1h agoSutton wants a new contract and hasn't reported to voluntary OTAs, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Sutton has two seasons remaining on a four-year, $60 million extension, scheduled for a $13 million base salary in 2024 ($2 million guaranteed) and then $13.5 million in 2025 (no guarantees). He scored a career-high 10 touchdowns in 16 games last season, though 90 targets were his fewest since 2020 -- the year he suffered an ACL tear Week 1 -- and he still hasn't come close to matching his career-high 1,112 yards from 2019. The 28-year-old won't necessarily hold out from mandatory team activities later this spring, but the situation is at least worth keeping an eye on until he gets an extension or contract adjustment, or otherwise reports to the Broncos. There's been no indication of his Week 18 ankle injury lingering into the offseason, with the main concern at this point being the lack of a starting-caliber QB on Denver's roster. The team also appears thin at wide receiver, where the starting job across from Sutton could end up going to any of Josh Reynolds, Marvin Mims, Tim Patrick (Achilles) or Brandon Johnson.

Jean-Charles was not tendered by New Orleans as a restricted free agent, but he will return to the team nonetheless. After spending his first two seasons in Green Bay, the 25-year-old suited up for eight games between the 49ers and Saints in 2023. He accumulated four tackles (three solo) in the process. The Appalachian State product will now look to make an impression during offseason workouts.

An undrafted rookie in 2023, Wilson made the Packers' initial 53-man roster following the preseason and even mixed into seven regular-season games, taking 14 carries for 85 yards and hauling in four of five targets for 23 yards while working behind Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon. Green Bay swapped out Jones for Josh Jacobs and also retained Dillon this offseason, meaning Wilson is poised for a similar role in the coming campaign, barring potential additions to the backfield in free agency or the draft.

McCloud finished his 2023 campaign on the sidelines after getting injured in the team's season finale against the Eagles. Healthy now, the Notre Dame product can focus on being ready for a third campaign in New York after signing his free-agent tender.

18h agoCrosby (knee) said, "I'm feeling better than I ever have," Monday, after he spent much of 2023 fighting through a knee injury that required draining multiple times a week, Nick Shook of NFL.com reports.
Crosby set career highs in combined tackles (90) and sacks (14.5) last season despite spending much of the campaign hampered by a bursa joint issue. The 26-year-old underwent a procedure to correct it in January after the season ended and began rehabbing it soon after, which went "incredible," according to Crosby.

18h agoCoach Andy Reid indicated Monday that Rice is expected to remotely participate in the initial stage of the Chiefs' voluntary offseason program via virtual meetings, NFL.com reports.
Per Adam Teicher of ESPN.com, Rice -- who is is facing one count of aggravated assault, one count of collision involving serious bodily injury and six counts of collision involving injury stemming from his involvement in a car crash in Dallas last month -- turned himself in to police last week and was subsequently released on bond. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the league has been closely monitoring developments related to the incident, while Reid noted that it remains to be seen whether the wideout will participate later in the spring when the team's offseason program moves to Kansas City. "I want to keep gathering the information from the law enforcement people,'" Reid said Monday. "We'll just see where everything goes from there (and) let the process take place."

4m agoYankees manager Aaron Boone said in an interview on the Talkin' Yanks podcast that he expects LeMahieu (foot) to begin a rehab assignment this weekend.
LeMahieu has been ramping up baseball activities and is nearly ready to test things out in game action as he comes back from a bone bruise and non-displaced fracture in his right foot. He should return to the top of the Yankees' depth chart at third base once he's ready, but LeMahieu could also yield some starts to Oswaldo Cabrera at the hot corner given Cabrera's hot start. LeMahieu also no longer looks to be a candidate to bat leadoff in the short term with Anthony Volpe establishing himself at the top of the batting order.

Gavin Sheets CHW DHWhite Sox's Gavin Sheets: Option for starts in outfield
10m agoWhite Sox manager Pedro Grifol said Monday that Sheets could see some action in the outfield, James Fegan of SoxMachine.com reports.
Sheets is one of the few White Sox players that's been hitting, so using him in the outfield would allow the club to keep his bat in the lineup even after the return of Eloy Jimenez. While he's a natural first baseman, most of Sheets' playing time at the major-league level has come in the outfield, so it's not foreign to him. He should receive fairly regular reps in the outfield versus righties while he's swinging a hot bat.

Eloy Jimenez CHW DHWhite Sox's Eloy Jimenez: Could play some outfield
15m agoWhite Sox manager Pedro Grifol said Monday that Jimenez could be used some in the outfield, James Fegan of SoxMachine.com reports.
Gavin Sheets filled in admirably as the designated hitter while Jimenez was sidelined and is also an option -- and probably a likelier one -- to see action in the outfield as the team seeks to keep both bats in the lineup. All three of Jimenez's starts this season came at DH before he got hurt, and only 14 of his 118 starts in 2023 were in the outfield. It's possible he could wind up playing the outfield enough to pick up eligibility there in fantasy, but the White Sox also want to keep him healthy and having Jimenez play the field heightens that risk.

