Kerby Joseph DET DB
Lions' Kerby Joseph: Out until training camp
5h agoJoseph (arm) will not be cleared to practice until training camp, Kyle Meinke of MLive.com reports.
Joseph suffered the injury during the NFC Championship Game against the 49ers, though the nature and seriousness of the issue had not been previously disclosed. Assuming he returns to health in time to begin the 2024 campaign, Joseph figures to serve as Detroit's starting free safety and is likely to rack up tackles and pass breakups.

Coy Cronk MIN OL
Coy Cronk: Let go by Minnesota
8h agoThe Vikings waived Cronk (undisclosed) with a non-football injury designation on Thursday.
The 26-year-old offensive lineman went undrafted out of Iowa in 2021, and his most recent in-game action came back in 2022 with the Jaguars. It's unclear what Cronk's injury is, but he'll remain a free agent while he recovers from his unspecified issue.

Kenyon Green HOU OT
Texans' Kenyon Green: Competing for starting role
8h agoTexans' GM Nick Caserio told reporters Thursday that Green (shoulder) must earn his starting spot as the offseason progresses, Cole Thompson of USA Today reports.
Green sustained a shoulder injury during the Texans' preseason finale that forced him to miss the entire 2023 season, but his rehab process has been going well and he could partake in voluntary offseason workouts this week. Once he's able to return to the field, the 2022 first-round pick is expected to compete with Kendrick Green for Houston's top left guard position.

Demetrius Taylor 2005 DL
Demetrius Taylor: Reinstated by NFL
9h agoThe NFL reinstated Taylor from suspension Thursday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
The 24-year-old defensive lineman has been reinstated after serving a one-year suspension for violating the league's gambling policy. Taylor has appeared in just one game and played 13 snaps across his NFL career, but he's now available to try and make his return to the field.
-
Rashod Berry IND DE
Rashod Berry: Reinstated from suspension
9h agoThe NFL reinstated Berry from suspension Thursday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Berry was waived by the Colts shortly after receiving his one-year suspension for violating the NFL's gambling policy last offseason, but he's now been reinstated. During his two seasons in Indianapolis, the 27-year-old appeared in just eight games and recorded four total tackles. Now that he's been reinstated, Berry will attempt to make another roster this offseason.
-
C.J. Moore DET DB
C.J. Moore: Reinstated by NFL
9h agoThe NFL reinstated Moore from suspension Thursday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Moore was suspended for violating the league's gambling policy last offseason, but he's now been reinstated by the NFL. The 28-year-old appeared in 56 games from 2019-2022, racking up 48 total tackles while primarily contributing on special teams. Detroit parted ways with Moore shortly after his suspension, so he's free to sign with any team now that he's reinstated.

Alex Cobb SF SP
Giants' Alex Cobb: Set to throw from flat ground
1h agoCobb (hip) had a clean MRI on his shoulder and will throw from flat ground Friday, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Cobb has dealt with both elbow and shoulder pain while working his way back from hip surgery. However, he's now set to resume throwing for the first time since April 1. Given his inability to ramp up consistently, Cobb will likely need several weeks before he's ready to return to a big-league mound.

Jose Ramirez CLE 3B
Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Records first steal of season
1h agoRamirez went 0-for-4 with one RBI and one stolen base in Thursday's 5-4 win over the Red Sox.
Ramirez reached on a fielder's choice in the fifth inning and picked up his first steal of the campaign on his first attempt. The third baseman isn't the fastest player, but he tends to be opportunistic on the basepaths. He has at least 20 steals in each of the last five full campaigns, including going 28-for-34 on his stolen base attempts in 2023. His four-game hitting streak came to a close Thursday, and he's batting a modest .238 with three home runs, 16 RBI, 14 runs scored, three doubles and a triple of 19 contests.

Ryne Nelson ARI SP
Diamondbacks' Ryne Nelson: Dealing with bruised elbow
3h agoNelson exited Thursday's start against the Giants due to a right elbow contusion.
Nelson took a comebacker to his arm while recording the final out of the second inning and was forced to exit the game. It appears that he's avoided a fracture or other more serious injury, so it remains possible that he's available for his next turn through the rotation.

