Cam Brown NYG LBDolphins' Cam Brown: Inks deal in Miami
4h agoBrown agreed to a contract with the Dolphins on Wednesday, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
Brown appeared in 60 career games as a special-teams ace during his first four seasons with the Giants, tallying 24 tackles over that span. The 26-year-old played exclusively on special teams in 16 games during the 2023 campaign, so he'll more than likely fulfill a similar role for Miami in 2024.

4h agoThe Browns placed Murray on the retired/reserve list Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Murray played for the Raiders, Cardinals, Bills and Titans during his six-year NFL career, appearing in 41 games with 20 starts during his professional tenure. The soon-to-be 31-year-old joined Cleveland's practice squad last November and then signed a futures contract in January, but he never played in any games for the team.

J.K. Dobbins BAL RBChargers' J.K. Dobbins: Slated to join Chargers
6h agoDobbins (Achilles) is in line to sign a one-contract with the Chargers, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
A second-round pick of the Ravens in 2020, Dobbins had two of his first four pro seasons cut short due to an ACL tear in 2021 and then a torn left Achilles in Week 1 of the 2023 campaign. In his 24 career appearances, he's averaged a robust 5.8 yards on 234 carries, gathered in 27 of 35 targets for 177 yards and scored 13 total touchdowns. Orthopedic surgeon Dr. Neal ElAttrache penned a letter to NFL teams in late March that Dobbins had received medical clearance to participate in football activities, but his new contract will be contingent on a physical. Once the move west to L.A. becomes official, Dobbins will join forces with former teammate Gus Edwards at the top of the RB depth chart, giving him some sway in fantasy working alongside QB Justin Herbert.

9h agoSlayton (thumb) hasn't reported to the Giants' voluntary workouts while he seeks a contract extension, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
Slayton, who led the team with 770 receiving yards in 17 games in 2023, has attended the Giants' voluntary offseason program in the past. The 27-year-old wideout is in line to earn $6.2 million in the final year of his contract in 2024, but Slayton is evidently looking to amend those terms. At this stage, Slayton -- who is recovering from an offseason procedure on his right thumb -- is poised to retain a key role in a Giants wideout corps that currently includes Wan'Dale Robinson and Jalin Hyatt.

Jaelan Phillips MIA LBDolphins' Jaelan Phillips: Getting fifth-year option picked up
14h agoGeneral manager Chris Grier said Tuesday that the Dolphins will exericse the fifth-year option on Phillips' (Achilles) rookie contract before May's deadline, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com reports.
A torn right Achilles' tendon limited Phillips to just eight games last season, but he's reportedly on track to be ready for Week 1 of the 2024 campaign. He's been one of the Dolphins' more impactful pass rushers over the past three seasons, and the team will be more in need of him than ever with Christian Wilkins having moved on to Las Vegas.

De'Von Achane MIA RBDolphins' De'Von Achane: Bulks up during offseason
14h agoAchane appears to have added muscle to his frame through his workouts earlier this offseason, Joe Schad of the Palm Beach Post reports.
A photo of Achane showing up for OTAs went viral, with some saying he looks much larger than he did during his rookie campaign. It's his second offseason bulking up for football without also considering track and field, though at this point it's unclear how much muscle he's added relative to his weight from the 2023 NFL Combine, where he ran a 4.32-second 40-yard dash at 188 pounds. Achane averaged 7.8 yards per carry and scored a touchdown per game last season, albeit with injuries (six missed games) and Raheem Mostert's presence (209 carries) limiting the rookie to 103 carries and 27 catches in his 11 appearances. The Dolphins still have Mostert under contract -- along with backups Jeff Wilson, Salvon Ahmed (foot) and Chris Brooks -- but they'll presumably prepare Achane with more of the backfield work in his second NFL season.

