Tyler Shatley JAC OGJaguars' Tyler Shatley: Staying in Jacksonville
19h agoThe Jaguars re-signed Shatley on Friday.
Not all of the details of the deal are known at this point, but Shatley is now poised to spend at least next season in Jacksonville - his 11th straight year with the team. The Jaguars will likely seek to add talent at offensive line during the upcoming draft, but Shatley figures to at least provide veteran depth to the interior of the unit in 2024.

22h agoGM Chris Ballard noted Friday that Ogletree is off the NFL's Commissioner Exempt List, Stephen Holder of ESPN.com reports.
Per the report, Ogletree -- whose charges stemming from his arrest in December were dismissed last month -- is back with the Colts during offseason workouts. Prior to being placed on the Commissioner Exempt List on Dec. 30, Ogletree caught nine of his 21 targets for 147 yards and two TDs in 12 regular-season games with Indianapolis.

J.K. Dobbins LAC RBChargers' J.K. Dobbins: Should be ready for training camp
22h agoDobbins (Achilles), who agreed to terms with the Chargers on Thursday, "should be" ready for training camp according to GM Joe Hortiz, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
Tom Pelissero of NFL Network relayed last month that Dobbins -- who suffered a torn Achilles in Baltimore's regular-season opener in 2023 -- has been cleared for football activities, with previous reports having noted that the running back had resumed running this offseason. Based on the assessment of Hortiz on Thursday, Dobbins is still working his way back from his injury; however, if the 2020 second-rounder is able to return to form, he and Gus Edwards (who also came over from the Ravens in free agency) have a chance to provide an effective 1-2 punch in the Chargers' backfield in 2024 under the guidance of offensive coordinator Greg Roman, who both players worked with in Baltimore.

Kerby Joseph DET DBLions' Kerby Joseph: Should be 100 percent for camp
1d agoJoseph (hip) -- who won't take part in practices this spring -- expects to be fully healthy by the start of training camp, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Joseph underwent an offseason procedure to address a hip injury that originally occurred in Week 2 of the 2023 campaign. Though he returned to play after missing two contests en route to logging 82 tackles and four picks in 15 regular-season outings overall, the issue evidently lingered to the point that it required attention following the postseason. Once he's back to 100 percent, Joseph will reprise his starting free safety role with the Lions.

D.J. Chark CAR WRDJ Chark: Visits with Chargers
1d agoChark visited the Chargers on Thursday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Few teams are more in need of wide receivers, with the Chargers having released Mike Williams and traded Keenan Allen earlier this offseason. Chark has never come close to matching his 1,008-yard, eight-TD performance in 2019 for Jacksonville, but he did top 500 yards both of the past two seasons in Detroit and Carolina, starting 21 of 26 games along the way. Chark will turn 28 in September and doesn't figure to command a large contract.

Courtland Sutton DEN WRBroncos' Courtland Sutton: No concern about OTA absence
1d agoBroncos GM George Paton suggested Thursday that he isn't worried about Sutton's absence from voluntary offseason workouts, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports. "It's 100 percent voluntary," Paton said. "It's the first week of the offseason program. I've talked to Courtland. He's in a good place, and I'll just leave it at that."
Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reported Tuesday that Sutton's absence from voluntary OTAs is related to wanting a new contract. The wideout has two years and approximately $27.6 million remaining on his current deal, with only $2 million of that guaranteed. It's not the type of situation with especially high risk for a holdout, and Sutton looks to be especially important for Denver's offense after the team traded WR Jerry Jeudy to Cleveland in the offseason. It's not yet clear who will start across from Sutton at wide receiver, nor is it clear who will get the nod under center Week 1. The Broncos still have a lot to work out this spring and summer, with the upcoming NFL Draft presumably being a piece of that puzzle.

3m agoBichette went 2-for-5 with a run scored and a stolen base in Friday's win over the Padres.
Moved up to the leadoff spot with George Springer getting a breather, Bichette did his job setting the table. After a slow start to the season, the shortstop has hit safely in 11 of the last 12 games, slashing .304/.377/.457 over that stretch with a homer, five RBI, seven runs and all three of his steals on the season.

Spencer Strider ATL SPBraves' Spencer Strider: Less damage than expected
7m agoStrider suggested Friday that he could be back on a mound early next season after doctors found that his ligament was in "surprisingly good" shape during surgery, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.
The right-hander indicated that the internal bracing procedure he underwent last week ended up being necessary because of a loose bone fragment in his elbow that had developed over the last couple years. "That's what destabilized the ligament," Strider said. Atlanta will likely be cautious with its ace's recovery, but the fact that he avoided Tommy John surgery and the relatively positive news about the state of his ligament are strong signs that he could still have significant fantasy value in 2025.

