Stefon Diggs NE WR
Patriots' Stefon Diggs: Practicing without knee brace
2d agoDiggs (ACL) participated in on-field work in uniform and without a brace on his right knee at Day 3 of OTAs on Thursday, Taylor Kyles of CLNSMedia.com reports.
The Patriots' photo release of OTAs reveals Diggs looking healthy and without any apparent hindrances related to his right knee, in which he suffered a torn right ACL on Oct. 27. While the 31-year-old wideout likely still has some hurdles to overcome in his rehab before being cleared for contact, his ability to get in some on-field work at voluntary OTAs lends further optimism to the notion he'll be a full-go for Week 1. Since signing Diggs to a three-year, $69 million deal in free agency, New England added a speedy vertical threat to the wide receiver room in the form of third-round pick Kyle Williams, plus a capable pass catcher in the backfield in second-rounder TreVeyon Henderson. Those additions don't represent huge threats to Diggs' position as the clear top target for second-year quarterback Drake Maye, health permitting, but Henderson and Williams are explosive options that this offense had otherwise been lacking in that regard with incumbent wideouts DeMario Douglas, Kayshon Boutte, Kendrick Bourne, Mack Hollins, Ja'Lynn Polk (shoulder) and Javon Baker.

Sean Murphy-Bunting ARI CB
Cardinals' Sean Murphy-Bunting: Done for season
3d agoMurphy-Bunting (undisclosed) was placed on the reserve/non-football injury list by the Cardinals on Thursday, Theo Mackie of The Arizona Republic reports.
The type of injury was not disclosed by either Murphy-Bunting or the Cardinals, but the nature of the transaction means that it happened away from team facilities and that the cornerback will miss the 2025 season. Murphy-Bunting started 15 games for the Cardinals in 2024, the first year of a three-year free-agent contract he signed the previous March. Arizona has two other experienced corners, Starling Thomas and Garrett Williams, back from last year as well as 2025 second-round pick Will Johnson.

Jermaine Burton CIN WR
Bengals' Jermaine Burton: Impressing at camp
3d agoHead coach Zac Taylor told reporters Wednesday that Burton has "done a good job" this offseason, Chris Roling of USA Today reports.
Burton, a 2024 third-round pick from Alabama, struggled throughout his rookie campaign, catching just four passes for 107 yards and tallying 378 kick-return yards over 14 games. Additionally, the Bengals had concerns about the 23-year-old's character, as he missed a pregame walkthrough and was involved in other incidents during the 2024 season. However, Taylor seems to be impressed with Burton's progression this offseason. If he can continue to impresses Cincinnati's staff this summer, Burton could serve as the team's No. 3 wide receiver in 2025.

Maxx Crosby LV DE
Raiders' Maxx Crosby: Past ankle issue
3d agoCrosby (ankle) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice, Tashan Reed of The Athletic reports.
Crosby missed the final five games of the Raiders' 2024 campaign due to an ankle injury, but his full practice participation Wednesday suggests he's already moved past the issue. The Eastern Michigan product inked a three-year, $106.5 million extension to keep him in Las Vegas in early March after posting 59.5 sacks across six seasons with the team. Now back to full health, Crosby is expected to remain one of the NFL's top defensive playmakers in 2025.
-
Aidan Hutchinson DET DE
Lions' Aidan Hutchinson: Back to full health
3d agoHutchinson (leg) told reporters Thursday that he's fully cleared to return, Eric Woodyard of ESPN.com reports.
Hutchinson was the frontrunner for Defensive Player of the Year before sustaining a season-ending leg injury in the Lions' Week 6 win over the Cowboys in 2024. However, he now appears to be completely past the issue. Over the Michigan product's first three years in the NFL, he appeared in 39 regular-season games and recorded 132 total tackles, including 28.5 sacks, 10 passes defended, with four interceptions, and four forced fumbles. Now back to full health, Hutchinson is expected to continue wreaking havoc on opposing quarterbacks in 2025.

