Mario Edwards SEA DE
Mario Edwards: Visits Houston
6h agoEdwards (knee) had a visit with the Texans on Monday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Edwards missed the final game of the 2023 season due to a knee injury. His visit in Houston indicates he has put that injury behind him. The journeyman recorded 21 tackles (15 solo), one pass defensed and one forced fumble across 15 games for Seattle last season. He is now looking for a new opportunity.

Chase Young SF DE
Saints' Chase Young: Officially joins New Orleans
7h agoThe Saints and Young agreed to a contract Monday.
According to Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com, Young's new deal will be for one year. The No. 2 overall pick in the 2020 Draft, Young earned Defensive Rookie of the Year honors to kick off his career, but his next two seasons were derailed by injuries, and he split 2023 between the Commanders and 49ers. With 16.5 sacks in 43 games in his first four campaigns, he'll be a part of a New Orleans pass rush that features Cameron Jordan and Carl Granderson.
-
Joshua Dobbs MIN QB
49ers' Joshua Dobbs: Finds work in San Francisco
7h agoThe 49ers and Dobbs agreed to a contract Monday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
In 13 games (12 starts) between the Cardinals and Vikings this past season, Dobbs completed 262 of 417 (62.8 percent) of his passes for 2,464 yards, 13 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He also was viable as a runner, averaging 5.5 yards on his 77 carries while scoring six TDs on the ground. Brock Purdy is the unquestioned starting quarterback for San Francisco, but Dobbs' recent on-field work should give him a leg up on the backup job ahead of holdover Brandon Allen.

Rico Dowdle DAL RB
Cowboys' Rico Dowdle: Remaining with Dallas
7h agoDowdle is set to re-sign with the Cowboys, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports.
Following the free-agent departure of Tony Pollard, Dowdle is poised to reclaim his role in a Dallas backfield that also currently includes Deuce Vaughn, Malik Davis and Snoop Conner. Chances are, the Cowboys will add further RB depth via free agency or the draft, so until the team's personnel at the position is settled, Dowdle's fantasy upside for the 2024 season will be difficult to gauge.
-
Alexander Mattison MIN RB
Raiders' Alexander Mattison: Set to join Las Vegas backfield
8h agoMattison is in line to sign with the Raiders, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
In 16 games for the Vikings during the 2023 regular season, Mattison had 180 carries for 700 yards and caught 30 of his 44 targets for 192 yards and three receiving TDs. With the Raiders, Mattison -- who turns 26 in June -- is slated to provide the team with needed backfield depth and a complementary option alongside 2022 fourth-rounder Zamir White following the free-agent departure of Josh Jacobs. Assuming White serves as Las Vegas' top RB option, Mattison's weekly upside will be modest, but if White is injured or struggles at all as the 2024 season progresses, Mattison could reenter the fantasy lineup equation.

Chase Young SF DE
Chase Young: Looks set to sign with New Orleans
9h agoYoung is expected to sign a contract with the Saints after visiting with the team Monday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Young, the No. 2 overall pick of the 2020 NFL Draft and former Defensive Rookie of the Year, was acquired by the 49ers prior to last season's trade deadline. He tallied 2.5 sacks across nine regular-season games with San Francisco but was allowed to walk in free agency, where it looks like he'll get a fresh start in New Orleans. Young looks to finally be back in top form after knee issues significantly hampered him in 2021 and 2022, and it would be an ideal situation for him to pair with (and learn from) veteran defensive end Cameron Jordan with the Saints.

Jorge Alcala MIN RP
Twins' Jorge Alcala: Likely to make MLB bullpen
16m agoAlcala looks set to begin the season in the Minnesota bullpen with injuries to Caleb Thielbar (hamstring) and Jhoan Duran (oblique), MLB.com reports. He has a 2.16 ERA this spring with a 10:3 K:BB ratio in 8.1 innings.
Alcala has had a strong spring and looks back to full strength after two injury-plagued seasons. He threw just 17.1 innings last season with an ugly 6.23 ERA and missed more than four months with a stress fracture in his right forearm. He threw just 2.1 innings in 2022 due to an elbow injury that required season-ending arthroscopic debridement surgery. He could become part of the setup mix if his fastball can come close to averaging the high-90s mph from earlier in his career (97.4 average mph fastball in 2021).
-
Angel Felipe OAK RP
Angel Felipe: Hits open market
1h agoThe Athletics released Felipe (elbow) on Monday.
Felipe was designated for assignment Saturday and will now become a free agent after failing to draw any interest on waivers. He's already been ruled out for the entire 2024 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery Friday.