9m agoArozarena went 1-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base Wednesday against the Angels.
Arozarena hasn't had a good start at the plate, as he's hitting just .174 with two home runs across 75 plate appearances. When he has gotten on base, however, he's taken advantage as he's managed four stolen bases without being caught. Arozarena is also striking out at a fairly typical 25.3 percent clip, so there's not a significant reason to panic about his performance yet.

24m agoBradley (pectoral) threw around 50 pitches in a simulated game Wednesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Bradley threw the session at the Rays' spring training facility, which marked a significant step in his return. He's nearing a rehab assignment, but the team has stated it wants to ensure he regains his stamina before pushing him too hard. A return in the first half of May remains realistic if Bradley doesn't suffer any setbacks.

Kerry Carpenter DET RFTigers' Kerry Carpenter: Blasts third home run
2h agoCarpenter went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 5-4 loss to the Rangers.
Carpenter has been playing well lately, recording a .321 batting average and four extra-base hits across his last 10 games. While he generally sits against southpaws, Carpenter feasts on righties, and that should allow him to remain a solid fantasy asset moving forward. The 26-year-old broke out a bit last year with 20 home runs, 64 RBI and an .811 OPS, and he could surpass all of those numbers in 2024.

2h agoMeadows went 1-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run in Wednesday's 5-4 loss to the Rangers.
Meadows has really been scuffling to start the season, as he's still batting just .077, and the outfielder had started to see his playing time dip a bit. He was moved down to eighth in the order Wednesday, and perhaps a lower lineup spot could help take some pressure off. Meadows has the talent to get rolling, though fantasy managers will want to see the 24-year-old string together a few more good games before feeling too confident.

Shelby Miller DET RPTigers' Shelby Miller: Suffers first loss Wednesday
2h agoMiller (3-1) allowed a run on two hits across an inning of relief to take the loss Wednesday against the Rangers.
After starting the season with seven scoreless innings, Miller has now allowed runs in each of his last two appearances, suffering a blown save and a loss in the process. The righty still has a solid 1.93 ERA, and despite the hiccup, he should remain one of the top bullpen options for the Tigers moving forward.

Tarik Skubal DET SPTigers' Tarik Skubal: Strikes out six in no-decision
2h agoSkubal allowed four runs (two earned) on five hits across 6.1 innings and did not factor into the decision Wednesday against the Rangers. He walked one and struck out six.
Skubal has now given up two earned runs or fewer in three of his four starts this season, which has allowed him to post a stellar 2.28 ERA. The lefty also has 26 strikeouts across 23.2 innings, and his overall body of work makes him a very strong fantasy asset moving forward. Skubal is projected to take the mound again on Monday against the Rays, and he should be locked into lineups no matter the opponent, as he appears to be fairly matchup-proof at this point.

2h agoCaruso generated six points (2-3 FG, 2-3 3Pt), two rebounds, two assists and a steal during 17 minutes of Wednesday's 131-116 win over the Hawks. Caruso said post-game that he sprained his left ankle, Cody Westerlund of 670TheScore.com reports.
Caruso missed portions of the first half after a collision with Andre Drummond. While he managed to return to the game, he was subbed out with 9:43 to play in the third quarter and didn't check back in. Caruso's status is certainly up in the air for Friday's matchup with Miami and is worth monitoring ahead of the contest. If he ends up sitting, Javonte Green, Torrey Craig and Dalen Terry are candidates for more minutes.

3h agoButler is feared to have sustained an MCL injury in his right knee, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.
Butler finished out Wednesday's Play-In Tournament game against the 76ers despite sporting a limp in his right leg. While he was reported to be undergoing an MRI on Thursday, Butler's injury could be more serious than initially expected. If it ends up being an MCL injury, it's highly unlikely that Butler will be able to play in Friday's Play-In elimination game. In that scenario, Jaime Jaquez, Haywood Highsmith and Caleb Martin would likely see more minutes.

Caruso took a brief trip to the locker room late in the first quarter after colliding with Andre Drummond. However, he's checked back into the contest and should be good to go.