Brian Burns NYG LB
Giants' Brian Burns: Contract restructured
3d agoThe Giants converted $10 million of Burns' base salary into a signing bonus Thursday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
According to Yates, the Giants signed 2025 third-overall pick Abdul Carter on Thursday and converted part of Burns' salary into a signing bonus to stay under the salary cap. The 2019 first-round pick made an impact in his first year with the Giants, recording 71 total tackles, including 8.5 sacks, and eight passes defended over 17 regular-season contests. He's now expected to be a part of one of the NFL's top pass-rush duos in 2025, starting opposite Carter.

Orion Kerkering PHI RP
Phillies' Orion Kerkering: Continues to get back on track
4h agoKerkering (4-1) was credited with the win in Saturday's 9-6 extra-innings win over the Athletics, allowing one hit and two walks with no strikeouts during a scoreless 10th inning.
Both of Kerkering's walks were intentional, and he's now worked seven consecutive scoreless outings. Furthermore, the 24-year-old right-hander has improved his ERA from 6.48 on April 22 to 3.72 on the season by giving up just two runs over his last 11 frames. Jordan Romano is positioned as Philadelphia's current closer, but Kerkerking remains in the high-leverage mix as a setup man with eight holds in 2025.

Miguel Andujar ATH LF
Athletics' Miguel Andujar: Delivers three-hit effort
5h agoAndujar went 3-for-6 with one RBI and one run scored in Saturday's 9-6 extra-inning loss to the Phillies.
Andujar has hit safely in five straight games since returning from right rib soreness that kept him out of a couple of contests. He is 8-for-22 (.364) since rejoining the lineup, and he continues to carve out decent playing time between third base, designated hitter and right field, which is where he started Saturday before moving to the hot corner during the game. Overall, Andujar has been excellent at the plate this season, slashing .320/.350/.435 with three home runs, 20 RBI, 16 runs scored and a stolen base over 39 contests.
-
Jacob Wilson ATH SS
Athletics' Jacob Wilson: Gets on base four times
5h agoWilson went 3-for-5 with a double, a walk and one RBI in Saturday's 9-6 extra-innings loss to the Phillies.
Wilson has four multi-hit efforts over his last six games, going 9-for-22 (.409) in that span. His double Saturday was just his second extra-base hit in that span, which also includes Tuesday's game where he exited early with a minor forearm injury. The shortstop's three-hit effort Saturday has him up to a .342 batting average this season, and he's added an .857 OPS, five home runs, four stolen bases, 11 doubles, 27 RBI and 27 runs scored over 50 contests.
-
Mason Miller ATH RP
Athletics' Mason Miller: Blows save Saturday
5h agoMiller allowed a run on two hits and a walk while striking out three over one inning, taking a blown save in Saturday's 9-6 extra-innings loss to the Phillies.
Miller hadn't received a save chance since May 10 versus the Yankees. The Athletics are 1-12 since that date, and Miller was part of the problem in this latest loss, serving up a game-tying home run to Max Kepler in the ninth inning. Miller has been scored on in five of his seven outings in May, surrendering 11 runs (10 earned) while adding a 13:8 K:BB over 6.2 innings this month. Those strikeout numbers show the flamethrower's talent, but he's in arguably the roughest patch of his young career right now. He's now at a 6.11 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 35:10 K:BB through 17.2 innings this season while converting 11 of 13 save chances.
-
Jeffrey Springs ATH SP
Athletics' Jeffrey Springs: Gives up two homers
6h agoSprings allowed four runs (three earned) on four hits and two walks while striking out six over six innings in a no-decision Saturday versus the Phillies.
Springs turned in a baseline quality start, thanks to the Phillies' first run being unearned. He also gave up solo shots to Alec Bohm and Kyle Schwarber later in the contest. Springs has given up eight runs (seven earned) over 30.2 innings in May, an all-around strong month. He's now at a 3.97 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 47:23 K:BB through 59 innings over 11 starts. Springs' next start is projected to be on the road versus the Blue Jays.
-
Nick Castellanos PHI RF
Phillies' Nick Castellanos: Gets on base three times
6h agoCastellanos went 1-for-3 with one double, two walks, two RBI and one stolen base in Saturday's 9-6 extra-innings win over the Athletics.
Castellanos gave the Phillies an early 2-0 lead with an RBI double in the first inning. He also had a sacrifice fly in the 11th to produce the final run of the game. He's logged two steals this season, both of which have come over his last 11 games, a span in which he has gone 11-for-43 (.256) with a 2:6 BB:K. Overall, he's batting .275 with a .717 OPS, four home runs, 29 RBI and 24 runs scored across 52 contests.

