Exclusive Dr. Roto—March 28, 2016
Dr. Roto’s Must-Have Player!
Whether your league uses one catcher or two, I am not leaving any draft without Welington Castillo. Let others take Buster Posey in Round 2 and yet others overpay for Kyle Schwarber ($27 at Tout); I will take Castillo and get better value for my money.
Everyone knows how good Coors Field for power hitters, but I think Chase Field is pretty close. With the lineup around him, Castillo should easily get a chance to hit 20-25 HR in that small park.
Ever heard of Chris Herrmann and Tuffy Gosewisch? Who are those guys? Those are Castillo’s pathetic backups which means he will not be in a platoon and should get at least 480-500 at-bats this season.
Oh, and have you checked out his Spring Training numbers this year? He is hitting .433 with 3 HR and 16 RBIs. I would say he shouldn’t leave his best hitting in Arizona—but he plays his spring ball in ARIZONA!
In an auction, I will gladly pay $10-13 for Castillo, especially in two-catcher leagues. In a draft, I will look his way right after the first four or five guys are off the board.
Let’s lock Welington Castillo in, Visionary Style!
