Aidan Hutchinson DET DE
Lions' Aidan Hutchinson: Doing well at practice
2d agoLions defensive line coach Kacy Rodgers said Thursday that Hutchinson (leg) has looked "really good" at voluntary offseason workouts, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Hutchinson suffered a fractured tibia and fibula roughly seven months ago, and he was initially provided a four- to six-month recovery timetable. The star pass rusher's rehab appears to have been on the quicker side, given that Detroit had expressed optimism about him returning down the stretch last season, had the team advanced all the way to the Super Bowl. Hutchinson has already resumed running at full speed and participating in individual drills, and while Rodgers noted that his workload will continue to be managed into training camp, he remains on track for Week 1. The Lions picked up Hutchinson's fifth-year option late April.

D.J. Humphries KC OT
D.J. Humphries: Yet to sign reported deal with SF
2d agoHumphries and the 49ers have not yet agreed upon a contract despite a late-April report that the veteran offensive lineman had signed with the team, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
It was Humphries' representation that initially announced that the sides had agreed to a contract, but per Maiocco, that deal was never finalized. Maiocco also reports that "nothing appears imminent" between Humphries and San Francisco, making the 2015 first-round draft pick very much still a free agent. Since the reported deal, San Francisco has agreed to contracts with veteran offensive linemen Andre Dillard and Nicholas Petit-Frere, so it's unclear whether the organization has maintained interest in signing Humphries.

John Jenkins LV DT
Ravens' John Jenkins: Lands in Baltimore
3d agoThe Ravens signed Jenkins to a one-year contract Friday.
Jenkins is a veteran of 13 NFL campaigns who played the previous two years with Las Vegas. He logged a career-high 581 defensive snaps while starting all 17 regular-season games with the Raiders last year, totaling 46 tackles, including 1.0 sacks, and two defensed passes. Baltimore is set up front with Nnamdi Madubuike, Travis Jones and Broderick Washington, so Jenkins will likely work in a rotational role with his new squad.

Greg Zuerlein NYJ K
Greg Zuerlein: Cut following failed physical
3d agoThe Jets released Zuerlein (knee) with a failed physical designation Friday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Zuerlein landed on injured reserve after Week 8 last season due to a left knee injury but was activated from the list prior to a Week 17 matchup with the Bills. He didn't attempt a kick in that game and then was placed on IR afterward, ending his campaign having made nine of 15 field-goal attempts and 13 of 14 point-after tries. The Jets announced the current move earlier Friday, but the reason for his release wasn't known until the NFL posted its transaction log for the day. New York will move forward with Anders Carlson and undrafted rookie Caden Davis this offseason, while the 37-year-old Zuerlein presumably will need to prove his health in order to earn another opportunity.

Greg Joseph NYJ K
49ers' Greg Joseph: Headed to 49ers
3d agoThe 49ers are slated to sign Joseph, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.
In a combined eight regular-season appearances in 2024 (split between the Giants, Commanders and Jets), Joseph made 16 of 20 field-goal attempts, along with all 11 of his PAT tries. With the 49ers, Joseph will have an opportunity to compete with 2023 third-rounder Jake Moody, who has been San Francisco's kicker for the last two campaigns.

Brock Purdy SF QB
49ers' Brock Purdy: Gets massive five-year extension
3d agoPurdy and the 49ers agreed to terms Friday on a five-year, $265 million contract extension, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Purdy's new deal has been the largest domino waiting to fall of San Francisco's offseason, and the 2022 seventh-round pick now gains long-term commitment from the team via a contract that runs through 2030, and which includes $181 million in total guarantees. The 25-year-old is coming off a down season, having dipped essentially across the board in most passing metrics while throwing just 20 touchdowns, as opposed to the 31 passing scores he logged in 2023. San Francisco's offense as a whole tumbled in 2024, though, an outcome that can in no small part be blamed on injuries to Brandon Aiyuk (ACL) and Christian McCaffrey (knee). The 49ers also inked George Kittle to a four-year extension this offseason, a particularly notable signing given that the standout tight end may operate as Purdy's top pass catcher to kick off the 2025 season, considering Deebo Samuel has been traded to Washington and Aiyuk is still in the process of recovering. Still, with McCaffrey back in action, plus Jauan Jennings, Ricky Pearsall and Demarcus Robinson available to lead the wide-receiver room until Aiyuk is 100 percent, Purdy will have no shortage of offensive weapons at his disposal as he works to make the first year under his new deal a comeback season.