Ryne Nelson ARI SP
Diamondbacks' Ryne Nelson: Early exit
4h agoNelson was forced to leave Thursday's start against the Giants after taking a comebacker to his right wrist in the second inning, Jesse Friedman of GoPHNX.com reports.
Nelson worked two scoreless innings while allowing two hits before exiting. The nature of the injury is currently unclear, though he'll likely undergo an MRI or X-ray to determine the severity of the damage.
-
Trevor Story BOS SS
Red Sox's Trevor Story: Shifts to 60-day injured list
4h agoStory (shoulder) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Thursday, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.
The move was strictly procedural, as Story has already been ruled out for the rest of the 2024 season. The transaction opened a 40-man roster spot for the newly acquired Vladimir Gutierrez.
-
Marc Church TEX RP
Rangers' Marc Church: Sidelined by shoulder strain
4h agoChurch was placed on the 7-day injured list with a right shoulder strain Thursday, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.
Church was in the running for a spot in the big-league bullpen during spring training, though he was ultimately optioned to the minors. Since, he's allowed two earned runs across 4.2 innings while posting a 5:3 K:BB with Triple-A Round Rock. It's unclear how long Church will be sidelined.

Wesley Matthews ATL SG
Hawks' Wesley Matthews: Logs 10 minutes in elimination game
7h agoMatthews (hamstring) tallied zero points (0-2 FG, 0-2 3Pt) and one assist in 10 minutes Wednesday in the Hawks' 131-116 loss to the Bulls in the Eastern Conference Play-In Tournament.
Matthews missed the Hawks' final three games of the regular season with hamstring tightness, but he was able to make it back for what ended up being the team's lone postseason contest. The 37-year-old was an irregular member of the Atlanta rotation in 2023-24, appearing in 36 regular-season contests (three starts) while averaging 3.1 points, 1.5 rebounds, 0.7 three-pointers and 0.6 assists in 11.5 minutes while shooting 35.1 percent from the field. Matthews is scheduled for free agency this summer and could be headed for retirement.

Kawhi Leonard LAC SF
Clippers' Kawhi Leonard: Considered questionable for Game 1
8h agoLeonard (knee) is questionable for Sunday's Game 1 against the Mavericks, Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN.com reports.
The Clippers announced Thursday that Leonard received an injection in his left knee, and there's "cautious optimism" that he'll be ready for Sunday's matchup, per Shams Charania of The Athletic. While Leonard returned to practice Monday, he hasn't yet been cleared for 5-on-5 drills. Clippers president of basketball operations Lawrence Frank said Thursday that he isn't sure whether Leonard will need to participate in full-contact work before he's cleared to return to game action but said that the inflammation needs to continue to reduce. Lawrence said that he's hopeful the issue is trending in the right direction and that Leonard will play but also indicated that the 32-year-old's status remains up in the air.
-
Alex Caruso CHI SG
Bulls' Alex Caruso: Likely to be game-time decision
9h agoCaruso (ankle), who is questionable for Friday's Play-In Game against the Heat, underwent further evaluation Thursday that revealed reduced swelling, creating increased optimism that he'll be available for the win-or-go-home matchup against Miami, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
Wojnarowski reported Wednesday night that Caruso had sustained a "significant" left ankle sprain Wednesday against Atlanta that put his availability for Friday's matchup in doubt. However, the 30-year-old appears to be trending in the right direction and will likely be a game-time decision as the Bulls attempt to secure the No. 8 seed in the playoffs. If Caruso is unavailable against Miami, Javonte Green, Torrey Craig and Dalen Terry could see additional playing time.
-
Duncan Robinson MIA SG
Heat's Duncan Robinson: Probable for Friday
9h agoRobinson (back) is probable for Friday's Play-In Game against the Bulls, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
Robinson missed the final four games of the regular season due to his back injury, and although he was available for Wednesday's Play-In Tournament matchup against the 76ers, he didn't see any playing time. It appears likely that he'll be able to suit up again Friday, and he could see some minutes since Jimmy Butler (knee) has been ruled out.
-
Terry Rozier MIA SG
Heat's Terry Rozier: Remains out for Friday
9h agoRozier (neck) has been ruled out for Friday's game against the Bulls.
Rozier, who will miss a sixth straight contest, has been diagnosed with a neck sprain rather than neck spasms, so it seems the injury is more severe than initially expected. The loss of Rozier will be huge for the Heat, and it will translate in a higher usage rate for Tyler Herro, while there will be more minutes available for Patty Mills and possibly Delon Wright.
-
Jimmy Butler MIA SF
Heat's Jimmy Butler: Officially has sprained MCL
9h agoThe Heat announced Thursday that Butler has been diagnosed with a sprained MCL and will miss several weeks, Tim Reynolds of Associated Press reports.
Butler suffered his right knee injury late in the first quarter of Wednesday's Play-In Game loss to the 76ers, but he remained in the game down the stretch despite a limp. However, the injury is significant enough to sideline him for multiple weeks, so even if the Heat take down the Bulls on Friday, it seems unlikely that Butler will be in the mix to return during a first-round series against Boston. Jaime Jaquez will likely take on a starting role in Butler's absence, while Haywood Highsmith and Caleb Martin could also see additional playing time.

