3h agoGM Chris Ballard noted Friday that Ogletree is off the NFL's Commissioner Exempt List, Stephen Holder of ESPN.com reports.
Per the report, Ogletree -- whose charges stemming from his arrest in December were dismissed last month -- is back with the Colts during offseason workouts. Prior to being placed on the Commissioner Exempt List on Dec. 30, Ogletree caught nine of his 21 targets for 147 yards and two TDs in 12 regular-season games with Indianapolis.

J.K. Dobbins BAL RBChargers' J.K. Dobbins: Should be ready for training camp
3h agoDobbins (Achilles), who agreed to terms with the Chargers on Thursday, "should be" ready for training camp according to GM Joe Hortiz, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
Tom Pelissero of NFL Network relayed last month that Dobbins -- who suffered a torn Achilles in Baltimore's regular-season opener in 2023 -- has been cleared for football activities, with previous reports having noted that the running back had resumed running this offseason. Based on the assessment of Hortiz on Thursday, Dobbins is still working his way back from his injury, but if the 2020 second-rounder is able to return to form, he and Gus Edwards (who also came over from the Ravens in free agency) have a chance to provide an effective 1-2 punch in the Chargers' backfield in 2024 under the guidance of offensive coordinator Greg Roman, who both players worked with in Baltimore.

Kerby Joseph DET DBLions' Kerby Joseph: Should be 100 percent for camp
5h agoJoseph (hip) -- who won't take part in practices this spring -- expects to be fully healthy by the start of training camp, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Joseph underwent an offseason procedure to address a hip injury that originally occurred in Week 2 of the 2023 campaign. Though he returned to play after missing two contests, en route to logging 82 tackles and four picks in 15 regular-season outings overall, the issue evidently lingered to the point that it required attention following the postseason. Once he's back to 100 percent, Joseph will reprise his starting free safety role with the Lions.

D.J. Chark CAR WRDJ Chark: Visits with Chargers
6h agoChark visited the Chargers on Thursday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Few teams are more in need of wide receivers, with the Chargers having released Mike Williams and traded Keenan Allen earlier this offseason. Chark has never come close to matching his 1,008-yard, eight-TD performance in 2019 for Jacksonville, but he did top 500 yards both of the past two seasons in Detroit and Carolina, starting 21 of 26 games along the way. Chark will turn 28 in September and doesn't figure to command a large contract.

Courtland Sutton DEN WRBroncos' Courtland Sutton: No concern about OTA absence
6h agoBroncos GM George Paton suggested Thursday that he isn't worried about Sutton's absence from voluntary offseason workouts, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports. "It's 100 percent voluntary," Paton said. "It's the first week of the offseason program. I've talked to Courtland. He's in a good place, and I'll just leave it at that."
Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reported Tuesday that Sutton's absence from voluntary OTAs is related to wanting a new contract. The wideout has two years and approximately $27.6 million remaining on his current deal, with only $2 million of that guaranteed. It's not the type of situation with especially high risk for a holdout, and Sutton looks to be especially important for Denver's offense after the team traded WR Jerry Jeudy to Cleveland in the offseason. It's not yet clear who will start across from Sutton at wide receiver, nor is it clear who will get the nod under center Week 1. The Broncos still have a lot to work out this spring and summer, with the upcoming NFL Draft presumably being a piece of that puzzle.

The report notes that Joseph is bouncing back from an offseason procedure to address a hip injury that he sustained in Week 2 of the 2023 season. Assuming he returns to health in time to begin the coming campaign, Joseph figures to serve as Detroit's starting free safety and is likely to rack up tackles and pass breakups in that role.

The 26-year-old opened the season on the injured list due to a back strain but is back with the Royals after he posted a 1.123 OPS over an eight-game rehab assignment. Massey should split playing time at the keystone with veteran Adam Frazier.

9m agoReds manager David Bell said Friday that Friedl (wrist) could be about 7-to-10 days away from beginning a rehab assignment, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.
Friedl has been building up strength in his fractured right wrist and ramping up his activity level. Things are going well so far and if he continues on the same pace it sounds like he could be cleared for games before the end of the month. While there's no timetable yet for his return to the active roster, Friedl makes for a viable stash if you have a free IL spot.

13m agoLeMahieu (foot) won't begin his rehab assignment at Double-A Somerset as scheduled Friday after an MRI showed less healing than was hoped for, Pete Caldera of The Bergen Record reports.
The veteran infielder said he's "ready to go" but has yet to be cleared for game action. LeMahieu will take batting practice and go through infield drills over the next few days. Manager Aaron Boone said Tuesday is now the target date for LeMahieu to begin the rehab assignment, per Chris Kirschner of The Athletic.

