrol the home crease in Game 7 against Florida on Sunday, per Luke Fox of Sportsnet.
Woll is coming off a 22-save performance in Friday's 2-0 shutout win over the Panthers in Game 6. He has a 3-3 record with a 3.28 GAA and an .893 save percentage across six appearances this postseason. However, Woll has been stellar in elimination games during his NHL playoff career, going 4-1 with a 1.13 GAA, a .958 save percentage and one shutout.
-
Anthony Stolarz TOR G
Maple Leafs' Anthony Stolarz: Remains unavailable
9m agoStolarz (upper body) won't be an option for Game 7's home matchup versus Florida on Sunday, Jonas Siegel of The Athletic reports.
Stolarz has been skating but still hasn't resumed practicing yet. He will miss his sixth straight game and still doesn't have an exact timeline for his return to the lineup. Joseph Woll will start in Game 7 versus the Panthers on Sunday, while Matt Murray will be the backup.
-
Matthew Knies TOR LW
Maple Leafs' Matthew Knies: Ready to rock
1h agoKnies (undisclosed) will play in Game 7 against Florida on Sunday, per Kristen Shilton of ESPN.
Knies sustained an injury late in the first period during Friday's 2-0 win over the Panthers in Game 6. He didn't leave the contest but logged only 13:01 of playing time. However, Knies will see regular deployment in Game 7 against Florida while skating on the top line and seeing time on the first power-play combination. He has registered five goals, seven points, 29 shots on net, seven blocked shots and 31 hits through 12 appearances this postseason.
-
Gabriel Vilardi WPG C
Jets' Gabriel Vilardi: Picks up assist
12h agoVilardi recorded an assist in Saturday's 2-1 overtime loss to the Stars in Game 6.
Vilardi picked up four points over six games in the second round. That was an improvement for the 25-year-old after he was held off the scoresheet in three first-round outings following his return from an upper-body injury. Vilardi added 21 shots on net, 11 hits, eight blocked shots and a plus-1 rating over nine playoff outings. He was a regular in the Jets' top six in 2024-25, earning 27 goals and 61 points in 71 regular-season games. He's a restricted free agent this offseason, but he should be back in the fold for 2025-26 once he signs a new deal.
-
Kyle Connor WPG LW
Jets' Kyle Connor: Records helper in loss
12h agoConnor notched an assist and four shots on goal in Saturday's 2-1 overtime loss to the Stars in Game 6.
Connor closed the postseason on a four-game point streak (one goal, four assists). The winger totaled five goals, 12 helpers, 45 shots on net, 11 hits and a plus-4 rating over 13 playoff appearances while frequently looking like the best player on the ice for the Jets. After a strong playoff run and a career-best 97-point regular season, Connor is poised for big things in 2025-26, which is a contract year for the 28-year-old.
-
Mark Scheifele WPG C
Jets' Mark Scheifele: Scores emotional goal in Game 6
12h agoScheifele scored a goal, doled out nine hits and added two PIM in Saturday's 2-1 overtime loss to the Stars in Game 6.
Just hours after the unexpected death of his father, Scheifele chose to suit up in Game 6 with the Jets facing elimination. He gave them a storybook start, scoring the opening goal at 5:28 of the second period, but in a cruel twist, the 32-year-old was in the penalty box when the Stars won the game in overtime. Scheifele ends the playoffs at five goals, six assists and 22 shots on net over 11 appearances. All the best to Scheifele and his family as they navigate the heartbreaking loss of a loved one.