Spencer Strider ATL SP
Braves' Spencer Strider: Activated ahead of Tuesday's start
9m agoAtlanta activated Strider (hamstring) from the 15-day injured list Monday.
Atlanta is idle Monday, but Strider will make his return to the rotation Tuesday with a start against the Nationals on the road. The right-hander missed nearly a month of action with a strained hamstring and was cleared to return after completing a 65-pitch simulated game last week. Strider probably won't be ready for a full workload Tuesday and his velocity was down a tick during the sim game. However, he's drawn a favorable matchup Tuesday and is also lined up for a second start later this week at home versus the Padres, so fantasy managers will want to have him active.

Colton Gordon HOU SP
Astros' Colton Gordon: Nabs another start
11m agoGordon is scheduled to start Monday's series opener versus the Rays in Tampa.
Gordon will be awarded a second turn through the rotation after he was called up from Triple-A Sugar Land last Wednesday to make his MLB debut. He settled for a no-decision in his first start after giving up three earned runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out three over 4.1 innings in the Astros' 4-3 win over the Royals. The Astros are likely to continue maintaining a six-man rotation this week, but Houston may have room for just one of Gordon and Ryan Gusto if manager Joe Espada decides to scale the rotation back to five men next week.

David Hamilton BOS 2B
Red Sox's David Hamilton: Steals base in loss
17m agoHamilton started at second base and went 2-for-4 with a double and a stolen base in Sunday's 10-4 loss to Atlanta.
Hamilton got the start at second base with a slumping Kristian Campbell (.078 in last 13 games) getting a breather. Hamilton doesn't start often but has made an impact with eight steals in a limited role (58 at-bats). With news that Campbell has begun taking reps at first base, an opening could eventually emerge for Hamilton, who has shaken off an early season slump. He's batting .393 (11-for-28) with six steals in 12 games during the month of May.
-
Matt Shaw CHC 3B
Cubs' Matt Shaw: Promotion to big club coming
18m agoThe Cubs are expected to recall Shaw from Triple-A Iowa prior to Monday's game in Miami, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.
Shaw was demoted in mid-April after slashing only .172/.294/.241 across 68 plate appearances, but he got back on track at Iowa with a .970 OPS, six home runs, five steals and an 11:17 K:BB over 24 contests. That includes back-to-back, two-homer games last week. Shaw will get another crack at being the Cubs' everyday third baseman.

Kevin Pillar TEX CF
Rangers' Kevin Pillar: Hitless in return
1h agoPillar started in right field and went 0-for-4 in Sunday's 4-3 loss to the Astros.
Pillar was activated off the injured list Sunday and in the lineup against Houston left-hander Framber Valdez. Pillar is typically in the lineup against lefties but could see opportunities against right-handers after primary center fielder Evan Carter (quad) was placed on the 10-day injured list.
-
Sam Haggerty TEX CF
Rangers' Sam Haggerty: Starts in center field Sunday
1h agoHaggerty started in center field and batted leadoff Sunday, going 1-for-4 with a run scored in a 4-3 loss to Houston.
Haggerty stepped in for Evan Carter on Saturday, when the latter was scratched due to a quad issue. The injury landed Carter on the 10-day injured list, is considered a Grade 2 strain and will likely force him to miss two weeks at least, according to MLB.com. That likely means the switch-hitting Haggerty and righty-batting Kevin Pillar will split duties in the center field.

Hunter Tyson DEN SF
Nuggets' Hunter Tyson: Makes garbage-time cameo in Game 7
44m agoTyson (ankle) played the final 9:36 of Sunday's 125-93 loss to the Thunder in Game 7 of the Western Conference Semifinals, scoring five points (2-3 FG, 1-2 3Pt) and adding three rebounds and one assist.
Tyson had missed the previous three games of the series due to a right ankle sprain, though the second-year forward hadn't been part of the Nuggets' postseason rotation anyway. He was able to get some run in Game 7, though he didn't check into the game until the Thunder had built a 32-point lead. Tyson finished the regular season with averages of 2.6 points, 1.5 rebounds and 0.4 assists in 7.8 minutes per contest while shooting 37.5 percent from the field in 51 appearances (two starts).