-
John Brebbia CHW RP
White Sox's John Brebbia: Works one inning
1h agoBrebbia (calf) threw one inning in a minor-league game Monday, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Brebbia is working his way back from a calf injury and had a successful return to game action. He remained non-committal about his status for Opening Day, noting that he typically needs eight-to-10 innings in the exhibition season to get properly stretched out. Monday's outing marked his first game action of the spring, meaning he may need to start the regular season on the injured list.
-
Henry Davis PIT RF
Pirates' Henry Davis: Drawing praise for defensive work
1h agoDavis has impressed some in the Pirates pitching staff with his defensive work this spring, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Davis entered spring training with an uncertain fit on the big-league roster, primarily due to concern about his defensive ability behind the plate. However, he's drawn praise from both Mitch Keller and Jared Jones in recent days, and he also effectively blocked a pitch that was bounced by Martin Perez in Monday's game against the Phillies. Aiding Davis's cause is Yasmani Grandal's (foot) absence, a combination that seems likely to land him on the roster and in the lineup on Opening Day.
-
Martin Perez PIT SP
Pirates' Martin Perez: Locked into rotation spot
2h agoPerez has allowed one earned run across 12 innings with a 13:4 K:BB in Grapefruit League action.
There are a couple of vacancies in the back of the Pirates' rotation, but Perez will be locked in as a starter to begin the regular season. He built up to five innings in an outing against the Philies on Monday, racking up eight strikeouts against two walks without allowing a run. Despite the strong form, there should be some skepticism about Perez's performance, as he's posted an ERA above 4.40 in six of his last seven campaigns.
-
Brandon Bielak HOU SP
Astros' Brandon Bielak: Likely to make big-league club
2h agoBielak is likely to make the big-league roster out of spring training due to a combination of injuries to the Astros pitching staff, and because he is out of minor-league options, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
Bielak hasn't pitched well this spring, allowing six earned runs across 7.1 innings while maintaining just a 5:4 K:BB. However, with both Justin Verlander (shoulder) and Jose Urquidy (forearm) destined for the injured list to begin the campaign, the Astros are in need of pitching depth. As things currently stand, Bielak is expected to serve in a relief role, with Ronel Blanco serving as the fifth starter.
-
Trent Forrest ATL SG
Hawks' Trent Forrest: Dishes six dimes in defeat
15m agoForrest notched two points (1-2 FG), four rebounds and six assists over 22 minutes during Monday's 136-105 loss to the Lakers.
Forrest got a little more run than usual due to the lopsided nature of the score, as his 22 minutes were his most of the campaign. The fourth-year guard wasn't aggressive as a shooter but did manage to finish second on the team with six assists. Forrest's opportunities have increased a bit since Trae Young went down with a finger injury in late February, but the former's production hasn't come closer to warranting fantasy attention.
-
Dejounte Murray ATL PG
Hawks' Dejounte Murray: Posts quiet double-double Monday
20m agoMurray accumulated 13 points (6-18 FG, 1-9 3Pt), five rebounds, 10 assists and three steals across 31 minutes during Monday's 136-105 loss to the Lakers.
Murray managed his second straight double-double in defeat, but he struggled to put the ball in the hoop, especially from deep. The point guard's 13 points were his fewest since Feb. 14, and his performance Monday snapped a five-game streak of draining at least four triples. Murray was due for an off day after posting sizzling averages of 25.9 points, 8.3 assists, 5.6 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 3.2 three-pointers over 12 games following the All-Star break prior to Monday.
-
Onyeka Okongwu ATL C
Hawks' Onyeka Okongwu: Logs 19 minutes in return
25m agoOkongwu had 11 points (5-7 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 0-1 FT), four rebounds, two assists and two steals in 19 minutes during Monday's 136-105 loss to the Lakers.
Okongwu had missed 13 straight contests due to a toe injury before suiting up against the Lakers on Monday. The fourth-year center was unsurprisingly limited to under 20 minutes in his return, but he still put up decent production and went 5-for-5 from two-point range. Okongwu's output is somewhat hampered by his role as Clint Capela's backup, though he still deserves a roster spot in most fantasy leagues. His appeal would grow dramatically if he were to move into the starting unit at any point, as evidenced by his averages of 16.0 points, 8.4 rebounds and 1.8 blocks while making five straight starts prior to the injury absence.
-
Luke Kornet BOS C
Celtics' Luke Kornet: Plays his part
33m agoKornet registered four points (2-4 FG), 10 rebounds, three blocks and two steals over 28 minutes during Monday's 119-94 win over the Pistons.
In addition to strong rim protection and defensive playmaking, Kornet racked up six offensive rebounds, all of which came in the first half. Among all players with at least 200 rebounds this season, Kornet's 14.1 percent offensive rebounding rate is the seventh best mark in the league.
