Trent Taylor CHI WR49ers' Trent Taylor: Returns to The Bay
40m agoTaylor signed a one-year contract with the 49ers on Tuesday, Lindsey Pallares of the team's official site reports.
Taylor started his career in San Francisco before a two-year stay with the Bengals and spending the 2023 campaign with the Bears. The 29-year-old will likely have the opportunity to earn a role in the return game with the departure of Ray-Ray McCloud in free agency this offseason.

Trent Taylor: Could return to The Bay
1h agoTaylor has talked to the 49ers about a potential return to the team this offseason, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Taylor was selected by San Francisco in the fifth round of the 2017 Draft and spent three seasons there before stops in Cincinnati and Chicago. The 49ers do currently have a void in their return game, with Ray-Ray McCloud now in Atlanta, which is likely where the interest in Taylor lies.

3h agoWatson (shoulder) said Tuesday he's already resumed "throwing full speed" but that he's uncertain how large a workload he'll handle during OTAs and minicamp, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
Watson clarified that certain members of the Browns' medical staff are in favor of a more conservative approach to the quarterback's recovery from right shoulder surgery, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram, which would wait until training camp to have him fully practice. Still, Watson has been fully forthright in his confidence to be available for the Browns' season opener, and there appear to be no real worries about his Week 1 status. In case Watson misses part of the offseason, or struggles during the fall, Cleveland can lean on newly-signed, experienced backups Jameis Winston and Tyler Huntley.

4h agoDolphins general manager Chris Grier said Tuesday that there's "nothing imminent" on a deal between Beckham and the team, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com reports.
Beckham was reportedly extended a contract offer by Miami after visiting with the team back in March, but it doesn't appear that a signing is around the corner. The 31-year-old is coming off a forgettable 14-game season with the Ravens, in which he put up a 35-565-3 receiving line, but he could find more success as a No. 3 option behind Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. It could be that Beckham will need to wait until after the dust of the 2024 NFL Draft has settled to find a landing spot.

Jaylen Waddle MIA WRDolphins' Jaylen Waddle: Fifth-year option to be exercised
4h agoGeneral manager Chris Grier said Tuesday that he expects the Dolphins to pick up Waddle's fifth-year option, Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network reports.
The Dolphins have consistently stated a desire to come to terms with Waddle on a long-term contract, and Grier specifically dismissed trade rumors earlier this offseason. The third-year pro has recorded three straight 1,000-yard seasons to begin his career, becoming the first wideout to do so in franchise history, and there's little question of his value as a No. 2 read behind Tyreek Hill. Picking up Waddle's fifth-year option will keep him under contract with the Dolphins for two more seasons.

5h agoDecker said Tuesday he underwent foot/ankle surgery this offseason and resumed working out mid-February, Justin Rogers of The Detroit News reports.
Decker appears already recovered from his offseason procedure. The 30-year-old left tackle missed only two regular-season games last season while suiting up for all three of Detroit's postseason contests. Now heading into the final year of his contract, Decker is still playing at a high level.

6m agoCruz was placed back into the Pirates' lineup versus the Mets on Tuesday after a lineup adjustment.
Cruz was initially not in the lineup Tuesday. With southpaw Jose Quintana on the mound for the Mets, Pirates manager Derek Shelton thought that it was a good time to give the left-handed hitting Cruz a breather. The shortstop's insertion into the lineup corresponds with Ke'Bryan Hayes's late scratch.

12m agoThe Brewers recalled Miller from Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday.
With Christian Yelich (back) headed for the IL, Miller will come up from the minors to give the Brewers an additional bench piece that is capable fielding numerous positions. The 27-year-old has gotten off to a strong start at Triple-A, slashing .353/.414/.451 through 58 plate appearances, though his stint in Milwaukee will likely come to an end once Yelich comes off the injured list.

17m agoThe Brewers placed Yelich on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with a lower-back strain.
Yelich's move to the IL is retroactive to Saturday, so he will be eligible to return beginning next Tuesday. It's unclear whether or not the 32-year-old outfielder will be ready to return by then, but his condition has improved since sustaining the injury during Friday's game against Baltimore. While he's out, Blake Perkins will likely continue seeing regular playing time in the outfield, and the Brewers will promote Owen Miller from Triple-A Nashville to add to their depth.

Hayes was initially slotted to start at third and hit third Tuesday. Oneil Cruz will enter the lineup at shortstop and bat seventh with Jared Triolo shifting to Hayes's position and spot in the order. The reasoning for the 27-year-old's removal from the Pirates' lineup is not yet clear.

Dosunmu expressed optimism earlier Tuesday that he will be available for Wednesday's contest, but his status is nonetheless undetermined. The 24-year-old has not taken the court since April 7, but his excellent two-way play was pivotal down the stretch in keeping Chicago afloat, as the Bulls carry a minus-1.9 net rating on the season -- ranking 21st in the league.

Melton has logged just five appearances since Jan. 12, being unable to return to 100 percent after initially dealing with a lumbar stress reaction in his spine. Subsequent attempts to return to action have been short-lived, and his absence from Philadelphia's rotation is a notable loss defensively. Win or lose Wednesday, Philadelphia will have another postseason contest in store, but Melton's outlook is currently bleak.

Embiid sat out Sunday's regular-season finale against the Nets due to precautionary reasons but practiced Monday and Tuesday. The 76ers have won eight straight, including five in a row with Embiid back in the lineup, and the reining MVP has looked great in the process, averaging 30.4 points, 9.2 rebounds, 5.2 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.2 blocks in 30.6 minutes per game.

Forsberg played well in his last start Thursday versus Tampa Bay, turning aside 24 of 26 shots in regulation before securing a 3-2 win in the shootout. He'll try to end the season with a bang by picking up a win in a tough road matchup with a Boston team that's 24-10-6 at home this year.

Imama logged just six NHL games this season in which he failed to register a point while recording 22 hits, one block and seven PIM. In the minors this season, Imama hasn't been significantly more productive with just 10 points in 53 outings.

Lindgren gets the starting nod on the second game of the Caps' season-ending back-to-back after stopping all 16 shots he faced versus Boston on Monday. Perhaps if the Minnesota native had faced a heavier workload, then the club would have decided to roll with Darcy Kuemper. In his last five outings, the 30-year-old Lindgren is 3-1-1 with a 1.81 GAA and a .931 save percentage. He figures to remain Washington's preferred choice between the pipes should the Capitals make the playoffs.