Luka Garza MIN PF
Timberwolves' Luka Garza: Cracks rotation Saturday
5h agoGarza recorded seven points (3-3 FG, 1-1 3Pt) across five minutes during Saturday's 143-101 win over the Thunder in Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals.
Garza appeared in a game for just the fourth time these playoffs, scoring a postseason-high seven points. With the result all but settled heading into the final quarter, Minnesota was able to trot out its fringe players, providing them with a rare opportunity to see the court during what is the pointy end of the season. The Timberwolves will be looking to build on this performance when the two teams line up again in Game 4.
-
Anthony Edwards MIN SG
Timberwolves' Anthony Edwards: Lands game-high 30 points
5h agoEdwards accumulated 30 points (12-17 FG, 5-8 3Pt, 1-2 FT), nine rebounds, six assists and two steals in 30 minutes during Saturday's 143-101 victory over the Thunder in Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals.
Edwards carried the Timberwolves to a comfortable win in Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals, needing just 30 minutes to score a game-high 30 points. This one was never in doubt for Minnesota, allowing the starters to get some much-needed rest during the final quarter. Edwards will be looking for a repeat performance when the two teams meet again Monday, with the Timberwolves a chance to level the series at 2-2.
-
Terrence Shannon Jr. MIN SG
Timberwolves' Terrence Shannon: Shows out in Game 3 victory
5h agoShannon contributed 15 points (5-8 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 4-4 FT), two rebounds, one assist and one steal in 13 minutes during Saturday's 143-101 win over the Thunder in Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals.
Shannon became just the third rookie to score at least 15 points off the bench during the postseason and the first Minnesota player to do so, taking advantage of what was a thumping victory by the Timberwolves. While this was a much-needed win, it is unlikely the Thunder will turn up with the same effort, or lack thereof, when the two teams meet again Monday. Despite Shannon's scoring outburst, he remains nothing more than a depth piece, having played a total of just seven minutes in the previous eight games combined.
-
Ousmane Dieng OKC SF
Thunder's Ousmane Dieng: Rare appearance Saturday
5h agoDieng amassed six points (2-2 FG, 2-2 3Pt) and one rebound in seven minutes during Saturday's 143-101 loss to the Timberwolves in Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals.
Dieng, along with a host of other fringe options, shifted into a more sizeable role as the Thunder were trounced by the Timberwolves. During what was a night to forget for Oklahoma City, the coaching staff opted to lean into the second and third units, allowing the starters some much-needed rest down the stretch. The Thunder still have a 2-1 lead in the series, with Game 4 scheduled for Monday in Minnesota.
-
Ajay Mitchell OKC PG
Thunder's Ajay Mitchell: Scores postseason-high 14 points
5h agoMitchell racked up 14 points (6-11 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 1-1 FT), one assist and one steal over 19 minutes during Saturday's 143-101 loss to the Timberwolves in Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals.
The Thunder was no match for the Timberwolves, waving the white flag early in the piece, affording the bench unit with some extra run. Mitchell made the most of a rare opportunity, matching Shai Gilgeous-Alexander with a team-high 14 points. Mitchell has not been on the court when it matters thus far during the playoffs, making this nothing more than an outlier.
-
Dillon Jones OKC SF
Thunder's Dillon Jones: Scores 10 points in 10 minutes
5h agoJones provided 10 points (4-5 FG, 2-2 3Pt), three rebounds, one assist and one steal across 10 minutes during Saturday's 143-101 loss to the Timberwolves in Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals.
Jones tallied double-digit scoring for just the fourth time in his career, playing almost the entire fourth quarter as the Thunder handed the Timberwolves a comfortable victory. This one was basically over at halftime, with Oklahoma City offering very little in the way of resistance. Jones has been used sparingly thus far during the postseason, appearing only when the game gets out of hand.