16m agoRuiz is not in the lineup for Friday's contest in Cleveland.
In four games since being recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas, Ruiz has started once against a left-hander but has been on the bench all three times the Athletics have faced a righty. Ruiz's speed upside warrants him being held in deeper leagues in case he starts playing more, but it's clear Oakland plans for him to be a short-side platoon player at this point.

21m agoDavis was recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque by the Rockies on Friday.
Davis is taking Kyle Freeland's (elbow) spot on the roster and seems likely to take his place in the rotation, as well. Freeland had been slated to start Saturday against the Mariners. Davis has collected a 6.62 ERA and 21:10 K:BB over 17.2 innings covering four starts with Albuquerque this season.

23m agoFreeland was placed on the 15-day injured list by the Rockies on Friday, retroactive to April 16, with a left elbow strain.
Freeland had been slated to start Saturday in spite of an injury to his right (non-throwing) shoulder that he suffered while pinch-running. However, he now has a different, more serious injury to deal with. It's not clear at this point how much time Freeland might miss. Noah Davis has taken Freeland's spot on the roster and could also take his spot in the rotation.

Lee missed the entire 2023-24 regular season but hopes to return during the postseason. Even if he gets the green light, the veteran guard isn't guaranteed a rotational role, especially if the Suns are playing well.

Gordon missed Phoenix's regular-season finale due to a migraine but returned to practice this week and should be good to go for the postseason. Over his last 15 appearances, Gordon has averaged 7.6 points, 1.5 assists and 1.1 steals in 21.9 minutes per game.

Ryan Johansen PHI CFlyers' Ryan Johansen: Out indefinitely
24m agoJohansen (undisclosed) doesn't believe he's medically fit to play hockey, and GM Daniel Briere doesn't expect to get the 31-year-old forward back, Jon Bailey of Philly Hockey Now reports Friday.
Johansen had 13 goals and 23 points in 63 contests with Colorado before being dealt to Philadelphia on March 6. The Flyers promptly tried to reassign him to AHL Lehigh Valley, but Johansen informed Philadelphia that he was hurt, which made him ineligible to be moved to the minors, per Max Miller of The Hockey News. Instead, he spent the remainder of the campaign attempting to recover from the injury. He comes with an $8 million annual cap hit through 2024-25, but the Flyers are only responsible for half of that burden with the rest being charged to Nashville because the Predators retained salary as part of the trade to Colorado back in June. If Johansen can't play in 2024-25, then he will presumably be moved to long-term injured reserve.

McMann was absent for Toronto's final two regular-season contests due to the injury. He finished the 2023-24 campaign with 15 goals, 24 points, 52 PIM and 117 hits in 56 appearances. The 27-year-old averaged just 11:34 of ice time during the regular season and would likely see his minutes be similarly limited if he is an option for the postseason opener.

1h agoNylander (undisclosed) missed Friday's practice, putting his availability for Game 1 against Boston on Saturday in question, per Joshua Kloke of The Athletic.
Nylander set a new career high of 98 points and matched his personal best of 40 goals while playing in all 82 regular-season games. The Maple Leafs might experiment with having Auston Matthews, Mitchell Marner and William Nylander all on separate lines in an effort to spread their offense, so Nylander's absence would throw a significant wrench in that plan. If he can't play in Game 1, Noah Gregor, who is otherwise projected to be a healthy scratch, might serve in a bottom-six capacity.

Fast is currently stuck in a 24-game goal drought dating back to Feb. 13 versus the Stars. During his slump, the Swede notched six helpers, 23 shots and 30 hits while averaging 12:03 of ice time. Once given the all-clear, Fast should challenge Jack Drury or Stefan Noesen for a spot in the lineup.

2h agoKulak notched an assist, three shots on goal, four blocked shots, two PIM and a minus-2 rating in Thursday's 5-1 loss to the Avalanche.
A heavily rotated Oilers team stood no chance against the full force of the Avalanche's lineup. Kulak saw a season-high 20:49 of ice time in the contest, but he'll likely be back in his familiar third-pairing role for the start of the playoffs. The Oilers begin their first-round series against the Kings on Monday. Kulak concludes the regular season with 16 points, 94 shots on net, 88 blocked shots and 77 hits over 82 appearances.
