Josiah Deguara GB TE
Jaguars' Josiah Deguara: Inking with Jacksonville
1h agoThe Jaguars are slated to sign Deguara to a one-year contract, Jordan Schultz of BleacherReport.com reports.
Deguara spent the last four seasons handling a depth role in Green Bay, where he was drafted in the third round back in 2020. His versatility both as a blocker and on special teams will boost his chances of earning playing time behind Evan Engram, but Deguara peaked with a 25-245-2 receiving line in 2021 and doesn't appear to have much fantasy potential.

J.K. Dobbins BAL RB
J.K. Dobbins: Lines up AFC West visit
3h agoDobbins (Achilles) is visiting the Chargers on Thursday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Dobbins, who was recently medically cleared for football activities, is coming off a left Achilles tear after previously missing all of 2021 and about half of the 2022 season due to a torn ACL and proceeding issues. That medical history undercuts otherwise impressive career numbers for Dobbins, who has averaged 5.8 yards per carry and scored 13 touchdowns since entering the NFL in 2020 as a second-round pick by the Ravens, but only suited up for 24 games in that span. Reuniting with offensive coordinator Greg Roman could make the most sense as a landing spot for Dobbins, but it's possible he doesn't garner more interest than a potential prove-it deal. The Chargers signed Gus Edwards,a former Baltimore backfield mate of Dobbins, early in free agency.

Derek Stingley Jr. HOU CB
Texans' Derek Stingley: Slow start, strong finish
3h agoStingley recorded 39 tackles, 13 passes defensed and five interceptions over 11 regular-season games in 2023.
Stingley, a second-year cornerback and 2022 first-round draft pick, suffered a Week 3 hamstring that created issues for the defense early on, but upon his return Week 10, Stingley made an impact. He had interceptions in three straight games, including a Week 13 win over the Broncos. Stingley will return as Houston's top cornerback in 2024.

DeAndre Houston-Carson HOU DB
DeAndre Houston-Carson: Enters free agency
3h agoHouston-Carson recorded 41 tackles, five passes defensed, two interceptions and one fumble recovery over 13 regular-season games in 2023.
Houston-Carson started the season in Baltimore then finished up in Houston, where he played a career-high 447 snaps on defense. Injuries on the back end led to Houston-Carson playing a big role for the Texans, including two pivotal plays in a Week 10 win over the Bengals. He entered unrestricted free agency during the offseason.
-
Jimmie Ward HOU SAF
Texans' Jimmie Ward: Injury-marred 2023
3h agoWard (quadriceps) recorded 50 tackles, three passes defensed, one interception and one forced fumble over 10 games in 2023.
Ward, a team captain, was beset by injuries all season long. He missed time due to hip, hamstring and shoulder injuries before a quadricep ended his season in December. In between the setbacks, Ward played well, and his one interception was an end-zone pick that sealed a win over Denver. Houston went 6-4 in games he played and could use his stabilizing presence on the back end. Ward turns 33 in July and will be entering his 11th season.

Henry To'oTo'o HOU LB
Texans' Henry To'oTo'o: Contributes in rookie season
3h agoTo'oTo'o recorded 61 tackles, two passes defensed, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery over 15 regular-season games in 2023.
To'oTo'o, a fifth-round draft pick out of Alabama, started from Week 2 to Week 7 and played in both of Houston's playoff games during his rookie season. The Texans lost two linebackers to free agency -- Blake Cashman and Denzel Perryman -- which leaves To'oTo'o as a projected starter for 2024. However, Houston is expected to address the position during the offseason.

Robert Stephenson LAA RP
Angels' Robert Stephenson: IL move made official
5m agoThe Angels placed Stephenson on the 15-day injured list Thursday, retroactive to March 25, with right shoulder soreness, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
The 31-year-old recently resumed throwing but there remains no timetable for his return. Once healthy, Stephenson is poised to serve in a setup role ahead of closer Carlos Estevez.
-
Michael Stefanic LAA 2B
Angels' Michael Stefanic: Lands on 10-day IL
7m agoThe Angels placed Stefanic on the 10-day injured list Thursday, retroactive to March 25, with a left quad strain, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
Stefanic initially injured the quad in late February and suffered a setback last week. It's not clear at this point how long the utility infielder might be sidelined.
-
Zak Kent TEX SP
Guardians' Zak Kent: Dealt to Cleveland
9m agoThe Guardians acquired Kent from the Rangers on Thursday in exchange for international bonus pool money.
Kent was one of two pitchers Cleveland traded for in advance of Opening Day, with Peter Strzelecki also coming aboard in a deal with Arizona. Though both new arrivals will claim spots on the 40-man roster, neither will join the team for Thursday's season opener in Oakland and will instead be ticketed Triple-A Columbus. The 26-year-old Kent, who has yet to make his MLB debut, posted a 3.97 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 34:10 K:BB in 10 starts at Triple-A Round Rock in 2023, but it's unclear whether or not the Guardians intend to keep him on a starter's development track or move him to the bullpen.