Santana has now sat out three of Minnesota's last four games after slashing .125/.210/.143 across his first 15 games. His absence Saturday will move Alex Kirilloff to first base while Austin Martin, Byron Buxton and Trevor Larnach start across the outfield.

20m agoSoto went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in Friday's 5-3 win over the Rays.
The 25-year-old outfielder provided the game-winning blast in the seven inning off Chris Devenski, capping a five-run frame for the Yankees. Soto has gone yard in back-to-back contests, and four of his five homers on the year have come in the last 10 games -- a stretch in which he's slashing .361/.500/.778 with eight runs and 13 RBI.

Clay Holmes NYY RPYankees' Clay Holmes: Nabs league-leading eighth save
22m agoHolmes gave up two hits in a scoreless ninth inning Friday to record his eighth save of the season in a 5-3 win over the Rays.
The veteran right-hander continued his fast start to the campaign. Holmes does have one blown save on his ledger due to some unearned runs, but through 10 innings he sports a 0.00 ERA to go along with his MLB-leading saves total. His 6:1 K:BB and 1.20 WHIP suggest that pristine ERA won't last much longer, however. With the 14-6 Yankees tied for the best record in the majors, save chances should remain plentiful for the team's undisputed closer.

Stanton turned in an 0-for-4 performance at the plate during Friday's victory over the Rays, and he'll get a breather during Saturday's contest. Aaron Judge will take over as New York's designated hitter, allowing Trent Grisham to start in center field and bat sixth.

1m agoValanciunas ended Friday's 105-98 Play-In Game win over the Kings with 19 points (8-16 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 3-3 FT), 12 rebounds, three assists and two blocks over 27 minutes.
Valanciunas was a non-factor in the loss against the Lakers in the first round of the Play-In Tournament, but he stepped up in a big way here, as the Pelicans were without Zion Williamson (hamstring). and posted his second double-double since the beginning of April. He ends the season with averages of 12.2 points and 8.9 rebounds per game across 84 appearances, as he didn't miss a single game throughout the campaign. However, his statistical output suffered a marked regression for the second consecutive year, and his future with the Pelicans is not entirely clear for 2024-25 and beyond.

5m agoIngram amassed 24 points (10-20 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 3-3 FT), six rebounds, six assists and one block over 37 minutes during Friday's 105-98 Play-In Game win over the Kings.
Ingram was playing in only his third game since missing the final stretch of the regular season, and while he wasn't at his best, he stepped up when called upon duty in a game where New Orleans didn't have Zion Williamson (hamstring). Ingram finishes the 2023-24 season with averages of 20.7 points, 5.7 assists and 5.1 rebounds per game across 66 appearances between the regular season and the Play-In Tournament, making it the third straight campaign in which he averages at least 20 points, five assists and five rebounds per game.

De'Aaron Fox SAC PGKings' De'Aaron Fox: Carries Sacramento to playoff berth
8m agoFox notched 35 points (12-29 FG, 4-16 3Pt, 7-11 FT), seven rebounds, five assists and three steals over 42 minutes during Friday's 105-98 Play-In Game loss to the Pelicans.
Fox came through when the Kings needed him the most, and the star floor general sparked the team's second half comeback to secure a playoff berth -- and a matchup against the Thunder in the first round of the Western Conference playoffs. Even though Domantas Sabonis will make an impact on offense and Keegan Murray can be a valuable contributor in the scoring column, the Kings will live and die by Fox's performances, and they will go as far as the star guard can carry them. To note, Fox surpassed the 30-point plateau in two of his three appearances against the Thunder in the regular season.

11m agoMurray closed with 11 points (4-12 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 1-2 FT), seven rebounds, three assists, one block and one steal in 38 minutes during Friday's 105-98 Play-In Game loss to New Orleans.
Murray had to leave the game in the second quarter due to a hip problem, and even though he returned in the second half, he didn't look at his best -- and he was certainly not as good as he was against the Warriors in the previous round of the Play-In Tournament. Murray has scored 15 points or more in five of his last seven appearances and will be asked to play a prominent role on offense in the first-round series against the Thunder.

