41m agoGM Chris Ballard noted Friday that Ogletree is off the NFL's Commissioner Exempt List, Stephen Holder of ESPN.com reports.
Per the report, Ogletree -- whose charges stemming from his arrest in December were dismissed last month -- is back with the Colts during offseason workouts. Prior to being placed on the Commissioner Exempt List on Dec. 30, Ogletree caught nine of his 21 targets for 147 yards and two TDs in 12 regular-season games with Indianapolis.

J.K. Dobbins BAL RBChargers' J.K. Dobbins: Should be ready for training camp
1h agoDobbins (Achilles), who agreed to terms with the Chargers on Thursday, "should be" ready for training camp according to GM Joe Hortiz, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
Tom Pelissero of NFL Network relayed last month that Dobbins -- who suffered a torn Achilles in Baltimore's regular-season opener in 2023 -- has been cleared for football activities, with previous reports having noted that the running back had resumed running this offseason. Based on the assessment of Hortiz on Thursday, Dobbins is still working his way back from his injury, but if the 2020 second-rounder is able to return to form, he and Gus Edwards (who also came over from the Ravens in free agency) have a chance to provide an effective 1-2 punch in the Chargers' backfield in 2024 under the guidance of offensive coordinator Greg Roman, who both players worked with in Baltimore.

Kerby Joseph DET DBLions' Kerby Joseph: Should be 100 percent for camp
3h agoJoseph (hip) -- who won't take part in practices this spring -- expects to be fully healthy by the start of training camp, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Joseph underwent an offseason procedure to address a hip injury that originally occurred in Week 2 of the 2023 campaign. Though he returned to play after missing two contests, en route to logging 82 tackles and four picks in 15 regular-season outings overall, the issue evidently lingered to the point that it required attention following the postseason. Once he's back to 100 percent, Joseph will reprise his starting free safety role with the Lions.

D.J. Chark CAR WRDJ Chark: Visits with Chargers
4h agoChark visited the Chargers on Thursday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Few teams are more in need of wide receivers, with the Chargers having released Mike Williams and traded Keenan Allen earlier this offseason. Chark has never come close to matching his 1,008-yard, eight-TD performance in 2019 for Jacksonville, but he did top 500 yards both of the past two seasons in Detroit and Carolina, starting 21 of 26 games along the way. Chark will turn 28 in September and doesn't figure to command a large contract.

Courtland Sutton DEN WRBroncos' Courtland Sutton: No concern about OTA absence
4h agoBroncos GM George Paton suggested Thursday that he isn't worried about Sutton's absence from voluntary offseason workouts, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports. "It's 100 percent voluntary," Paton said. "It's the first week of the offseason program. I've talked to Courtland. He's in a good place, and I'll just leave it at that."
Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reported Tuesday that Sutton's absence from voluntary OTAs is related to wanting a new contract. The wideout has two years and approximately $27.6 million remaining on his current deal, with only $2 million of that guaranteed. It's not the type of situation with especially high risk for a holdout, and Sutton looks to be especially important for Denver's offense after the team traded WR Jerry Jeudy to Cleveland in the offseason. It's not yet clear who will start across from Sutton at wide receiver, nor is it clear who will get the nod under center Week 1. The Broncos still have a lot to work out this spring and summer, with the upcoming NFL Draft presumably being a piece of that puzzle.

Lions' Kerby Joseph: Out until training camp
17h agoJoseph (hip) will not be cleared to practice until training camp, Kyle Meinke of MLive.com reports.
The report notes that Joseph is bouncing back from an offseason procedure to address a hip injury that he sustained in Week 2 of the 2023 season. Assuming he returns to health in time to begin the coming campaign, Joseph figures to serve as Detroit's starting free safety and is likely to rack up tackles and pass breakups in that role.

42m agoBrebbia (calf) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Charlotte on Friday, LaMond Pope of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Brebbia is eligible for activation from the 15-day injured list on Sunday, and it would appear he could be back at that time if he can get through Friday's rehab appearance without any hiccups. The veteran reliever has been out the last two weeks with a right calf strain, which was an apparent aggravation of an injury he initially suffered back in February.

1h agoSteele (hamstring) will throw a live batting practice session Sunday, Tony Andracki of Marquee Sports Network reports.
If Steele gets through the live BP with no issues, he could be cleared to begin a rehab assignment. The left-hander is working his way back from a left hamstring strain which he suffered back on Opening Day. It's not clear at this point how many rehab starts he might be asked to make before rejoining the Cubs' rotation.

Fresh off the injured list, the right-handed hitting Wisdom will be thrown right into the mix against left-hander A.J. Puk. Most of the 32-year-old's playing time figures to come against southpaws. Wisdom has a career .813 OPS versus lefties.

2h agoMunoz will be recalled from Triple-A Jacksonville by the Marlins to start one of the games in Saturday's doubleheader versus the Cubs, Isaac Azout of SBNation.com reports.
It will be the major-league debut for Munoz, who was acquired via trade from the Pirates over the offseason. The 24-year-old has had a rough start to the season with Jacksonville, allowing 14 runs (13 earned) with a 7:12 K:BB over 10.2 frames. Munoz is not an advisable fantasy streamer.

