Fantasy Football Week in Review (8/28 - 9/3)

The Philadelphia Eagles traded away Sam Bradford to the Minnesota Vikings in exchange for a 2017 first round pick and an additional pick in 2018. For a full Fantasy dive into the subject, please go here. Teddy Bridgewater suffered a devastating injury at Minnesota Vikings practice this week. He tore his ACL, dislocated his knee and suffered additional damage. He has already been placed on injured reserve and will miss the entire season. The injury was so gruesome that teammates left ill and disturbed. Practice was canceled, and Bridgewater almost lost his leg. He’s expected to make a full recovery thanks to immediate medical attention, but even 2017 is now in doubt for the young QB. Shaun Hill will be the Week 1 starter. However, the Vikings are in the market for a quarterback outside of the organization … Colin Kaepernick continued his protest of the National Anthem on Thursday night. He took a knee as did San Francisco 49ers teammate Eric Reid. Kaepernick is likely to make the team’s 53-man roster … The Denver Broncos have officially named Trevor Siemian their starter. The team is believed to be actively shopping Mark Sanchez … Los Angeles Rams first-overall pick Jared Goff suffered a bruised tailbone is last week’s preseason game and continued to underwhelm in the finale on Thursday. Head coach Jeff Fisher says that Goff is currently the QB3 on the depth chart.

After the injury to Tony Romo, the Dallas Cowboys are looking to add another QB to backup Dak Prescott while Romo is sidelined. Executive vice president Stephen Jones says he “can’t imagine a scenario in which Romo is not the starter upon his return. However, he continued saying, "But things happen. You know that. You know what happened to Bledsoe and Brady. I’m sure Tony’s aware of that. But the reality is, Tony’s going to come back for us and play great, we believe." As of now Romo is expected to return to training in 3-6 weeks and possibly return to action in 8-10 weeks … Philadelphia Eagles second-overall pick Carson Wentz is still dealing with significant pain in his injured ribs.

Ryan Tannehill says he’s comfortable in Miami Dolphins head coach Adam Gase’s offense. "I feel in charge of our offense now, in command of what we're doing out there," Tannehill added. "It's fun to get out there and get up to the line, get our guys in the right spots and keep the pressure on the defense." … The San Diego Chargers waived Zach Mettenberger, and he was claimed by the Pittsburgh Steelers after they officially placed backup Bruce Gradkowski on injured reserve with a torn hamstring … The Cleveland Browns do not plan on moving Josh McCown unless they get a high draft pick … New York Jets backup suffered a shoulder injury in the preseason finale and may land on injured reserve. This could be so the Jets don’t have to cut any of their four QBs. Head coach Todd Bowles says Geno Smith is locked in as the QB2.

Running Backs

Jamaal Charles is in legitimate danger of missing the Kansas City Chiefs Week 1 matchup. He hasn’t even taken a hit yet in practice. Even if he does play, he will not start or play a significant role. Spencer Ware is expected to be the lead back … The New England Patriots have placed Dion Lewis on the reserve/PUP list … Ameer Abdullah expects to handle the bulk of the carries for the Detroit Lions in 2016 … Thomas Rawls is a lock to play in the Seattle Seahawks season opener and is locked in as the teams RB1 … The Indianapolis Colts have signed Stevan Ridley. Josh Ferguson is in serious jeopardy of being cut.

Branden Oliver’s season is over due to a torn Achilles … Dolphins preseason standout Isaiah Pead is expected to miss at least two weeks with a hamstring injury. Rookie Kenyan Drake is still dealing with an ailing hamstring as well … Baltimore Ravens rookie Kenneth Dixon is out four weeks with an MCL tear. Lorenzo Taliaferro has been placed on the reserve/PUP list with a foot injury … Tyler Ervin is expected to serve as the Houston Texans RB2 behind Lamar Miller after he did so in the Week 3 dress rehearsal … The Washington Redskins have placed Keith Marshall on injured reserve with a sprained elbow. Head coach Jay Gruden says Matt Jones is “progressing nicely” … Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak is impressed how well Ronnie Hillman has responded the past few weeks after being placed on the roster bubble … Darren McFadden says he’s ready to return to practice … The Tennessee Titans have waived Dexter McCluster, Bishop Sankey, and David Cobb.

Wide Receivers

A.J. Green suffered a knee injury in the Cincinnati Bengals third preseason game but is expected to be fine for Week 1 … DeVante Parker is dealing with a hamstring injury and Kenny Stills a back issue. Both are expected to be good to go for the Dolphins opener … Dez Bryant says he feels “unstoppable.” … Jordy Nelson was a full participant in practice for the first time since tearing his ACL this week … Antonio Brown restructured his contract this week moving $4 million owed to him in 2017 up to this year. A big contract is expected in 2017 … Bruce Ellington has been placed on injured reserve with a torn hamstring … Arizona Cardinals deep threat has been cleared to return from his concussion issues.

Atlanta Falcons rookie Devin Fuller has been placed on injured reserve and requires season-ending shoulder surgery … The Philadelphia Eagles have cut Chris Givens and Rueben Randle … The Jets have placed Devin Smith on the reserve/PUP list … Rams rookie Pharoh Cooper is expected to miss some time with a shoulder injury … Cody Latimer is dealing with a minor knee sprain … Kendall Wright re-injured his hamstring this week. Rishard Matthews will play more in the slot with Wright sidelined. The team has cut Justin Hunter and retained Andre Johnson … The Chargers released James Jones … Breshad Perriman finally made his preseason debut this week … Victor Cruz made his long awaited return in the New York Giants preseason finale.

Tight Ends

Jimmy Graham is very questionable for Week 1, and his status will not be determined until next week. He sounds like a long shot to play at this point … Ladarius Green has been placed on the reserve/PUP list … Eric Ebron is 50/50 for Week 1 … The Broncos placed Garrett Graham on injured reserve with a shoulder injury … The Skins put Derek Carrier on the reserve/PUP list.