Maikel Garcia KC 3B
Royals' Maikel Garcia: Batting leadoff on Opening Day
10m agoGarcia is starting at third base and batting leadoff for the Royals in Thursday's opener against the Twins.
Garcia had a great spring in posting a .984 OPS and opens the years as the Royals' leadoff man, as expected. The young infielder has some breakout potential this season from the top of the batting order, boasting good wheels and some sneaky pop.
-
Manuel Margot MIN CF
Twins' Manuel Margot: In lineup at designated hitter
22m agoMargot is starting at designated hitter and batting ninth for the Twins in Thursday's opener versus the Royals.
The Twins got Margot to play against left-handed pitching, so it's no surprise he's in there against southpaw Cole Ragans, though it's a bit of a surprise he's at DH and not playing the outfield. Margot had to exit hit final exhibition game after being hit on the hand by a pitch, but he's fine.
-
Jordan Romano TOR RP
Blue Jays' Jordan Romano: Likely facing minimum IL stint
26m agoRomano (elbow) isn't expected to need much time to build back up once he's cleared to start throwing off a mound again, and Blue Jays general manager Ross Atkins believes the right-hander will only need a minimum stay on the injured list, Gregor Chisholm of the Toronto Star reports.
The Toronto closer was given an anti-inflammatory injection early last week after an MRI on his elbow showed no structural issues. A backdated placement on the IL for Romano and a minimum 15-day stay could have him back in the Jays bullpen as early as April 9 against the Mariners. In the right-hander's absence, Yimi Garcia, Chad Green and Tim Mayza are all candidates to handle save chances.

Toumani Camara POR SF
Trail Blazers' Toumani Camara: Efficient in loss to Atlanta
2m agoCamara supplied 17 points (7-9 FG, 3-4 3Pt), four rebounds, two assists and one steal over 30 minutes during Wednesday's 120-106 loss to Atlanta.
Even though Dalano Banton stole the show for the Blazers with his 31-point effort, Camara was highly efficient in the frontcourt, missing just two of his nine shots and scoring in double digits for the fourth consecutive game. He's averaging 14.0 points while shooting 55 percent from the field in that stretch. Expect Camara to continue seeing heavy minutes in the final weeks of the regular season as Portland's starting power forward.
-
Dalano Banton POR PG
Trail Blazers' Dalano Banton: Scores season-high 31 points
10m agoBanton registered 31 points (13-23 FG, 5-11 3Pt), five rebounds, nine assists and two steals across 37 minutes during Wednesday's 120-106 loss to the Hawks.
Banton posted his best scoring mark of the campaign, and he also extended his impressive stretch of games with double-digit points to nine despite coming off the bench in the last six. Banton is averaging 18.8 points per game in that nine-game stretch, and he'll aim to keep that run alive when facing the Heat on Friday.

Lindy Waters III OKC SG
Thunder's Lindy Waters: Sent back to G League
20m agoThe Thunder assigned Waters to the G League's Oklahoma City Blue, Clemente Almanza of USA Today reports.
Waters continues to bounce back and forth between the NBA and G League. However, he should see increased playing time with the Blue.
-
Mark Williams CHA C
Hornets' Mark Williams: Unlikely to play again in 2023-24
21m agoThe Hornets haven't officially shut Williams (back) down for the season, but the second-year center isn't expected to play again during the 2023-24 campaign, Roderick Boone of The Charlotte Observer reports.
Updates on Williams' status have been few and far between since he made his last appearance Dec. 8 before being shut down with what the Hornets initially listed as a lower back contusion. The Hornets' latest injury report has referred to his ongoing absence being the result of "low back injury recovery," and the team hasn't provided any concrete information regarding what kind of activity Williams is doing as part of his rehab program. Though the Hornets haven't officially made an announcement on shutting Williams down for the season like they have with LaMelo Ball (ankle), Cody Martin (ankle) and Seth Curry (ankle) within the past two days, fantasy managers in redraft leagues who have been holding Williams amid his prolonged absence can feel comfortable cutting bait at this point. Nick Richards has since taken over as the Hornets' starting center, with Grant Williams and Aleksej Pokusevski serving as Richards' primary backup options.