Cam Fowler ANA D
Ducks' Cam Fowler: Supplies power-play assist
8m agoFowler notched a power-play assist and three blocked shots in Thursday's 4-1 win over the Golden Knights.
Fowler finished the campaign on a five-game assist streak. The 32-year-old dealt with some challenges as the most veteran member of a young defense corps, but he came away with 39 points, 109 shots on net, 119 blocked shots and a minus-36 rating. Fowler remains productive on offense and a minutes-eater defensively, though his fantasy utility varies by format, and that's likely to remain true in 2024-25.
-
Trevor Zegras ANA C
Ducks' Trevor Zegras: Delivers assist in win
11m agoZegras notched an assist in Thursday's 4-1 win over the Golden Knights.
Zegras put together a strong finish with two goals and six helpers over his last eight games. The 23-year-old's injury-plagued fourth season saw him post 15 points, 73 shots on net, 30 PIM and a minus-1 rating over 31 appearances. He saw time at center and on the wing, so it's unclear where he might play to begin 2024-25, but he should be able to maintain a top-six role.
-
Leo Carlsson ANA C
Ducks' Leo Carlsson: Pockets helper
13m agoCarlsson posted an assist in Thursday's 4-1 win over the Golden Knights.
Carlsson had five points over seven outings in April to salvage a positive finish to an eventful rookie year. He was strong with 29 points, 109 shots on net and a minus-11 rating, but between workload management and injuries, he ended up playing just 55 games. Carlsson figures to be the Ducks' top-line center in 2024-25, though the team around him will need to be stronger to help him build up his production.
-
Ryan Strome ANA C
Ducks' Ryan Strome: Dishes pair of helpers
16m agoStrome logged two assists, two hits and two PIM in Thursday's 4-1 win over the Golden Knights.
Strome ended 2023-24 on a 19-game goal drought, earning just five assists in that span. He was far from consistent this season, but he had a much stronger first half of the campaign. Overall, the 30-year-old forward produced 11 goals, 30 helpers, 131 shots on net, 64 hits, 86 PIM and a minus-20 rating over 79 appearances in a middle-six role.
-
Jackson LaCombe ANA D
Ducks' Jackson LaCombe: Two points in Thursday's win
18m agoLaCombe scored a goal, added an assist and went plus-2 in Thursday's 4-1 win over the Golden Knights.
LaCombe's second tally of the season was his first career game-winner. The 23-year-old defenseman has four points over seven outings in March for a strong finish to his rookie season. He produced 17 points, 55 shots on net, 129 blocked shots, 50 hits and a minus-24 rating in 71 appearances while filling a top-four role most of the time.
-
Frank Vatrano ANA RW
Ducks' Frank Vatrano: Ends career year with hat trick
19m agoVatrano recorded a hat trick in Thursday's 4-1 win over the Golden Knights.
Vatrano opened the scoring with a power-play tally in the second period, then added an even-strength goal and a shorthanded empty-netter to finish the hat trick in the third. It's a fitting finish to the campaign for the 30-year-old, who broke out in a big way this season with 37 goals and 60 points over 82 contests. He added 272 shots on net, 156 hits, 78 blocked shots, 85 PIM and a minus-20 rating. Vatrano figures to be a veteran leader and mentor for the Ducks in 2024-25, the final year of his current three-year contract.
