Kaiir Elam BUF CB
Bills' Kaiir Elam: Ready for next step?
4h agoElam, who missed most of the 2023 regular season due to an ankle injury and coaching decisions, finished with 14 total tackles over three regular-season games.
Elam did appear in both of the Bills' playoff games, though he was limited to special teams in the divisional-round loss to the Chiefs. So far in his young career, Elam's output in two NFL seasons hasn't come close to matching his first-round status, but the Bills had to let several secondary members move on this season and will likely spend one of their high picks on receiver, so Elam may be earmarked for a more prominent role in 2024 even if he's not a starter just yet. Some comments from team brass in the offseason have indicated the Bills are hopeful Elam is ready to make that jump in performance.

Cody Davis NE DB
Cody Davis: Hangs up cleats
10h agoDavis announced his retirement from the NFL on Thursday, Chris Mason of Masslive.com reports.
Davis played 11 NFL seasons, spending five years with the Rams, two with the Jaguars and the final four of his career with the Patriots. The 34-year-old primarily played on special teams and hadn't played a defensive snap since 2020. He'll finish his career with 118 combined tackles, two interceptions and three fumbles recovered.

Olamide Zaccheaus PHI WR
Commanders' Olamide Zaccheaus: Moving on to Washington
11h agoZaccheaus has agreed to a deal with the Commanders, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
In his only campaign with the Eagles, Zaccheaus (who caught 40 passes with the Falcons in 2022) finished the 2023 regular season with 10 catches for 164 yards and two TDs in 17 games. With the Commanders, the 26-year-old will add depth to a wideout corps that is currently led by Terry McLaurin and Jahan Dotson. In that context, Zaccheaus has some bounce-back potential if he can carve out steady snaps in 2024 behind the team's top duo.

DeShawn Williams BUF DE
Bills' DeShawn Williams: Lands in Buffalo
13h agoThe Bills signed Williams to a one-year contract Thursday, Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.com reports.
Williams suited up for 16 regular-season games with the Panthers last season, a span in which he racked up 33 tackles (13 solo) and one sack. He stands to bolster Buffalo's defensive line as a depth piece for the 2024 season.

Jayden Daniels 2005 QB
Jayden Daniels: Throws at LSU Pro Day
14h agoDaniels, who opted to not throw at the NFL Scouting Combine, did so at LSU's Pro Day on Wednesday, Eric Edholm of NFL.com reports.
Per the report, Daniels, who measured in at 6-foot-3⅝, 210 pounds, was slated to spend time afterward with the Patriots, Commanders, Giants, Vikings, Broncos and Raiders. As next month's draft approaches, the 2023 Heisman Trophy winner is viewed as one of the top options at the QB position along with USC's Caleb Williams, North Carolina's Drake Maye and Michigan's J.J. McCarthy. While Williams is expected to be selected first overall, where Daniels lands remains to be seen, though what is clear is that the top four signal-callers figure to come off the board quickly, in any case.

Josiah Deguara JAC TE
Jaguars' Josiah Deguara: Inking with Jacksonville
16h agoThe Jaguars are slated to sign Deguara to a one-year contract, Jordan Schultz of BleacherReport.com reports.
Deguara spent the last four seasons handling a depth role in Green Bay, where he was drafted in the third round back in 2020. His versatility both as a blocker and on special teams will boost his chances of earning playing time behind Evan Engram, but Deguara peaked with a 25-245-2 receiving line in 2021 and doesn't appear to have much fantasy potential.

Tyler O'Neill BOS LF
Red Sox's Tyler O'Neill: Begins Boston tenure with big game
3m agoO'Neill went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk, a stolen base and two total runs in Thursday's 6-4 Opening Day victory against the Mariners.
After six seasons with St. Louis, O'Neill started in right field and batted fifth in his Red Sox debut. The 28-year-old displayed both his power and his speed for his new team, swiping second base following a walk in the second inning and capping the scoring in the contest with an eighth-inning solo shot. O'Neill certainly has the skill set to be an impactful fantasy asset, but his health is a question mark -- over his final two seasons with the Cardinals, he played in just 168 of a possible 324 regular-season games.
-
Rafael Devers BOS 3B
Red Sox's Rafael Devers: Swats Opening Day homer
8m agoDevers went 2-for-5 with a home run, a double and two total RBI in Thursday's 6-4 victory versus Seattle.
Devers put Boston's first runs of the season on the board in the third inning with his 400-foot, two-run homer off Mariners ace Luis Castillo. The third baseman is off to a strong start to the campaign as he seeks to build upon the 33-homer, 100-RBI performance he posted last year. Devers is one of the most reliable third basemen in fantasy after averaging 33 long balls, 100 RBI and 150 games played over the past three campaigns.