Xavier Tillman BOS C
Celtics' Xavier Tillman: Participates in shootaround
26m agoTillman (knee) was active in shootaround ahead of Thursday's game versus the Hawks, Bobby Manning of CelticsBlog reports.
Tillman is officially listed as questionable for Thursday's contest due to left knee inflammation. However, Tillman's participation in shootaround is a good sign of his availability against Atlanta.
-
Jrue Holiday BOS PG
Celtics' Jrue Holiday: Active during shootaround
30m agoHoliday (shoulder) is officially listed as questionable for Thursday's game against the Hawks, but he was active during Boston's morning shootaround.
Holiday has missed five straight contests due to a right shoulder sprain but is nearing a return to game action. If he's cleared, Holiday should start, as he hasn't come off the bench yet as a Celtic, but may face some limitations given his lengthy absence.
-
Thomas Chabot OTT D
Senators' Thomas Chabot: Not playing Thursday
1m agoChabot (undisclosed) will not be in the lineup Thursday versus Chicago, according to Ian Mendes of The Athletic.
Chabot has been dealing with a nagging issue for a couple of weeks, according to coach Jacques Martin. Chabot had an assist Wednesday in a 6-2 win over Buffalo, giving the defenseman 28 points in 44 games. He will be replaced on the blue line by Tyler Kleven, while Ridly Greig could see some power-play time on the second unit in place of Chabot.
-
Connor Hellebuyck WPG G
Jets' Connor Hellebuyck: Between pipes Thursday
2m agoHellebucyk will tend the twine for Thursday's home clash with the Golden Knights, Mitchell Clinton of the Jets' official site reports.
Hellebuyck is mired in a three-game losing streak during which he posted a 4.78 GAA and .862 save percentage. The netminder had only one other three-game slump this season, so he will no doubt be hoping to avoid his first four-game losing stretch of the year.
-
Jordan Binnington STL G
Blues' Jordan Binnington: Slated to start Thursday
13m agoBinnington is expected to guard the cage at home versus the Flames on Thursday, Matthew DeFranks of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Binnington has suffered just one regulation loss in his last five outings, going 3-1-1 with a 2.55 GAA and .923 save percentage. The 30-year-old netminder should continue to see the majority of the workload down the stretch, though if the Blues find themselves outside of the playoff hunt, they could turn to Joel Hofer a little more.
-
Samuel Ersson PHI G
Flyers' Samuel Ersson: Starting Thursday
21m agoErsson will patrol the visiting crease in Montreal on Thursday.
Ersson's play has been spotty over the last seven games, as he is 3-2-2 with a 4.16 GAA and an .861 save percentage. He is 21-14-7 with three shutouts this season. Ersson picked up the win in his only appearance this season versus the Canadiens, giving up two goals on 19 shots in a 3-2 shootout victory.
-
Morgan Rielly TOR D
Maple Leafs' Morgan Rielly: Won't play Thursday
25m agoRielly (upper body) will not be available against Washington on Thursday, David Alter of The Hockey News reports.
Rielly will be shelved for his second consecutive contest due to his upper-body injury, though he continues to be classified as day-to-day. Conor Timmins should continue to see opportunities with the No. 2 power-play unit while Rielly and Joel Edmundson (undisclosed) are sidelined.
-
Auston Matthews TOR C
Maple Leafs' Auston Matthews: Game-time decision Thursday
28m agoMatthews missed morning practice with an illness, according to Mark Masters of TSN, and will be a game-time decision Thursday versus Washington.
Matthews is on a five-game point streak in which he has four goals and 11 points. He leads the NHL with 59 goals and has 93 points in 70 games this season. Matthews had a huge game versus Washington on March 20, scoring a pair of goals and adding three assists. Check ahead of game-time for Matthews' status.