Domantas Sabonis SAC CKings' Domantas Sabonis: Close to triple-double Friday
12m agoSabonis produced 23 points (9-14 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 5-5 FT), 14 rebounds, seven assists, one block and three steals over 42 minutes during Friday's 105-98 Play-In Game loss to New Orleans.
Sabonis seems to be extending his double-double streak into the postseason, and he stepped up in a game where the Kings needed him to be at his best, ending just three assists away from a triple-double. Sabonis is expected to be one of the Kings' go-to players in the first-round series against the Thunder, and it's worth noting he posted two triple-doubles in four appearances against OKC in the regular season.

Yuta Watanabe MEM SFYuta Watanabe: Leaving NBA
27m agoWatanabe (personal) is not expected to pick up his $2.6 million player option this offseason, but rather head to the Japan professional basketball league, Keith Smith of Spotrac.com reports.
Watanabe announced the news during an Instagram Live session. Assuming he does not ultimately return to the NBA, the six-year veteran will bookend his career with stints in Memphis. Although, he only played five games for the team this year, as most of his season was spent in Phoenix. His most productive tenure came with the Nets during the 2022-23 season, where the forward averaged 5.6 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.0 triples across 16.0 minutes per game.

24m agoPer Andrew Gross of Newsday, coach Patrick Roy said Pageau (lower body) will be a game-time decision Saturday.
Pageau was injured Wednesday versus the Penguins in the final game of the regular season. He completed the year with 11 goals, 22 assists, 101 PIM and 196 hits in 82 outings. Should Pageau be unavailable Saturday, expect to see Simon Holmstrom enter the lineup on the fourth unit.

Nick Jensen WAS DCapitals' Nick Jensen: Skating before practice Saturday
31m agoJensen (upper body) skated in a non-contact jersey before practice Saturday, according to Tom Gulitti of NHL.com.
Jensen was stretchered off the ice a week ago against Tampa Bay and missed the last two games of the regular season. Jensen will have to get better in a hurry if he hopes to play in Game 1 versus the Rangers on Sunday. Jensen had 14 points, 62 hits and 123 blocked shots in 78 games during the regular season. Should Jensen be unable to play, expect to see Vincent Iorio remain in the lineup.

Rasmus Sandin WAS DCapitals' Rasmus Sandin: Practicing in non-contact jersey
42m agoSandin (upper body) is at morning practice Saturday, in a non-contact jersey, Tom Gulitti of NHL.com reports.
The Capitals play Game 1 versus the Rangers on Sunday and it's starting to look like Sandin won't be ready to return. Sandin missed the last five games of the regular season with the injury, finishing the season with three goals and 20 assists in 68 appearances. Should Sandin be unavailable Sunday, look for Dylan McIlrath to dress as the Capitals' sixth defenseman.

Olli Maatta DET DRed Wings' Olli Maatta: Caps off productive campaign
2h agoMaatta posted four goals, 14 assists, 96 blocked shots and a team-leading plus-14 rating through 72 games this season.
Maatta didn't post the type of stat that would enthrall the masses in fantasy hockey but was efficient for a retooled Red Wings blue line that desperately needed more cohesion and consistency. The 2024-25 campaign will be a contract year for Maatta before potentially being able to hit the open market as an unrestricted free agent.

Jake Walman DET DRed Wings' Jake Walman: Robust totals in abbreviated season
2h agoWalman finished the season with a career-high 21 points (12 goals, nine assists) to complement 42 hits and 151 blocked shots through 63 games.
Walman was bogged down by an illness in January, and a lower-body issue limited him to two games in the season's final month. But when healthy, Walman surfaced with a series of special moments. The skilled defenseman surged to a three-point performance while facing the Predators in the penultimate contest of 2023, and his penalty-shot goal in overtime against the Canucks on Feb. 11 roused the home crowd. Walman's industrious style of play makes him a good fit in Detroit, though he may be a bit too injury-prone to stay on fantasy rosters for a sustained period.

Christian Fischer DET RWRed Wings' Christian Fischer: Discouraging finish in Motown
3h agoFischer completed his debut campaign with the Red Wings, adding five goals, 14 assists and 138 hits through 79 games. He was neutral in the plus-minus category.
Despite a bottom-six role, Fischer has proven that he's capable of providing a decent amount of offense, but his production screeched to a halt at a time when the Red Wings were desperate in their attempts to clinch a playoff berth. Fischer was held without a point for the final 12 games, failing to provide ancillary scoring for the Original Six club that failed to qualify for the postseason. It could end up being a "one-and-done" stint for Fischer in the Motor City, as the physical winger is a pending unrestricted free agent.