Luis Castillo SEA SP
Mariners' Luis Castillo: Begins season with loss
14m agoCastillo (0-1) took the loss against Boston on Thursday, allowing four runs on six hits and two walks while striking out five batters over five innings.
Castillo struck out two batters in a 1-2-3 first inning, but he didn't record any clean frames thereafter. The right-hander was stung by Rafael Devers' two-run homer in the third and followed by giving up a run in each of the next two frames. On a positive note, Castillo worked up to 91 pitches in his season debut and averaged 95.8 mph on his fastball, so he seems to be in good form despite the rough outing. He'll look to bounce back next week, as he is projected to make his next start at home against Cleveland.
-
Michael Kopech CHW SP
White Sox's Michael Kopech: First appearance comes in loss
28m agoKopech allowed one hit and one walk while also hitting a batter and striking out one across a scoreless inning in Thursday's loss to the Tigers.
Kopech entered the game in the eighth inning with the White Sox down by a run. He loaded the bases with two outs, but he managed to get Matt Vierling to strike out swinging to end the threat. While it was a high-leverage situation, Kopech's usage in the loss suggests that he may not be the top candidate for saves in a murky Chicago bullpen.
-
Mike Trout LAA CF
Angels' Mike Trout: Pops first homer
33m agoTrout went 1-for-3 with a solo home run Thursday against the Orioles.
Trout hit third in the Angels' Opening Day lineup and wasted no time parking his mark on the game by taking Corbin Burnes deep in his first at-bat. He was ultimately pulled from the game early with the Angels down big, but there is no injury issue. Trout has failed to reach 500 plate appearances in each of the last three full seasons, but he should remain an elite producer so long as he can stay on the field.
-
Kenley Jansen BOS RP
Red Sox's Kenley Jansen: Records Opening Day save
42m agoJansen earned a save against the Mariners on Thursday, issuing one walk and striking out two batters in a scoreless inning.
Jansen entered in the ninth inning with Boston holding a two-run lead and worked around a leadoff walk to close out the victory. The veteran closer missed most of spring training due to separate lat and back injuries, but that didn't prevent him from getting the call on Opening Day. Jansen's recent campaigns haven't been quite as dominant as his peak years with the Dodgers, but he's recorded 70 saves over the past two seasons and is locked in as Boston's closer as he pushes toward becoming the fourth pitcher in MLB history to reach 450 career saves.
-
De'Andre Hunter ATL SF
Hawks' De'Andre Hunter: Solid output in starting role
3h agoHunter finished Thursday's 123-122 overtime victory over Boston with 21 points (8-16 FG, 5-9 3Pt, 0-3 FT), 13 rebounds and one assist across 40 minutes.
Hunter has been starting in recent days and delivered another strong showing, as he's taking advantage of the fact that Jalen Johnson (ankle) and Saddiq Bey (knee) are out, with the latter not returning until next season. Hunter has reached the 20-point mark in three of his last five starts and in five of his previous eight appearances overall.
-
Bogdan Bogdanovic ATL SG
Hawks' Bogdan Bogdanovic: Puts up 22 points in win Thursday
3h agoBogdanovic closed with 24 points (9-19 FG, 2-8 3Pt, 4-4 FT), seven rebounds, five assists and one steal across 43 minutes during Thursday's 123-122 overtime win over Boston.
Bogdanovic's final stat line seems nice, but he struggled from deep once again, and he's gone 4-for-15 from three-point range over his last two games. He's talented enough to bounce back sooner rather than later, though, and he's scoring enough to remain viable in fantasy with most leagues in the playoffs.
-
Dejounte Murray ATL PG
Hawks' Dejounte Murray: Explodes for career-high 44 points
4h agoMurray racked up 44 points (18-44 FG, 6-19 3Pt, 2-2 FT), seven rebounds, seven assists, one block and two steals in 47 minutes during Thursday's 123-122 overtime victory over the Celtics.
Murray had one of the best games of his career on a night when the Hawks desperately needed him. He delivered by posting a career-best scoring output, and he capped it off by hitting the game-winning shot with less than a second left in overtime. Murray continues to play at an extremely high level in the absence of Trae Young (finger), and he's experiencing quite an uptick as a scorer, recording 28 or more points in four of his last five appearances.
-
Kristaps Porzingis BOS C
Celtics' Kristaps Porzingis: Stuffs stat sheet in loss to Hawks
4h agoPorzingis notched 20 points (8-20 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 2-3 FT), seven rebounds, two assists, three blocks and one steal in 41 minutes during Thursday's 123-122 overtime loss to the Hawks.
Porzingis didn't have his best shooting performance and needed 20 shots to score 20 points, but he still found a way to salvage his fantasy stat line due to his contributions in peripheral categories, particularly as a rebounder and defensive anchor down low. Porzingis has reached the 20-point mark in seven of his 12 appearances since the All-Star break, and while he holds a semi-secondary role on offense behind Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, he remains extremely valuable in fantasy due to his two-way ability and stat-filling capacity.
-
Jayson Tatum BOS PF
Celtics' Jayson Tatum: Scores 31 points in loss to ATL
4h agoTatum had 31 points (9-22 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 11-13 FT), 13 rebounds and six assists across 45 minutes during Thursday's 123-122 overtime loss to the Hawks.
For the second time in less than 10 days, Tatum carried the Celtics against the Hawks, but his efforts were not enough. Tatum has been playing at a very high level all season long, and he is on a scoring tear of late, reaching the 30-point mark in four of his last five contests.
-
Derrick White BOS SG
Celtics' Derrick White: Goes for 22 points in upset loss
4h agoWhite produced 22 points (8-11 FG, 5-6 3Pt, 1-1 FT), seven rebounds, five assists and one steal in 41 minutes during Thursday's 123-122 overtime loss to the Hawks.
White returned from a one-game absence and continues to play at an extremely high level in what has been a career-best season for him. He's now scored at least 17 points in each of his last five outings, topping the 20-point mark three times in that stretch. Even though he holds a secondary role in an offense led by Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, White remains an absolute must-start player in fantasy since he plays a solid two-way role for one of the best teams in the league while also shooting the ball at a very efficient clip from beyond the arc.