Heat's Jimmy Butler: Undergoing MRI on knee
3h agoButler will have an MRI on Thursday after sustaining a right knee injury during Wednesday's 105-104 Play-In Tournament loss to the 76ers, Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald reports. He played 40 minutes and generated 19 points (5-18 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 7-8 FT), five assists, four rebounds and five steals.
Butler appeared to tweak his knee late in the first quarter after being fouled but remained in the game at less than 100 percent, sporting a noticeable limp at times. Butler was seen wearing a protective knee sleeve post-game and will have more testing done Thursday. The Heat will play in a win-or-go-home matchup Friday night, giving Butler very little time to heal. We should know more about the severity of the injury once the MRI results come back.

Bulls' Alex Caruso: Exits game
3h agoCaruso went back to the locker room during Wednesday's game against the Hawks with what appeared to be a right foot injury, Cody Westerlund of 670TheScore.com reports.
Andre Drummond stepped on Caruso's foot in transition and ran over Caruso at half-court. Caruso quickly removed himself from the game and limped back to the locker room. He should be considered questionable to return.

4h agoDrummond (ankle) is available for Wednesday's Play-In Tournament game versus the Hawks, Lauren L. Williams of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Drummond has been upgraded from questionable to available Wednesday after missing Chicago's previous three contests with a left ankle sprain. Drummond is averaging 9.3 points, 10.3 rebounds and 1.1 steals in 18.5 minutes across his previous 10 appearances.

Bolduc finished the campaign with three goals and two assists over the last five games. The 21-year-old winger held his own in his first taste of NHL action, racking up nine points and 38 shots on net over 25 contests. He is eligible for the AHL playoffs, but it is unlikely AHL Springfield will qualify. Bolduc will likely be reassigned to the Thunderbirds soon.

Schenn had his ups and downs again in 2023-24, but he posted five goals and four assists over eight games in April. The 32-year-old forward produced 46 points over 82 contests this season, his lowest total in a full-length campaign since 2013-14. He added 170 shots on net, 169 hits, 51 blocked shots, 56 PIM and a minus-22 rating while mainly seeing top-six usage.

Thomas had a great April with three goals and nine assists over eight contests. That puts a bow on a career year for the Blues' top-line center -- he finished with 26 goals, 86 points, 170 shots on net, 47 blocked shots and a plus-9 rating over 82 outings. Thomas won't ever be a shoot-first player, but his growth in that regard should have him in consideration as a middle-round pick in fantasy drafts in the fall.

18m agoBinnington stopped 36 of 37 shots in Wednesday's 2-1 shootout loss to the Stars.
Binnington put in a good effort for his last game of the season, but still ended up with his third defeat in his last four outings. The 30-year-old ends 2023-24 at 28-21-5 with three shutouts, a 2.84 GAA and a .913 save percentage over 57 appearances. Those are his best numbers in the last three years, but they're not enough for him to be considered among the NHL's top-tier goalies.

Lindell helped out on a Mason Marchment tally in the third period. With three assists over his last eight games, Lindell remains a source of some supporting offense as well as steady defense. The 29-year-old blueliner put up 26 points -- his most in five years -- while adding 114 shots on net, 162 blocked shots, 74 hits and a plus-17 rating in 82 regular-season outings this season.

Matt Duchene DAL CStars' Matt Duchene: Registers helper in win
24m agoDuchene notched an assist and three shots on goal in Wednesday's 2-1 shootout win over the Blues.
Duchene's offense faltered over the final quarter of the campaign, as he managed nine points across the final 20 contests. The 33-year-old had been consistent earlier in the year, but he clearly felt the impact of Tyler Seguin missing time with a lower-body injury. Duchene concludes the regular season with 25 goals, 65 points, 172 shots on net, 48 blocked shots and a plus-15 rating over 80 appearances in a second-line role.