Chet Holmgren OKC C
Thunder's Chet Holmgren: Double-doubles with full stat line
14h agoHolmgren accumulated 13 points (4-9 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 5-6 FT), 11 rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal in 28 minutes during Sunday's 125-93 win over the Nuggets in Game 7 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
It was Holmgren's fifth double-double of the series, and he provided a full stat line for a third consecutive outing. The star big man has been an integral component of Oklahoma City's playoff run on both ends of the floor, having averaged 15.7 points, 9.7 rebounds, 2.2 blocks, 0.9 steals and 1.5 three-pointers in 30.2 minutes across 11 postseason contests. Holmgren will be tasked with trying to slow down Julius Randle in the Western Conference Finals, and he'll also be contending with Rudy Gobert's standout defense throughout the series.
-
Jalen Williams OKC SF
Thunder's Jalen Williams: Team-high seven assists Sunday
14h agoWilliams supplied 24 points (10-17 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 2-3 FT), five rebounds, seven assists and one steal over 33 minutes during Sunday's 125-93 win over the Nuggets in Game 7 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Williams led the team in assists, facilitating the offense while Shai Gilgeous-Alexander shouldered the load in the scoring department. Despite not hitting the 20-point plateau in five of the seven games this series, Williams is still averaging a strong 19.6 points, 5.7 assists, 5.4 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 1.4 three-pointers in 35.0 minutes over 11 games in the playoffs. On tap for the star swingman in the Western Conference Finals is a date with Minnesota, and Williams averaged 19.8 points, 6.8 assists, 4.8 rebounds, 2.0 steals, 0.8 blocks and 1.5 three-pointers across four games against the Timberwolves during the regular season.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander OKC SG
Thunder's Shai Gilgeous-Alexander: Leads all scorers in Game 7 win
14h agoGilgeous-Alexander chipped in 35 points (12-19 FG, 3-4 3Pt, 8-9 FT), three rebounds, four assists, one block and three steals across 36 minutes during Sunday's 125-93 victory over the Nuggets in Game 7 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Gilgeous-Alexander powered the Thunder to a Game 7 triumph, reaching the 25-point mark for the sixth time this series. Through 11 playoff games, the MVP candidate has averaged 29.0 points, 6.4 assists, 5.9 rebounds, 1.5 steals, 0.7 blocks and 1.5 three-pointers in 36.6 minutes. Next up for Gilgeous-Alexander in the Western Conference Finals is a tough matchup with the Timberwolves, who rank second this postseason in opponent points per game (101.1).