Philipp Grubauer SEA G
Kraken's Philipp Grubauer: Overcomes stumble for win
3m agoGrubauer stopped 21 of 23 shots in Thursday's 4-2 win over the Ducks.
Grubauer overcame giving up a pair of shorthanded goals on the same Kraken power play early in the third period. That was all the Ducks put on the board in the contest. Grubauer had given up 17 goals over his previous five outings, going 0-3-1 in that span. The 32-year-old is now at 11-13-2 with a 2.93 GAA and an .897 save percentage through 30 appearances. It appears the Kraken have started to alternate goalies, so it's likely Joey Daccord will get a tough home start versus the Stars on Saturday before Grubauer draws in for a road start in San Jose on Monday.

Tyson Barrie NSH D
Predators' Tyson Barrie: Garners helper
6m agoBarrie notched an assist, two shots on goal and a minus-3 rating in Thursday's 8-4 loss to the Coyotes.
Barrie has been in the lineup for six straight games as the Predators navigate multiple injuries on defense. He has three assists in that span, as well as eight blocked shots and 13 shots on net. The 32-year-old has been scratched more often than not over the last three months. He's at 15 points, 65 shots on net, 47 blocked shots and a minus-10 rating through 41 appearances.
-
Colton Sissons NSH C
Predators' Colton Sissons: Earns 200th career point
8m agoSissons notched an assist, two shots on goal and two hits in Thursday's 8-4 loss to the Coyotes.
Sissons helped out on the first of Jason Zucker's two goals in the first period. The helper was Sissons' 200th career point, a milestone he reached in his 610th appearance. He has three assists over his last seven games, giving him 35 points, 119 shots on net, 129 hits and a minus-2 rating through 73 contests overall.
-
Cody Glass NSH C
Predators' Cody Glass: Gathers pair of assists
10m agoGlass recorded two assists, three shots on goal and two hits in Thursday's 8-4 loss to the Coyotes.
Glass had been a healthy scratch over the last eight games. He made a quick impact in his return to the lineup, setting up both of Jason Zucker's first-period tallies. The 24-year-old Glass has 12 points, 74 shots on net, 30 hits and a minus-11 rating through 37 appearances this season. It's unclear if Thursday's effort will be enough to secure him more playing time going forward.
-
Roman Josi NSH D
Predators' Roman Josi: Distributes three helpers
21m agoJosi posted three assists, three blocked shots and a minus-3 rating in Thursday's 8-4 loss to the Coyotes.
Two of Josi's helpers came on the power play. The defenseman has four goals and 10 assists during his eight-game point streak. Josi continues to be a huge scoring threat from the blue line with 19 goals, 57 helpers, 236 shots on net, 129 blocked shots and a plus-16 rating over 73 appearances. He sits third in scoring among NHL defensemen, trailing only Quinn Hughes (81 points) and Cale Makar (78 points).
-
Gustav Nyquist NSH C
Predators' Gustav Nyquist: Strikes on power play
25m agoNyquist scored a power-play goal on six shots and went minus-5 in Thursday's 8-4 loss to the Coyotes.
Nyquist has four goals and six assists during his seven-game point streak, but the tally was about the only good thing about his performance Thursday. The 34-year-old winger is up to 66 points (20 on the power play), 141 shots on net and a plus-9 rating through 73 contests overall. Nyquist remains on the top line and first power-play unit, riding his chemistry with Filip Forsberg to a career year.
