Yahoo: Top 30 Drivers

Yahoo / Fantasy Live / Fox: Quick Picks

The Sprint Cup Series heads to Dover International Speedway this weekend, and a trip to "The Monster Mile" presents an interesting opportunity for fantasy owners in the Yahoo game.

The layout of the concrete oval is somewhat unique among the tracks on the schedule, and while there are plenty of big names that consistently run well at Dover, especially Jimmie Johnson, there are also some middle-tier drivers that have excelled at the track.

Loading up your lineup with big names in all three tiers is certainly an acceptable strategy, and it should pay off. However, using some alternative B-List options might be the better strategy. Remember, you are only allowed nine starts for each driver, so taking advantage of the weaker B-List drivers at their best tracks is a must.

As a general strategy, I recommend going with an elite A-List and C-List driver this weekend to anchor your lineup while going with some alternative options for your B-List picks. Yes, I expect Martin Truex Jr. and Carl Edwards to have strong runs, but I expect them to have plenty of addition strong runs throughout the year. The same cannot be said for some other B-List drivers, so strike while the iron is hot.

1. JIMMIE JOHNSON, #48 LOWE'S/KOBALT TOOLS, HENDRICK MOTORSPORTS [YAHOO CLASS A]

His numbers at Dover are almost unbelievable. Johnson has won three of the last five races at the track, and he has a series-best 10 wins here overall to go along with a 9.1 average finish. Over the last 10 races at Dover, he leads all drivers with four wins, seven top five finishes and 1,377 laps led.

2. KEVIN HARVICK, #4 BUSCH BEER/JIMMY JOHNS, STEWART-HAAS RACING [YAHOO CLASS A]

He finished second at Dover last spring, and he followed up the runner-up effort with a win in the fall event. Perhaps more impressively, Harvick has led 693 laps in four races at Dover since joining Stewart-Haas Racing, leading 355 of the 400 laps in his win here last October.

3. KYLE BUSCH, #18 MARS BRANDS/INTERSTATE BATTERIES, JOE GIBBS RACING [YAHOO CLASS A]

Fresh off his series-best third win of 2016, Busch will try to continue his impressive start to the season at Dover. He is a two-time winner at the track for his career, and since 2010, he has nine top 10s in 12 starts. During the same stretch, Busch has seven finishes of sixth or better, including a second-place run last fall.

4. CARL EDWARDS, #19 ARRIS/STANLEY, JOE GIBBS RACING[YAHOO CLASS B]

Edwards has been solid throughout the 2016 season, and there is no reason to expect that to change this weekend at Dover. After all, he is a former winner here, and his 10.8 average finish ranks third among active drivers.

5. MATT KENSETH, #20 DOLLLAR GENERAL/DEWALT, JOE GIBBS RACING [YAHOO CLASS A]

After weeks and weeks of terrible luck, Kenseth finally got the result he deserved last weekend at Kansas when he finished fourth. Don't be surprised if he keeps the momentum going Sunday at Dover. He is a two-time winner at the track, and he has four finishes of seventh or better in his last five starts here.