Pages, 23, is off to a scorching start at Triple-A Oklahoma City, slashing .371/.452/.694 with five home runs and 15 RBI. Jason Heyward has had trouble getting over the hump with his back injury, so Pages could receive regular reps in a corner outfield spot while Heyward recuperates. The right-handed hitter can also handle center field, so he would be an option versus left-handed pitching there on days James Outman is out of the lineup.

39m agoGipson-Long (forearm/groin) is receiving further medical evaluation, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.
Gipson-Long was on a rehab assignment while coming back from a groin injury but had to be pulled off of it last week after experiencing right forearm tightness. That he continues to be evaluated isn't typically a good sign, but the Tigers should have more clarification on his status later this week.

Alejandro Kirk TOR CBlue Jays' Alejandro Kirk: Likely to lose work to Jansen
40m agoKirk is expected to move to the bench for Tuesday's game against the Yankees and will likely lose out on starts to Danny Jansen (wrist), who was reinstated from the injured list Monday, ESPN.com reports.
Between wins over the Rockies on Sunday and Yankees on Monday, Kirk reached base seven times, but he's still put together an underwhelming .200/.293/.220 slash line through 58 plate appearances while operating as the Blue Jays' primary backstop so far this season. Though Jansen remained on the bench Monday, he's on track to make his season debut Tuesday and looks poised to handle the larger portion of a timeshare behind the plate with Kirk. Jansen is the more polished defender of the two, and though Kirk has an All-Star appearance and Silver Slugger on his resume, he's been a slightly below league-average hitter since the start of the 2023 season (91 wRC+, .301 wOBA over 480 plate appearances).

1h agoESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reports that the Bucks are preparing to be without Antetokounmpo (calf) for the beginning of their series against the Pacers.
This is in line with previous reporting, as there doesn't appear to be much optimism about Antetokounmpo appearing in the first couple games of the series. Wojnarowski adds that the Bucks are hopeful Antetokounmpo can return later in the series with constant treatment, but this is a fluid situation.

13h agoSarr left Monday's Game 3 of the G League Finals against the Maine Celtics due to an ankle injury, Jared Weiss of The Athletic reports.
Sarr was involved in a collision while pursuing a rebound, and he ultimately needed to be carried to the locker room. His return to Monday's clash seems unlikely given the circumstances in which he exited.

Golden State will be traveling to Sacramento for Tuesday's showdown, returning to the scene of the crime where Curry dropped 50 points (20-38 FG, 7-18 3Pt) in a victorious Game 7 of last year's first-round series between these teams. Additionally, Curry averaged 31.0 points, 6.3 rebounds and 4.8 assists in four games against the Kings this season.

18h agoWood (knee) has been ruled out for Tuesday's game against the Pelicans, Dan Woike of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Wood has been sidelined since undergoing an arthroscopic procedure on his left knee in March, and he'll remain sidelined as the Lakers begin postseason play Tuesday. It's unclear if he'll be available at any point if the team advances in the postseason.

Vanderbilt's defensive efforts were a key part of the Lakers' run to the Western Conference Finals last season. Forbort has been sent down to the AHL in hopes of establishing that he's fully healthy and ready to suit up for Boston in the playoffs. The 32-year-old has registered four assists and 22 shots on goal in 35 top-level games played this season. If he's able to return for the NHL playoffs, he'll likely serve as a bottom-pairing option as his usage this year suggests he'll only see third-pairing minutes and likely won't be in the lineup every game.

Barkov has put together another solid season, recording 23 goals and 55 assists in 72 games. The captain will likely slot back into the first line and get one more game under his belt before the playoffs start. He will look to keep producing on the power play where he has five goals and 24 assists this year.

Ekblad will return to his usual top-four role once postseason play gets underway. He's picked up just 18 points through 51 games in what's been a disappointing season from an offensive standpoint for the 28-year-old defender.

Nelson picked up an assist on Kyle Palmieri's marker in the first period before extending the Islanders' lead to 3-1 in the second, swiping a loose puck past Jake Allen. The 32-year-old Nelson has points in four straight games, totaling three goals and three assists in that span. He's up to 33 goals and 67 points through 81 games heading into Wednesday's regular-season finale versus Pittsburgh.

Steven Stamkos TB CLightning's Steven Stamkos: Nets 40th goal
32m agoStamkos scored a goal on a team-high seven shots in Monday's 4-2 loss to the Sabres.
Stamkos got Tampa on the board early in the second period, beating Eric Comrie with a wrister off a Buffalo turnover to tie the game 1-1. The 34-year-old Stamkos has now reached the 40-goal threshold in seven of his 16 NHL seasons. He's been on fire down the stretch, tallying 11 goals and 14 points in his last nine games. Stamkos will enter Wednesday's season finale with 79 points (40 goals, 39 assists) across 78 games this year.

Ekman-Larsson is considered day-to-day with his upper-body issue, so there's a chance he'll be ready for Game 1 of Florida's upcoming first-round playoff series. He's picked up 32 points, 123 shots and 105 hits through 80 games in a bottom-four role this season.