-
LeBron James LAL SF
Lakers' LeBron James: Nears triple-double in 29 minutes
35m agoJames accumulated 25 points (10-14 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 3-3 FT), seven rebounds and 10 assists over 29 minutes during Monday's 136-105 victory over Atlanta.
The Lakers' ability to put the game away by the end of the third quarter allowed James to rest a bit, as the 29 minutes he logged marked his lowest total since Jan. 11. The decreased time on the court didn't affect the future Hall of Famer's production, however, as he posted his fourth double-double across his past six games and finished just three boards shy of a triple-double. James has shown no signs of slowing down late in his age-39 season, as he's scored at least 25 points and notched at least eight assists in 10 of his 12 games since the All-Star break.
-
Jaylen Brown BOS SF
Celtics' Jaylen Brown: Carves up Detroit
39m agoBrown amassed 31 points (11-20 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 6-8 FT), seven rebounds, three assists and one steal over 30 minutes during Monday's 119-94 win over the Pistons.
Brown showcased effective multi-level scoring Monday, and his usage has been off the charts in his last five appearances, yielding 32.6 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.6 steals while connecting on 52.5 percent of a staggering 24.4 shots per game. On the season, Brown ranks in the 72nd percentile among all players by generating 1.058 points per possession.
-
Brian Dumoulin SEA D
Kraken's Brian Dumoulin: Garners assist
12m agoDumoulin notched an assist in Monday's 6-2 loss to the Sabres.
Dumoulin snapped a 10-game point drought with his helper on Jordan Eberle's first-period tally. The 32-year-old Dumoulin has filled in on the top pairing while Vince Dunn (upper body) is out of the lineup. Dumoulin has 13 points, 55 shots on net, 61 hits, 66 blocked shots and a plus-4 rating over 65 appearances, doing little to earn fantasy interest in most formats.
-
Justin Schultz SEA D
Kraken's Justin Schultz: Records power-play helper
14m agoSchultz notched a power-play assist and went minus-3 in Monday's 6-2 loss to the Sabres.
Schultz has two points over eight games in March, matching his production from seven outings in February. The 33-year-old defenseman has seen steady power-play time this month while Vince Dunn (upper body) is sidelined. Schultz has 20 points (six on the power play), 78 shots on net, 58 blocked shots and a minus-18 rating over 57 appearances this season, playing mainly in a third-pairing role.
-
Eeli Tolvanen SEA RW
Kraken's Eeli Tolvanen: Dishes two assists
16m agoTolvanen logged a pair of assists, two hits and four PIM in Monday's 6-2 loss to the Sabres.
Tolvanen set up both of the Kraken's goals in this contest after getting shuffled up to the top line amid significant changes by head coach Dave Hakstol. The 24-year-old Tolvanen had produced just four points over his previous 16 contests. He's at 36 points (nine on the power play), 137 shots on net, 171 hits, 67 blocked shots and a minus-10 rating through 67 appearances.
-
Matty Beniers SEA C
Kraken's Matty Beniers: Capitalizes on fortunate bounce
20m agoBeniers scored a power-play goal on two shots and added three hits in Monday's 6-2 loss to the Sabres.
A shot deflected off multiple players, including Beniers, before the puck landed on the doorstep of the goal. Beniers was the first to get to it, tapping it in over a defender's stick. The 21-year-old has four points over his last seven outings and is up to 10 goals, 28 points (eight on the power play), 111 shots on net and a minus-7 rating through 63 contests overall.
-
Jordan Eberle SEA RW
Kraken's Jordan Eberle: Pots goal in loss
22m agoEberle scored a goal on four shots in Monday's 6-2 loss to the Sabres.
This was Eberle's first goal in five games since he signed a two-year contract extension March 8. The winger had gone eight contests without a goal before scoring in the first minute Monday. He's up to 16 tallies, 39 points, 147 shots on net and a plus-7 rating through 64 appearances this season, well off the pace that saw him put up 63 points a year ago.
-
Philipp Grubauer SEA G
Kraken's Philipp Grubauer: Makes relief appearance
24m agoGrubauer stopped 23 of 26 shots in relief of Joey Daccord in Monday's 6-2 loss to the Sabres.
Daccord was pulled early in the first period after allowing three goals on four shots. Grubauer was able to steady things for a while, but the Kraken's offense ultimately didn't give him enough support to turn the game around. The loss belongs to Daccord, so Grubauer stays at 10-11-2 on the year with a 2.87 GAA and an .899 save percentage through 27 appearances. With an upcoming road back-to-back in Vegas on Thursday and in Arizona on Friday, both Grubauer and Daccord should get a chance to start soon.