Christian Braun DEN SF
Nuggets' Christian Braun: Finishes breakout year on high note
15h agoBraun finished Sunday's 125-93 loss to the Thunder in Game 7 of the Western Conference Semifinals with 19 points (7-14 FG, 2-9 3Pt, 3-4 FT), four rebounds, three assists and one steal across 33 minutes.
Braun fell one point shy of the team-high mark in scoring, wrapping up both a solid regular season and postseason for the Nuggets. Over 14 playoff games, the 24-year-old swingman averaged 12.6 points, 6.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.2 steals and 0.7 blocks in 38.9 minutes. Braun should have a good chance of remaining a regular starter in 2025-26 following his breakout campaign, and he could have an even bigger role if Russell Westbrook declines his player option and heads elsewhere this offseason.
-
Michael Porter Jr. DEN SF
Nuggets' Michael Porter: Wraps up rough postseason
15h agoPorter totaled six points (3-8 FG, 0-4 3Pt), three rebounds, one assist and one steal over 23 minutes during Sunday's 125-93 loss to the Thunder in Game 7 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
It concludes a rough postseason for Porter, who shot just 39.2 percent from the field and 34.3 percent from downtown while managing a significant shoulder injury. Additionally, the veteran sharpshooter averaged just 9.1 points, 5.5 rebounds, 0.6 steals, 0.4 blocks and 1.7 three-pointers in 31.1 minutes across 14 playoff games. Despite his postseason struggles, Porter will likely still be worth targeting for points and three-pointers in the middle rounds of fantasy drafts for 2025-26.
-
Bobby McMann TOR C
Maple Leafs' Bobby McMann: Nabs assist in Game 7 loss
10h agoMcMann produced an assist, three shots on goal and five hits in Sunday's 6-1 loss to the Panthers in Game 7.
McMann had two assists over the last two games of the playoffs. In total, he picked up three helpers, 18 shots on net, 49 hits, 16 PIM and a minus-2 rating in 13 postseason outings while filling a third-line role. McMann can do better than that, though this was his first year of playoff experience. He had 20 goals and 34 points in 74 regular-season outings and should be a viable depth pick in fantasy for 2025-26.
-
Max Domi TOR C
Maple Leafs' Max Domi: Nets lone goal in loss
10h agoDomi scored a goal and added three hits in Sunday's 6-1 loss to the Panthers in Game 7.
Domi's tally 2:07 into the third period gave the Maple Leafs a brief hope of a comeback, cutting the Panthers' lead to 3-1 at the time. Those hopes were quickly dashed, as Eetu Luostarinen tipped in a goal 47 seconds later, allowing Florida to cruise into the Eastern Conference Finals. Domi put up three goals, four assists, 19 shots on net, 17 hits, 33 PIM and a plus-2 rating over 13 playoff appearances while primarily serving as Toronto's third-line center.
-
Joseph Woll TOR G
Maple Leafs' Joseph Woll: Holds fort, then fades in loss
10h agoWoll stopped 28 of 33 shots in Sunday's 6-1 loss to the Panthers in Game 7. The sixth goal was an empty-netter.
Woll was under siege for a large portion of the first period, but he was able to get the game to the first intermission with no goals on the board. The Panthers regrouped well and put three goals away in the second, and the Maple Leafs couldn't provide much of a response. Woll ends the postseason 3-4 with a 3.56 GAA and an .886 save percentage over seven games, all in the second round after Anthony Stolarz was knocked out of the series opener versus Florida due to an upper-body injury. Heading into 2025-26, it's likely the Maple Leafs will run it back with Woll and Stolarz as a tandem in goal, as the duo gave Toronto stability from the net out in the regular season.
-
A.J. Greer FLA LW
Panthers' A.J. Greer: Chips in with assist
11h agoGreer posted an assist, two shots on goal and seven hits in Sunday's 6-1 win over the Maple Leafs in Game 7.
This was Greer's second point in eight appearances this postseason. The 28-year-old set up a Jonah Gadjovich tally in the second period. Greer has added 30 hits, six shots on net, six PIM and a minus-1 rating while filling a fourth-line role when in the lineup. He can play a physical game, but don't expect much offense.
-
Evan Rodrigues FLA C
Panthers' Evan Rodrigues: Logs assist in return
11h agoRodrigues notched an assist and two blocked shots in Sunday's 6-1 win over the Maple Leafs in Game 7.
Rodrigues missed two games due to an undisclosed injury. He was able to return to a top-six role and saw 17:41 of ice time as the Panthers closed out the Maple Leafs to get into the Eastern Conference Finals. Rodrigues continues to be a decent depth forward with four assists, 16 shots on net, 19 hits and a minus-1 rating over 10 playoff appearances.
-
Aleksander Barkov FLA C
Panthers' Aleksander Barkov: Collects pair of assists
11h agoBarkov logged two assists and a plus-2 rating in Sunday's 6-1 win over the Maple Leafs in Game 7.
Barkov helped out on Seth Jones' opening tally in the second period and also fed Sam Reinhart with a faceoff win for the Panthers' fifth goal. This was Barkov's first multi-point effort since the playoff opener versus the Lightning on April 22. The 29-year-old center is up to three goals, seven assists, 27 shots on net, 32 hits, nine blocked shots and a plus-4 rating over 12 postseason contests. He'll continue to be busy in the Eastern Conference Finals, where his two-way skills will be tested by the Hurricanes' relentless puck possession and grinding playing style.