22m agoCoach Jason Kidd said Friday that Lively (knee) is trending in the right direction and is on track to play in Sunday's Game 1 against the Clippers, Brad Townsend of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Lively missed the final eight regular-season games due to a right knee sprain but returned to full practices this week and has avoided a setback thus far. If available, the rookie will likely handle a backup role behind Daniel Gafford, but Lively has proven to be an excellent fit in Dallas and should still play around 20 minutes per game in the playoffs.

25m agoHardaway didn't practice Friday due to an illness, Brad Townsend of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Hardaway will join the Mavericks in Los Angeles ahead of Sunday's Game 1 versus the Clippers, but his status for that matchup won't be determined until Saturday afternoon. The sharpshooter scored in double figures only twice across eight regular-season appearances in April.

1h agoMelton (back) has been ruled out for Saturday's Game 1 against the Knicks, Ky Carlin of USA Today reports.
Melton was unable to participate in Friday's practice session and will miss the start of the 76ers' first-round series. However, coach Nick Nurse said Friday that the team isn't ready to rule Melton out for the entirety of the series, so he should be considered day-to-day for now. The 25-year-old has appeared in just five games since Jan. 12, so even if he's cleared to return at some point during the playoffs, it wouldn't be surprising to see him face a minutes restriction.

Caruso was initially believed to have a significant left ankle sprain, but he experienced reduced swelling Thursday. It appears increasingly likely that the 30-year-old will be available for Friday's win-or-go-home matchup, but the Bulls will likely continue to monitor him in the hours leading up to tipoff.

19h agoMatthews (hamstring) tallied zero points (0-2 FG, 0-2 3Pt) and one assist in 10 minutes Wednesday in the Hawks' 131-116 loss to the Bulls in the Eastern Conference Play-In Tournament.
Matthews missed the Hawks' final three games of the regular season with hamstring tightness, but he was able to make it back for what ended up being the team's lone postseason contest. The 37-year-old was an irregular member of the Atlanta rotation in 2023-24, appearing in 36 regular-season contests (three starts) while averaging 3.1 points, 1.5 rebounds, 0.7 three-pointers and 0.6 assists in 11.5 minutes while shooting 35.1 percent from the field. Matthews is scheduled for free agency this summer and could be headed for retirement.

20h agoLeonard (knee) is questionable for Sunday's Game 1 against the Mavericks, Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN.com reports.
The Clippers announced Thursday that Leonard received an injection in his left knee, and there's "cautious optimism" that he'll be ready for Sunday's matchup, per Shams Charania of The Athletic. While Leonard returned to practice Monday, he hasn't yet been cleared for 5-on-5 drills. Clippers president of basketball operations Lawrence Frank said Thursday that he isn't sure whether Leonard will need to participate in full-contact work before he's cleared to return to game action but added that the inflammation needs to continue to reduce. Lawrence said that he's hopeful the issue is trending in the right direction and that Leonard will play but also indicated that the 32-year-old's status remains up in the air.

6m agoBarron (lower body) will not play in Game 1 versus Colorado on Sunday, Ken Wiebe of The Winnipeg Free Press reports.
Coach Rick Bowness would not say who would replace Barron on the fourth line, but it is believed that either David Gustafsson or Cole Perfetti will be in the lineup. Barron had a career high 11 goals, as well as 11 assists and 122 hits in 80 games.

Erne went pointless in his last 11 outings, which no doubt factored into the decision to return him the the Condors for their playoff run. On the year, the 28-year-old forward played in just 24 NHL games while garnering a mere two points. Given his limited productivity, Erne shouldn't be expected to offer much in the way of offensive upside.

Philip Broberg EDM DOilers' Philip Broberg: Headed back to minors
15m agoBroberg was reassigned to AHL Bakersfield on Friday.
Broberg played in 12 games for the Oilers this season in which he generated two assists, four hits and six shots while averaging 11:37 of ice time. With the Oilers' blue line healthy, the 22-year-old Broberg will be better suited to help the Condors make a run in the Calder Cup playoffs. Having said that, if Edmonton needs a defenseman, Borberg figures to be atop the list of potential call-ups.

Vladislav Kolyachonok ARI DCoyotes' Vladislav Kolyachonok: Sent to minor-league affiliate
25m agoKolyachonok was reassigned to AHL Tucson on Friday.
Kolyachonok was excellent in limited action with the Coyotes this season, picking up a goal and three helpers while posting a plus-5 rating through five appearances. He'll likely feature on the top pairing for Tucson during the team's playoff run.

Tyler Motte TB CLightning's Tyler Motte: May not play Sunday
25m agoMotte (lower body) is questionable for Sunday's tilt in Florida, Gabby Shirley of Bally Sports Florida reports.
Motte missed the last three games of the regular season with the injury. He ended the season with six goals and nine points in 69 appearances. Look for Motte to play in a bottom-six role up front, once he returns to action.

Emil Bemstrom PIT CPenguins' Emil Bemstrom: Diagnosed with concussion
26m agoBemstrom suffered a concussion which sidelined him for the season finale against the Islanders on Wednesday, Seth Rorabaugh of Tribune-Review Sports reports.
Bemstrom will be a restricted free agent this offseason, so he should get the opportunity to spend a full season with Pittsburgh. In his 24 appearances this year, the 24-year-old center notched three goals and two assists while averaging a career-low 8:47 of ice time.