Jesperi Kotkaniemi CAR C
Hurricanes' Jesperi Kotkaniemi: Draws in, earns assist
8h agoKotkaniemi notched a power-play assist, five hits and two PIM in Saturday's 6-2 loss to the Panthers in Game 3.
Kotkaniemi was scratched for Game 2, but he rejoined the lineup in place of Jack Roslovic for Game 3. During the playoffs, Kotkaniemi has been limited to four assists, two of which have come with the man advantage. The center also has 16 shots on net, 27 hits, 12 PIM and a plus-1 rating over 12 playoff appearances. He should continue to see middle-six usage.
-
Brent Burns CAR D
Hurricanes' Brent Burns: Grabs power-play assist
8h agoBurns notched a power-play assist in Saturday's 6-2 loss to the Panthers in Game 3.
Burns ended a four-game point drought with the helper. The 40-year-old defenseman has just four points (two on the power play) over 13 playoff contests. He's added 18 shots on net, 16 blocked shots, eight PIM and an even plus-minus rating while skating alongside Jaccob Slavin in a top-pairing role.
-
Sebastian Aho CAR LW
Hurricanes' Sebastian Aho: Nabs power-play helper
8h agoAho recorded a power-play assist, two shots on goal, two PIM and a minus-3 rating in Saturday's 6-2 loss to the Panthers in Game 3.
Aho hasn't gotten on the scoresheet in consecutive contests since his four-game streak to end the first round. The 27-year-old is up to four goals, eight assists, seven power-play points, 31 shots on net, 42 hits, 10 blocked shots and a plus-1 rating over 13 playoff contests. The Hurricanes are facing a 3-0 series deficit heading into Monday's Game 4, and if Aho doesn't pick up the pace on offense, they'll see their playoff run come to an end.
-
Seth Jarvis CAR C
Hurricanes' Seth Jarvis: Strikes on power play in loss
8h agoJarvis scored a power-play goal, added two hits and went minus-2 in Saturday's 6-2 loss to the Panthers in Game 3.
Jarvis avoided missing time after getting hurt in Game 2 on Thursday. The 23-year-old netted his fifth goal of the postseason, but it was scored after the Panthers had a five-goal rally in the third period. Jarvis is at 13 points (eight on the power play), 31 shots on net, 42 hits, 10 blocked shots and an even plus-minus rating over 13 playoff contests.
-
Logan Stankoven CAR C
Hurricanes' Logan Stankoven: Pair of points in loss
8h agoStankoven scored a goal on four shots, added an assist and went minus-2 in Saturday's 6-2 loss to the Panthers in Game 3.
Both of Stankoven's points came on the power play. His goal tied the game at 1-1, but the Panthers had pulled far ahead by the time he set up Seth Jarvis' tally in the third period. This ended a four-game drought for Stankoven, who has played a supporting role in the playoffs. He's at four goals, three assists, 22 shots on net, 15 hits and a minus-2 rating over 13 playoff contests.
-
Pyotr Kochetkov CAR G
Hurricanes' Pyotr Kochetkov: Yields six goals in loss
8h agoKochetkov allowed six goals on 28 shots in Saturday's 6-2 loss to the Panthers in Game 3.
Kochetkov played the third period in Game 2 and got the start in Game 3, but he hasn't fared any better than Frederik Andersen in the Eastern Conference Finals. The 25-year-old Kochetkov has allowed 12 goals on 83 shots over four playoff appearances, going 1-1. The Hurricanes haven't revealed who will be tasked with the start in a must-win Game 4 on Monday.
